Smartguyboy:Same here, but it cut across other MMF too
|
234ng44uk:I have done as high as 40m on ARM before and reflected in less than 4 hours same day. I also find the limit with STANBIC a bit worrisome
|
bassdow:I am very well aware of that, but at least I counted my loses and moved on |
Preator:That was how I kept 50k in ARM Aggressive Fund some time in 2008 (10th April 2008 to be precise). At some point around August, 2011 the fund has gone down to N27,907.74. Fast forward to 2021 around December, I noticed the fund was a little bit above 51,000. I just sharply withdrawn my 50k leaving the 1k+ in there. Currently the balance on it is ₦3,466.70. You could imagine if I kept my 50k in MMF since 2011. So those risk are not what I'm willing to take any longer |
monikulapo:This is a discussion everyone is avoiding. We have seen how cowrywise is doing their reporting. What is so difficult for other fund manager to have such platform? |
Jeoma2024:As it has been discussed above, please read again. |
Jeoma2024:Yes, very possible. Just be making voluntary contributions at your pace. Just get in touch with any PFA of your choice, they will be glad help |
A305:Even with a clear heading that reads: "InvestNaija Market Watch: 11th of August 2025"; you still formed your opinion that it was from ChatGPT. Well, that is like a weekly investment update from Chapel Hill Denham who I maintain a fund with. I only shared because I felt it addressed the current happening and I never took credit for it. I could have removed the intro if I intend to do that ( at least I'm not dumb). Thanks for the summary anyway, I also found it interesting. |
InvestNaija Market Watch: 11th of August 2025 Happy Monday, INsider! New week, fresh opportunities and the market wasted no time making moves. The ASI posted a modest gain, but the real fireworks were in insurance stocks, which once again led the charge. Let’s break it down. 💱 Currency The Naira traded between ₦1,500 and ₦1,540 per US dollar, closing weaker at ₦1,535.93 (-0.15%) according to the CBN. Nigeria’s gross external reserves ticked up 0.33% to $40.29bn (as of 8 August 2025). 📌 What this means: A slight currency dip offsets the boost in reserves, FX stability remains a balancing act. 📊 Equities The NGX ASI rose by 0.09% to 145,880.77 points, pushing YTD gains to 41.73%. Gains in MTNN, DANGCEM, and ZENITH helped the index stay green. Top traded by volume: LINKASSURE (703.59mn), UNIVINSURE (230.54mn), AIICO (154.73mn) Top traded by value: STANBIC (₦1.70tn), LINKASSURE (₦1.60tn), ZENITHBANK (₦1.20tn) Sector snapshot: Gainers: Insurance (+9.74%), Consumer Goods (+0.97%), Banking (+0.44%) Losers: Industrial (-1.47%), Oil & Gas (-0.56%) 🟢 Top gainers: AIICO (+10.00%), SUNUASSUR (+10.00%), STANBIC (+10.00%) 🔴 Top losers: ABBEYBDS (-10.00%), ABCTRANS (-10.00%), UACN (-9.99%) 📌 What this means: Investors continue to pour into insurance names, while industrial and oil & gas sectors face headwinds. 👀 Did You Know? The Insurance index’s +9.74% jump today is nearly double Friday’s rally, back-to-back strong sessions that could signal sustained investor momentum. 💵 Fixed Income OMO: Average benchmark yield fell 5bps to 25.46% as buyers dominated across all maturities. NTBs: Average yield slid 12bps to 16.59%, with notable demand for the Nov-25 (-37bps) bill. Bonds: Average benchmark yield rose 2bps to 16.30% as heavy selling hit Apr-37 (+52bps) and Jun-38 (+19bps). 📌 What this means: Short-term instruments are in demand, but longer-dated bonds saw profit-taking. 🏦 Money Market OPR eased 8bps to 26.42%, while O/N held at 27.00%. System liquidity tightened, with bank balances falling to ₦313.92bn from ₦750.31bn. 📌 What this means: Lower liquidity could push short-term borrowing costs higher later in the week, especially if demand for cash spikes ahead of mid-month settlements. 🌟 Mutual Fund Highlight – Chapel Hill Denham Paramount Fund (Equity) Closed at ₦50.49 as of 8 August 2025, with a YTD return of 65.82%. The fund’s performance reflects strong equity market momentum, especially in high-growth sectors like insurance and banking. 