The objective of soccer is to score more goals than the other team.

The team with more goals wins the game.
Scoring

To score, the ball most pass completely over the goal-line.
Pitch/Field

The game is played on a soccer pitch that varies in size. An 11 versus 11 game is usually a little over 100 yards.
Captains

Captains are either elected by teammates or chosen by the team’s coach.

Captains must wear an arm-band with the word “captain.”

A captain must be in the game at all times (in professional soccer). If the captain is subbed out he must give his armband to another player.
Starting a Game

To start a game, each team’s captain meets with the referee.

The referee flips a coin and one captain calls “heads” or “tails.”

The winner of the coin flip can choose which goal his team will defend (teams will switch sides at halftime) or whether his team will kick off in the first or second half.
Kick-Off

The ball is placed in the middle of the line separating the pitch into an offensive and defensive half.

Players must stay on their half. Crossing the line that separates the pitch is illegal until the ball is passed.

The team NOT kicking off cannot enter the circle until the ball is passed. Anyone on the team kicking off can enter the circle on their half.

The player who “kicks off” must pass the ball forward (across the line that separates the pitch.

The game starts after the kickoff.
Length of a Soccer Game

A soccer game lasts 90 minutes.

There are two 45 minute halfs. There is a break between halfs.

If the score is tied, the game may go into overtime. Overtime consists of two 15 minutes halfs.

The clock never stops. However, there are times when play is stopped (most commonly during injuries).

The unused time is recorded and added on at the end of a game. It’s called injury or stoppage time.
Penalty Kick

A penalty kick (or PK) occurs when an attacking player is fouled in the defending team’s box.

The ball is placed on the penalty kick spot (a dot inside the goalie box).

The offensive team selects a kicker. Other players must stand outside the box until the ball is kicked.

Play is resumed after the ball is kicked. For example, if the ball hits the post or the goalie blocks it, any player can shoot the ball into the goal.
Penalty Shootout

A penalty shoot-out occurs when a game is tied after extra time.

The 22 players that are on the field can participate (however, this rule is often ignored in nonprofessional games; in other words, players on the bench can usually kick a penalty kick).

In a penalty shootout one player performs a penalty kick against the opposition’s goalie.

The kicker is changed everytime. Players cannot take more than one penalty kick in a penalty shootout. Unlike regular penalty kicks, other players cannot follow up if the ball is saved or it hits the post.

Teams take turns. Each team has 5 penalty kicks. The team that scores the most wins.

If it becomes impossible for one team to win (for instance, one team scores 3 penalty kicks while the other scores 0) the other team wins.

If the score is tied after 5 penalty kick “sudden death” begins. The first team to go up a point (after both teams have gotten a chance to shot a PK) wins.
Player on the Pitch

Each team has 10 field players and one goalie on the pitch.
Substituting

Substituting means switching out a player on the field with a teammate who isn’t playing.

Players “on the bench” can be substituted in during breaks in play (such as a throw-in or after a goal).

In professional play, three substitutions are allowed (and the players cannot return to the pitch). However, most nonpro leagues disregard those rules.
Goalie

The goalie can use his hands in the box.

He can dive at the ball (even if another player is close).

Each team has one goalie. Each goalie must wear a jersey with different colors than both teams.
Referees

Referees control the game. They can stop the game and call for a free kick if a foul occurs.

They blow their whistle when time is up or to indicate that a player can take a free kick.

10 basic rules for soccer?
I need 10 basic rules for soccer for a PE project. Please give me 10 or more. The soccer you play with your feet, not football. thanks!

