PoliticsRe: Less Than 30 Mins Of Electricity Daily ? Is Adelabu Aware ? by FarahAideed(op): 8:17am On Jan 02
Richtaiwo:
Makoko, Ilaje–Bariga or Oworonshoki are clearly reserved for those who admire Lagos from a distance, people who want the city’s drama without paying for the full premium package.
If you truly wish to enjoy the bubbles, vibes, and uninterrupted bragging rights that Lagos offers, please do the needful. Acquire money and leave those areas, then rent a respectable apartment in Apapa, VI or Ikoyi.

As for me, electricity has been behaving like a well-trained houseboy, obedient and consistent. Since power was restored three days ago in my area, it has not blinked once.
Look at this 🤡 , can you afford to live where I live in your life ?
PoliticsRe: No Tax If You Are Earning Below ₦800k Annually by FarahAideed: 8:14am On Jan 02
DoTheNeedful:
You are just being overly critical. A minimum wage earner earns 840,000 in a year. Based on the new tax law, the 40,000 on top of the 800,000 is taxed at 15%, which means that a minimum wage earner pay 6,000 naira per year (500 per month) in tax. A minimum wage earner pays more than this in the old tax regime.

Many of you that criticize do so either maliciously or due to ignorance.

Our tax collection rate in Nigeria is one of the poorest even in Africa. The understanding of tax by Nigerians terrible. Many of you need to get it into your heads that tax payment is vital for any society to thrive.
Is that not still tax ? So why try to mislead people like the poor are exempted from tax
PoliticsRe: No Tax If You Are Earning Below ₦800k Annually by FarahAideed: 8:13am On Jan 02

PoliticsRe: The Quiet Explosion In State Budgets Nigerians Aren’t Talking About by FarahAideed: 7:48am On Jan 02
Penguin2:
I like this topic. And it’s because you didn’t post it to support anyone but to state facts as they currently are and what we need to next.
He didn't state any fact , he is deliberately trying to mislead people..Lagos budget for example is a lot less than what it was 10 years ago if you factor devaluation
PoliticsRe: The Quiet Explosion In State Budgets Nigerians Aren’t Talking About by FarahAideed: 7:47am On Jan 02
Factor in dollar devaluation and you will see states are far poorer than what they were before .

Just 10 years ago the average Lagos budget was equivalent to 4 billion dollars, today its about 2.9 biilion dollar.

Going to make comparison from 30 years ago is not only misleading but mischievous..

Go back and compare the budget of today with the budget in 2022 and come back

CelebritiesRe: Anda Damisa (Lazywrita) Dies By Suicide? by FarahAideed: 5:49pm On Dec 31, 2025
SixSeven:
Someone was thinking I was heartless to be hard on this person, that I don't know the battles, I don't know the things this person is going through, I don't know this and that and I said part of being a man is surviving trials of this world. I told the person to give me an alternative to willingly participating in your own death and the person could not. And then I said, finding solution is a much better part to taking your life. No matter what. I stand by my words. Life is tough. It will break you but sometimes I think Nigeria's law or punishment for attempting suicide is more of a logical one than the punishment itself. Nigeria's law is telling you, if you want to do it, just do it and go, make sure you do it.

You don't know the pain you cause those living when you selfishly consider yourself only. You're not living for yourself alone if you don't know. Especially when you have influence. I prefer you take more steps to help live than take the easy step to press the end button when you know we will all leave this world unalive!

Then like those boys who shoot in US, you now write a manifesto letter on your death. For what? Just go silently and don't disturb the world if you wanted us to not worry about you. It would have been easier for the loved ones to lie to us and tell us he died in his sleep. I am so disappointed and I have no nice words to say. This is where we have raised this generation to mental health everything. Spiritually ungrounded, digitally prosperous. Perhaps one day, we will realise our true reason for living. A person is a person because of another person (Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu”: a person is a person because of other people). We will remember our purpose on earth, stay grounded and keep serving others because service to humanity is the price you pay for earth. Fall seven times, rise up 8th.
You can never have sense 🤡

His restive nature has out Nigeria in the economic woes we are in today , if he didn't contest in 2023 there is no way the current useless govt could have won and Nigeria will be in a better position economically today ..Just look at the situation of electricity today
PoliticsRe: Is The Current Power Minister The Worst In History? by FarahAideed(op): 5:30pm On Dec 31, 2025
Sannisege:
Yeah because Blackout started happening under him. The whole of Nigeria used to have 24/7 electricity before this minister. Infact, immediately he was sworn in as minister, his first task was to vandalise all the super electricity infrastructure put in place by previous governments. The dropped Nigeria's power output from 1 billion mega watts per hour to just 4k MW per day.
Well output was better before he came , if he knew he wasn't going to have any beneficial input then why take the job ...I have spent a lot of Christmas in Nigeria and this has been the worst when it comes to electricity Supply ....well you can keep fooling your old self ,you are not doing me

PoliticsRe: What Do You Think About This New Tax Reform? by FarahAideed: 5:08pm On Dec 31, 2025
Absolutely not Worth it and we will all find out , it will trigger another round of inflation, weaken the naira further and not really increase govt revenue as being perceived...It's will put pressure on Nigerian banks as people will try to keep as much cash out of the system as possible...the greatest winner in all this will be crypto exchanges as a lot of large transactions will move there and the govt will not be able to keep up with it ...

Bottom line I see it it slowing economic recovery even further

PoliticsRe: Heirs Energies Acquires 20.07% Stake In Seplat Energy In $500 Million Deal by FarahAideed: 4:58pm On Dec 31, 2025
grandstar:
These last minute deals before the new year seems to be to avoid the 30% capital gains tax that goes into effect tomorrow.

That 30% is way to high. I would have urged 20% at most. It is currently 10%.

The corporate tax at 25% is also high. I haven't even included the withholding tax of 10%

The OECD countries (rich nations club) has an average corporate tax rate of 23.5%. If the government truly wants to encourage Foreign Direct Invest, it should nothing higher than 19.5%.

Manufacturing Association of Nigeria said it should be 20%.
Why's should a country in dire needs of investors be charging 30% CGT ... That is so lame
