Packaging of Tiles differ from one manufacturer to the other. Size of Tile also determines the quantity per carton. Some are packed per Sqm , 1.44sqm ,1.5sqm,1.92sqm,2sqm etc.

Nice contribution @Gbenke.
The conventional measurement for tiles is in per square meter used to know the area of a particular space to be tiled or the quantity of tiles to be used in a given area, but the packing from manufacturers is in meters i.e different manufacturers with different packing specifications.