Best Answer
1. Play the ball, not the player. All your actions must be directed at controlling the ball or taking away possession, but never to stop a player or tackle him.
2. You may use any part of your body to control the ball, except for your arms and hands.
3. The goalkeeper, when inside his own penalty area, is the only player on the team that may use his hands or arms to control the ball. There are certain restrictions on this though.
4. 11 players on a team, 1 of which is the goalkeeper.
5. If the ball leaves the pitch, the restart depends on where the ball left the field and who touched it last. For example, if the ball crosses the goal line while entering the goal, the restart is a kick-off for the team scored upon.
6. Matches last 90 minutes, divided into two halves of 45 minutes each. A kick-off is used to start play each half.
7. Offside is one of the shortest laws in the Laws of the Game, however it is one of the most misunderstood laws. Basically at the time the ball is played by a teammate, if you are closer to your opponent's goal line than the second-to-last defender and the ball, and you are in the opponent's half of the field, if you become involved (i.e. receive the ball on a pass, screen the goalkeeper) then you have committed the offside offense. It is not an infraction to be in an offside position, however once you become involved in play the infraction has occurred.
8. A yellow card signals a caution. Reasons you receive a caution include: persistent infringement, dissent, unsporting behavior, failure to respect required distance on a restart, and entering or leaving the field without the referee's permission.
9. A red card signals a send-off. If you receive one you must leave the field and the area surrounding the field immediately. Your team must also play with one less player as well. Reasons you receive a send-off include: receiving a second caution in a match, serious foul play, spitting at anyone, violent conduct, and denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by committing a foul.
10. The object of the game is to score more goals than the other team. You score goals by having the ball completely cross the goal line and entering the goal.
11. The referee is the sole authority on the pitch. He may have assistants to help him control the game.
12. Committing a foul usually results in a free kick for the other team. Free kicks may be direct or indirect (cannot score a goal directly on an indirect free kick). If the foul occurs inside your own penalty area, it may be a penalty kick which is a one-on-one showdown between a kicker and the goalkeeper

We have extracted the top 10 basic rules of basketball for beginners. These simple regulations follow the most popular and well known variant. They are formulations of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and NCAA in North America.
1. Aim of Basketball Game

Describing the objective of the game is the first of 10 basketball rules. Team players try to score points by shooting the basketball ball through the opposing team's basket hoop.

Note: Both hoops should be securely elevated 10 feet above the floor of the court.
2. Basketball Equipment

The official rules of basketball state the games should get played indoors on rectangular solid flooring (the court). There is a hooped scoring ring at each end and the teams play with an inflated round ball.
3. The Players

The game gets played by two teams with a squad of 12 players to choose from. Basketball basic rules allow a maximum of 5 players allowed on the court at any one time. But there are no limits to the number of basketball player substitutions allowed.
4. Starting the Game

A jump ball or tip-off starts the game. The referee lobs the ball into the air above the center circle. Two opposing players will then leap up while trying to tap it away.
5. Five Rules of Basketball Play

Players move the ball around the court using dribbling, passing, tapping, rolling, and throwing techniques.
Each player can take two taps before the ball hits the ground, a basket, a backboard or another player.
But, unlike some weird and wonderful sports, the most important rule is that you are not allowed to run with the ball.
Players must pass the ball to a teammate or shoot for goal after putting two hands on the ball (not including catching it).
Winning possession of the ball in your own half mean you must travel over the half way line within 10 seconds to avoid a foul.

6. Match Duration

As a rule basketball matches consist of four quarters of 10 minutes each quarter. There is a 15-minute break at half-time between the end of the second and start of the third period. There is a two-minute interval between the first and second, and third and fourth periods.
7. Scoring Points

Shooting the basketball through your opponent's hoop scores points for your team. A goal inside the three-point semi-circle achieves a score of two. Goals scored from outside are worth three points.

