Kalulu44:If I had my way: The board would create a template for performance. That template should be published to the public. How they recruit managers and the back team. How they select talent. What the plan is from U-13 to the senior team. They would make a projection for how long before the country becomes a continental and international powerhouse. I wish people would watch that YouTube interview with Yakubu. Like most things in Nigeria, we tend not to have a strategy for greatness. He expressed the joy one felt when promoted from the U-23 team to the Super Eagles. He called the Super Eagles of that time "men". Do we see our players of today as mature in their position? He opined that some players that made it to that world cup had no business being there - Ogbechie, Opabunmi, etc. He lampooned Onigbinde, and rightfully so. He spoke about his bond till this very day Bonfrere Jo. He spoke about how Bonfrere, invited him, managed his expectation exposed him to some technicalities and weaned him into the Super Eagles. I can forgive a player for a miss. I can forgive a manager for some on-the-field mishaps. I cannot forgive the FA for sabotage and negligence. I cannot forgive a manager for being negligent and just being outright incompetent. I cannot forgive a player that does not give his all for the team. |
