Fantachapman:
The guy didn’t use any ics. My memory is a bit dim since this was a long time ago, 2009/2010. But I remember he used a heat gun and toothpaste. That was all. He was clueless. I never had time to take it to anyone else. YouTube didn’t really help much back then cos the videos I saw talked about using a hair dryer and covering the console with a thick towel or duvet to melt some metal plates in the system.

In some cases they put ic before heating and if there’s ic already, they just heat it & it’s not toothpaste they use

That’s the little I know

Fantachapman:
Please I have a PS3 extra fat. I bought it in 2007. It developed the RLOD problem in 2009/2010 thereabout and the repairer was clueless. Are there more technicians now who can repair it? If so where can I find them in Lag?

cc FavRicc

I don’t think there’s any remedy to that since someone has attempted to fix it and it didn’t work.

What they normally do is to put 1 or 2 ic to help boost the console.

oloko1859:
Oyinbo made slim & superslim for a reason

Google RLOD & you have the floor

RLOD is caused by hard drive (HDD) problems, often with the connection between the HDD and the motherboard of your PS3 fat which is in connection with the same heavy games I mentioned.

Sony released fat PS3 2006 while slim PS3 in 2009. You can’t say people that were using fat then were having issues before slim came out. If that should be the case, nobody would’ve patronized Sony PlayStation when slim was released in 2009.

I’m not trying to market for PlayStation oh. I’m just educating us on the difference btw fat, slim & super Slim & what can be done to maintain your console.

Secondly sir, PlayStation designed slim and then super Slim just to upgrade because there was\is a lot of competition in the game industry.

You can’t say Iphone released iPhone 8+ because iPhone 7+ Was having issues. No!

amnwa:
..

Whatever you do. Don't buy PS3 fat. Forget all this tins. Fat spoils easily and alot. No one in his senses wil recommend you to buy PS3 fat

That’s wrong to say Sir.

PS3 fat doesn’t spoil easily like u stated if you adhere to instructions.

Some customers insist I download heavy games but I tell them the implications. GTA is not a heavy game but I don’t install it on fat.

List of games I normally download on fat PS3
Pes
Fifa
Mgs
Fight night
Ninja garden
Mk
Blur
Motor storm.

4 games on a PS3 fat is cool... No issues

Luckki1001:
Thanks for the explanation. Really appreciate.

I am not sure I will be playing heavy games. Na old man I be. Street Fighter EX Plus a, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Crash Bandicoot, and maybe one or two car race games will suffice for me on the white PS3 fat console, afterall they are not heavy

Let me move this convo over to Whatsapp for a very good conclusion. Sha epp me ensure say the pads are original

alright

Luckki1001:
Pardon my ignorance, kind sir. I am not too savvy with this Playstation thingy anymore. Na PS1 I play last

What is the difference between both PSes given that they are both the same except for color differences and one being slim while the other one is fat?

I am trying to make up my mind which one to buy so your clarification will be very well appreciated. Thank you.

The biggest difference between the Super Slim and previous PS3 models is the power supply (PSU, or power supply unit), & console size.

The Super Slim does offer one major improvement: quiet fans. The Super Slim is the quietest home console I’ve ever used. It’s silent compared to the jumbo jet PS3 fat. there are games I don’t install on fat, reason is because they’re too heavy and Installing them on a fat console damages the processor.
