dax: Pls i have a 406 naija made 2001 model with ew10 engine, the problem is that it brings out black smoke and backfires when driving,consumes alot of fuel, we changed d injector top n nozzles n plugs to no avail, i took it for diagnosis n d say dat its d oxygen sensor wich i changed, d engine check light is always on but wen we diagnose it we clear d faults but it always comes back, stating that the knock n oxygen sensors are faulty. when we clear d faults d vehicle becomes smooth only to go back again after a lil time. now d sayin i should change d sensors again,feel d r doin trial n error only. what i do? Thanks gu

Have you cleaned the Throttle body?
check to see if no layer of sticky carbon buildup around the idle air control (IAC) valve- throttle position sensor (TPS).

yes she does share engine with other PSA products such as 206,307 and 406 with the following engine code: 1.4 (TU5JP ) 1.6 (TU5JP) , 2.0 (ew10).
the suspensions are different from that of Peugeot(406,407..). however you can modify it but i won't suggest you do such, because it will affect the stability of the car.
Reliability
Based on my personal experience, Citreon Picasso is a nice MPV. elle est génial et agréable a conduire.
My wife has been driving it around for over a year now and we haven’t experience any mishap for the moment, all it’s been wonderful.
as for the availability of its parts in Nigeria am uncertain, but am sure you can get them from the neighbouring countries.

what you call Black engine is the : 1,8 16v PSA XU7 (JP)- 112ch
The silver engine is of 2 types: Ew7 & Ew10.

Question 2: Both are good if well maintained. However the Ew's are more powerful than the XU's.
Nigerians also prefer the Ew's that the one you call the silver engine
