Ikenna351: You will meet a small bad road around Ajaokuta. After that, the rest is smooth. Though, from Otukpo to 9th mile Enugu is not that smooth. I found a smoother route to Enugu in my last trip last week.

Abuja-Lokoja-Ajaokuta-Otukpo-Enugu is the safest route to Eastern states. Longer, but safer. I have never used any other route other than that to East. Should take 7-8 hrs, if driven sensibly.

Enugu to uyo is just 250km but because the road is so bad it takes up to 5 to 6hrs to do.

Abuja to kaduna is a little over 211km and takes 1hr for the dare devils but 2hrs to 2.30 hrs for the saner ones among us.

Shd it be the enugu route or shd i take the east west road?

Justtobor: I recently took the PH -ikot abasi route, d road is quite good only if u can avoid passing through Eleme junction. That portion of the East -west road is horrible but if u know port harcourt well , u can go through elelenwo to avoid that part.Asides that part, the road is superb .I hope dis helps
Thanks. I don't know port harcourt at all not to talk of well, does that mean I would get lost? No visible signs to guide a first timer?

prinsbasy: My broda. Forget about all these long routes you're typing. Just do abj-lokoja-ajaokuta-ochadamu-otukpa- 9th mile-udi- agbani junction- umuahia - ikot ekpene-uyo. You'll save fuel and at least 80% of the road is in good condition. Except for some yeye custom officers around that ajaokuta bridge and SARS at okigwe axis, I think you're good to go. But make sure your papers are complete and correct. Because anti robbery police men are the real robbers on that road walahi.
Thanks but I can't find this on the map: ochadamu. You must mean Otukpo not Otukpa?

i need to go home for a funeral.

I know the normal routes are:

1.Abuja - Nassarawa - Otukpo - Nsukka - Enugu - Umuahia - Ikot Ekpene - Uyo

2.Abuja - Lokoja/Ankpa road - Lokoja/Ajaokuta Road - Asaba/Agbor Highway - Enugu/Onitsha Expressway - Onitsha Owerri Expressway - Aba Owerri Expway - Uyo

3. Abuja - Lokoja - Auchi - Onitsha - Owerri - Aba - Uyo

4. Abuja - Lokoja - Benue - Enugu - Umuahia - Ikot Ekpene - Uyo

But all 3 routes have something in common: passing through the bad Ikot ekpene/abia state route.

It should be possible to completely avoid the bad roads even if the journey is lengthier in theory by doing Abuja - Port Harcourt - Ikot Abasi - Uyo

But I haven't driven the route before.

I'd appreciate comments to enable me decide. In particular is the port harcourt - Ikot abasi - uyo route as good as some online comments make it appear.

Has anyone ever driven this exact same route? Please kindly put in a word for me