Free throws must get taken from the free-throw line awarded after a foul and are worth one point.
8. Officiating in Basketball

The list of rules of basketball officials usually includes one basketball referee and one umpire. They swap places after each foul involving a free throw penalty or jump ball decision. Basketball officials use whistles and hand signals to officiate and explain their decisions.
9. Basketball Violations

This simplification of 10 basketball rules for beginners includes a reference to game infringements. Normal play must stop after all rules violations and the other team gains possession of the ball.
Ball Handling Violations

Double Dribble | Traveling | Back Court | Three-Second Rule | Five-Second Possession Violation | Ten-Seconds In The Backcourt | Five-Second Inbound Violation

Space or Lane Violation

Lane Violation

Common Fouls

Shooting Foul | Technical Foul | Reaching In | Charging | Holding | Hand Check | Blocking | Flagrant Foul

10. Winning the Game

The final regulation in a list containing 10 basic basketball rules is knowing when you have won the game. The winning team is the one who scores most points in the allocated game time.

The match continues with an extra period of five minutes if tied after the fourth period. You may also use further five-minute periods to decide a winner.

Rules and Regulations of Tennis
The rules of tennis extend from court rules all the way to the tennis rules of the game during play. Below is a relatively cropped-up list of tennis rules and regulations, some general and some game related. We will not go into the details of the rules governing the tennis court dimensions, the fixtures on court and the sizes and lengths of various things. We will just get to business and see the rules that you should know as a tennis player.

Tennis Gear
As with most sports, when playing professional tennis, the tennis players are expected to wear proper tennis shoes. This rule was made to protect the tennis court from blemishes and tread marks. Black-soled shoes are not allowed on the court, as they may leave blemishes on the court.

Tennis Rackets
A tennis racket is only legal if it has all the stitches attached and unbroken, does not have any energy source attached that can affect the play and does not have more than one set of stringed patterns on it. Vibration dampening devices are only allowed if they are placed outside the criss-crossed string pattern.

Service or Court
The player that wins the toss is expected to choose either the side from where he prefers playing or the serve. If the toss winner chooses to serve, the other player automatically gets the choice of court side. When a server is serving in a game, the receiver is allowed to stand outside the court lines if he wishes to do so. The players are supposed to change court sides on the completion of every odd game, i.e. the first, third, etc.

Service
All serves that fall in the opponent's service box and are served from behind the out-of-bounds lines are counted as good serves. In lawn tennis, a server is allowed to make underhanded serves. The service can only be counted as legal when the opponent is ready to receive it. The server loses the point if he makes a double fault on his serve (that is, he cannot get a good serve despite having two chances to do so).

Continuous Play
The game of tennis once started must be in continuous play till the match ends. Twenty seconds are allowed between points and ninety seconds are given for players to change ends at the end of a game. At the conclusion of each set, a maximum of 120 seconds are given to the players.

Scoring
In a standard game of tennis, the scores are called out keeping the server's scores first. When both players are on zero, it is termed as a love all start. Having no points are referred to as love while the first, second, third and fourth points are called out as 15, 30 40 and Game respectively. When both the players have won three points, the score is termed as a Deuce and a deuce extends the game by one additional point. That is, after a deuce comes Advantage (awarded to whichever player wins the points) and after advantage comes Game. An advantage game reverts back to deuce if the player fails top convert his advantage into a game. In other words, a player must win two consecutive points after a deuce to win a game.

Other Miscellaneous Rules
There are many other rules and regulations, but mentioning all of them is impossible for the scope of an article. Some miscellaneous tennis rules are listed below:

All tennis players must show courtesy and respect towards all the on-court and off-court judges. If this rule is found to be breached, the player can be punished with anything ranging from a fine to a suspension, depending on the severity of the breach.
All players are expected to empty their pockets before the game begins, so that anything left in the pockets does not serve as a distraction for either of the players.
Before the start of each tour season, all tennis players are asked to submit to a drug test. During the season though, any player can be asked to submit to a random drug test, despite having been cleared in the 'start of the season' drug test.

Basic Tennis Shots
Here is a list of some common shots in tennis that every tennis player should be aware of.

Serve
Forehand
Backhand
Double-handed Backhand
Top Spin
Slice
Drop Shot
Volley
Lob
Overhead Smas

What Is Soccer?

a form of football played between two teams of 11 players, in which the ball may be advanced by kicking or by bouncing it off any part of the body but the arms and hands, except in the case of the goalkeepers, who may use their hands to catch, carry, throw, or stop the ball.

