1. By "take" you refer to the proposals through the years made by US to buy Greenland. US is free to express interest in Greenland like anyone else if it considers its defence matters best handled by buying Greenland. However, Greenland has repeatedly said it is not for sale. Will you allow that? Wisdom dictates that US see how to ensure its interest is protected in the matter. That is what Trump is about. Much unlike Nigeria that spent so much helping SA against apartheid only to fail to properly plan how to reap the benefits accruable when SA became free from apartheid. Now SA citizens treat Nigerians contemptuously.
3. USA cannot force Canada to become part of America. That cannot happen. However, if a person lives off another it is expected that the host influence the fellow. Where that is not possible the host will take measures to ensure that he does not remain host to a parasitic organ. That's what's playing out in that respect.
4. International trade politics is playing out here. It makes sense to protect your economic interests where trade imbalance stares you in the face and your trading partners begin to give you the short end of the stick. With manufacturing in decline in US while on the rise in China which manufactures for US it is only smart to balance things out by using tariff measures. Anyone smart enough to appreciate these things will not do differently. And to think that China has no respect for human rights and freedom of the person from the oppression of The State!