📌 What this means: Riding market rallies through an equity mutual fund can deliver impressive gains, remember capital is at risk. That’s your Monday market wrap, INsider. From insurance rallies to shifting bond yields, the week is already looking interesting. Let’s see where it goes. Stay INformed, The InvestNaija Team 📚 Glossary Corner: Today’s Market Terms, Simplified Mutual Fund: An investment that pools money from many investors to buy a diversified portfolio of securities. YTD (Year-to-Date): Measures how much an investment has gained or lost from the start of the year up to today. Liquidity: The amount of cash in the financial system, which affects interest rates. bps (Basis Points): A unit of measure in finance. 100bps = 1%. Used to describe rate changes. synoble:It has been established here that apart from Cowrywise that applies the rate the publish on their site each day without any variation, every other fund manager are not very transparent in this aspect. What I have published up there is the actual which you can verify yourself. It's a simple calculation. Apply the rate on your principal and multiply by 365. Let me know if you have what they published on their site as the rate. I don't know how they do their calculation. Only Cowrywise tallies per time |
Neurotika:Their Fees- Before I got upgraded to the current level with no fee to fund my account, it used to be N250 and N50 when you place a withdrawal. I'm not aware of other fee aside these 2 Ease of Redemption- I have to delay my response because I actually placed my first withdrawal yesterday around this time and exact 24 hrs as they stated, I have got the alert. So it's seamless To top up is as well very seamless |
chuxmgc:The same way you have been investing with others. Do your findings and proceed. Everything is in the web sapce |
ogoo4real:I don't do Axamansard really. I only do STANBIC, ARM & CIWRYWISE. I used to do Chapel Hill Denham but their rates is the lowest over time, so I have to take my fund. |
nickae:Yes, I also track cowry despite the fact that they are the most transparent in terms of reporting. I just don't understand why other MMF can not have a transparent reporting platform as cowrywise. Whatever they report is what you get real time. Please note my cowrywise account level is Bloom. So the returns are for High yield investment
|
nickae:The missing dates are probably the weekends or other public holidays. the average of those days is reported in the next reporting date. the highlighted yellow cell at the top represent the cumulative average for the quarter. |
ogoo4real:This is the actual with STANBIC having factored in their monthly reinvestment scheme.
|
yekini007:The is the reality with ARM now.
|
bassdow:please, which deposit money bank is ARM tied to? |
Tolu2024:I beg oo, just singed up on the cowryswise yesterday. Please don't hesitate to share any observation you make here as per you having been with them for some times. But the variation up there shouldn't cause for alarm shaa |
emmasoft:Thanks, is it like this?
|
emmasoft:Please how do i check my status and what do I do to change it? |
Please, the STANBIC MMF subscribers in the house. How are those guys treating their end of the quarter accrued earnings? I was expecting it to be nil off and added to the principal as a reinvestment so that new earning will start accruing. It's 48 hours in the new quarter and nothing has changed. Pls na so dem dey do over there? |
0ubenji:No, yesterday return was like that at my end too. I wouldn't know what would have warrant such a sharp drop
|
IllRatherNotSay:I still do not get that bold part |
0ubenji:She will not get explanation for you. They make it seem as it's a rocket science. Anyway we are still here for now |
nickae:It is not even clearly stated. or can you point out that to me? |
FRANKLYex:STANBIC too is of no different.
|
IllRatherNotSay:All their computation are in this way. I'm sick of it myself. This is my ARM computation and I have always referenced the previous day deposit for the current day earning, yet the average earning is 20%
|
nickae:Didn't you see the moniker oilmaney |
Please can we discuss the MMF & the real estate ![]() Does the real estate market really worth the hype? I want to be enlightened please like a dummy. |
drehdinho:The source data is my personal investment history. I am a regular investor. I top up almost everyday. There is a need for me to keep track and ensure nothing is missing. I have been keeping track since the 2nd quarter of 2024. The best I can share with you is the daily rates generated for some past period. |