The game of soccer -- more commonly referred to outside the United States as football -- has long been one of the most popular sports in the world. With origins that date back many centuries, soccer is played by young children, college students and professionals. Amateur clubs and weekend warriors add to the passion that swells up every four years for the most-watched sporting event in the world, the World Cup.

History

Although soccer's international governing body, the International Federation of Association Football, recognizes the birth of the modern game as 1863 in England, the deepest origins go back centuries. The Han Dynasty in the second century B.C. saw the emergence of a game similar to soccer called tsu' chu. Several centuries after that, the Japanese game Kemari began. Kemari was less competitive, with participants passing the ball from one another using their feet, trying to keep it from touching the ground. Much later, a violent town game emerged called mob football in Europe during the Middle Ages.

Premise and Rules

The game of soccer is built around the pursuit of scoring goals. Teams move the the ball up and down the field in an attempt to kick it within the goal, a framework that measures 8 feet in height and 24 feet in width at the professional level. The player guarding the goal, the goalkeeper, is the only player on a team typically allowed to touch the ball with his hands. Except during a throw-in, the other players must use their feet, knees, head and chest to control and advance the ball. A regulation game is played in two 45-minute halves.

Players and Boundaries

Eleven players, including the goalkeeper, are allowed on the field at one time for each team. These players must keep the ball in play on a rectangular field that measures between 100 and 130 yards in length and 50 and 100 yards in width. The builders of an individual stadium or field determine the dimensions for their facility based on how close they want the fans to the field, the style of game -- a smaller field provides greater advantage to the technical, rather than fast, players -- and the attendance capacity they hope to manage.

Corner Kicks

If the ball crosses the goal line -- the line creating the width of the field -- and the defense touches it last, its opponents are allowed a corner kick. On a corner kick, the ball is placed within an arc laid out at one of the two corners on the side where it went out. A player from the offensive team kicks it from there, typically aiming it to an area in front of the goal in the hope that one of his players can deflect it into the goal for a score.

Penalty Kicks

Fouls and penalties committed by one team can lead to penalty kicks for the opposing team. This occurs when a foul is committed inside the penalty area -- anywhere 18 yards and in from the goal line -- and the player suffering the foul receives a penalty kick. For such a kick, the ball is placed 12 yards from the goal line and the fouled player kicks toward the goal, facing the goalkeeper only -- a great chance to score.
Free Kicks

Free kicks occur when a foul is committed -- usually a player tripping or pushing an opponent inside the penalty area. This type of kick does not feature the one-on-one matchup against the goalkeeper. Instead, the opposing team may line its players up no closer than 10 yards from the ball. If the referee determines that the free kick should be a direct free kick, the player taking the free kick may kick the ball in the goal without having it touch another player first. An indirect free kick must touch another player before going in the goal. The type of free kick is determined by the nature of the foul.

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams of five players, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately 9.4 inches (24 cm) in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket 18 inches (46 cm) in diameter mounted 10 feet (3.048 m) high to a backboard at each end of the court) while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. After a foul, timed play stops and the player fouled or designated to shoot a technical foul is given one or more one-point free throws. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but if regulation play expires with the score tied, an additional period of play (overtime) is mandated.

Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules.[1] It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since 1964.

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to maneuver the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball will not gain a point, while the opposite player will.

Table tennis, also known as ping-pong, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a table using small bats. The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce one time on their side of the table, and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side at least once. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. This high intense sport consists of [3]Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage.

Rugby union, commonly known in most of the world as rugby,[3] is a contact team sport which originated in England in the first half of the 19th century.[4] One of the two codes of rugby football, it is based on running with the ball in hand. In its most common form, a game is between two teams of 15 players using an oval-shaped ball on a rectangular field with H-shaped goalposts on each try line.
