Crime / ‘miscreants, Not Lokoja Youths, Stoned Gov Bello’ by finally1(m): 1:56am On Sep 15, 2016 |
LOKOJA— Traditional leaders in Lokoja, Kogi
State, have maintained their ground that it
was miscreants and not youths of the town
that stoned Governor Yahaya Bello at a
Jumat prayer, penultimate Friday. Speaking yesterday at Lokoja Day celebration to mark the anniversary of Lokoja, which was founded on September 12, 1860, the Walin Lokoja, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Idrisu (retd), said Lokoja people had never had any cause to disagree with the governor to the extent of throwing stones at him. Idrisu said Lokoja people were peaceful and had high regards for constituted authority, adding “we have no reason to stone any governor. It is not in our character. We have never stoned any governor. “It was not Lokoja people that stoned the governor, but miscreants and criminals.” In the same vein, a former Permanent Secretary in the state, Aliyu Biya, said: “We are celebrating the Eid el-Adha, which was the sacrifice that was done by Prophet Abraham in obedience to God and we are using this opportunity to admonish everybody to be obedient to God and constituted authority. “We are using the event to also rally support behind the governor as we have been preaching about loyalty and obedience to constituted authority at all levels. www.vanguardngr.com/2016/09/miscreants-not-lokoja-youths-stoned-gov-bello/ mynd44 lalasticlala |
