ijeoma100: None of this is going to stop damage to the heart muscles and it's wrong to assume that there is "only 10 seconds left before losing consciousness". A lot of times the first sign of a heart attack is death. Other times, people have heart attacks and don't even know it. And besides, when a heart attack does strike there's usually so much pain in the chest that it's hard to do anything, talk less of coughing and taking deep breaths. The advice you've given might be useful if there are palpitations (a sensation of a heart beat, irregular or not), but I'm afraid won't be too helpful in the case of a full blown heart attack.

The best thing to do is to get yourself down to the nearest proper hospital right away. To tell the truth, in Nigeria where there's isn't an emergency response team and there isn't an acute cardiac unit, the chance of survival after a heart attack is mostly down to luck, and most hospitals haven't a clue of how to properly treat a heart attack according to modern guidelines.
