The root of the problem is we're too multiethnic and diverse for this Presidential system of governance we're running. Regional governments with a strong Parliament best suits us.

The problem with nigeria is people view the economy as a cake to be shared. And there is competiton for the cake...and the cunning politican gets close enough to the sharing. That's why when many northern political and millitary leaders were killed in 1966, in what the coupists thought was a nationalist coup to save nigeria....it led to the incidents that led to the civil war because people thought that their access to government services and welfare was wrecked with the death of those leaders . And even if we split nigeria tomorrow...the same attitude will wreck the new countries (that's why I don't back secession for now....).

At the end, for me, we have to go to being a manufacturing economy. That way, corruption will reduce...that is why corruption is low in developed countries because it would harm their industries, and by extension their bottom line...

But anything to get rid of the cake mentality.

An honest leader can't be frustrated but will go all the way to make a few scapegoats even if it means ensuring death penalties for those convicted of corruption.
