Earlier this week, I was at a HR office and I witnessed first hand, the dialogue between the HR manager and a potential employee.

 

“How much do we pay you?”, said the HR manager.

“Pay me what you have on your payscale”, replied the interviewee, sounding unsure.

 

I have not realised how dumb and unprofessional this reply is till I heard him utter them.

 

Going for an interview with a company, you should have at least done a background check (including their payscale) This shows you have done your homework.

 

You should reply with the sum you feel is worth your service(s). While it doesn’t mean that the figure you suggest will end up being what you’re paid, establishing a ground for negotiation gives you some level of authority.

 

Of course, if you are changing your job, it is only right to suggest a sum that is higher than that of your previous or current job.

 

Be smart about it, being overly demanding or too insisting will come off as rude. Convince the HR manager that you truly deserve to be paid the right sum.

I am worried. I don't know who else is thinking in the same way. For those who attended the assessment center this last Friday (25th November), were you allowed to partake in final face to face interview with any of the HR? Because surprisingly, my own assessment ended with the individual presentation after the group discussion and I was among the first to present. Doesn't it mean that the one to one interview has been skipped for us? I cannot stop imagining...

Am not sure and stand to be corrected but I can remember in biology we were told the bone marrow produces blood and they blood dies after a short while maybe a week or a month am not sure and the process continues . But when one loses a lot of blood, the bone marrow production can not meet up with the volume needed and hence the need for blood transfusion. But after a while this blood cells die too when the bone marrow had picked up its work and the PCV has increased so the person will now have just his own blood circulating. So whether a weed man gave him blood or not, if he is still smoking after two months , then he is a natural junky looking for who to blame for his habit

Ok let me try my best to explain as simple as possible
According to one of my lecturers
At the inception this various degree of engineering were designed to fill specific roles but over time especially in Nigeria, everything don turn the same the same.
1) B.sc in engineering this categories of engineers are closely related to the pure science student like physics neuro-physic , geophysics etc they mostly concentrate on doing engineering research that can better improve technological advancement in the country e g some engineers in Samsung are researching on how to better build the S8 so it won't be a machine bomb like S7

2) B.Eng this categories of engineers are supposed to build on the result of the B.sc and to come up with intelligent design of new and innovative product. This are expected to be more professionally challenged becos they are expected to be thinkers and creative. Eg some engineers in Samsung are currently designing how the S8 is gonna look like and it functionality. Note there are just about 5-7 university in the whole of Nigeria offering B.Eng. ask most of your engineering uncles na B.tech them get. A B.Eng holder is free not to know how to use a screw driver

3)B.tech now this are the real or percieved engineers. They are exposed to more practical work while in school and are supposed to know how to transform the designs made by B.Eng into solid object. They use engineering precision to transform paper to metals. (See it this way B.Eng can be an architect while B.tech is the civil engineer to build this is just an analogy)

4) finally HND this ones are very close tho the B.tech but they are not as knowledgeable as the b.tech engineers. This categories focus mainly on instrumentation and how to use some engineering tools and machines. They work with B.tech during the building like assistants collecting directives on what to do. They also carry out repairs on object designed by B.Eng ,built by B.tech.

NOTE OVER TIME, MOST OF THIS CATEGORIES HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO THE SAME FUNCTIONS NOW AND THEY MAJORLY CARRY OUT REPAIRS IN NIGERIA WHICH IS THE WORK OF THE HND PPLE.

Finally we have the artisans, they didn't study engineering or at most they have OND but mastered the skill overtime. In Nigeria, most eventually become as knowledgeable as the rest overtime with experience and the fact that they get most of the work done in our country
