Paying fine is an insult to the victim. Money won't heal her from the trauma, money doesn't do that. And giving him that small sentence means he'll get out of jail to inflict that rape pain to another unlucky victim. Do you know of this phrase: "repeat offenders"? Yes, it's an actual thing.

I know why you're fighting for this man's case though. You know/have met people who commits the crime he has done and you wonder their fate were they to be caught. Stop fighting for rapists. Men who don't have control over their preeqs are worse than wild animals.

Ok, I understand your point of view. But any JUSTICE without financial profit to the victim is of no use to the victim directly. The compensation must be profitable. Because there is a gravity to crimes, as far as rape is concerned, the justice should be profitable directly to the victim and not the government or state. So it should include financial compensation for the victim and some years in prison for the state.
After all sex can be bought with money. Everyone has their different prices. There is a gravity to crimes, my fellow Nigerians. This man has not taken anybody's life.

Sorry oo. I understand some of you can be very upset with matters of rape. I come in peace. I just want to argue constructively. Please can you explain how the victim will profit or gain or be compensated by the man spending his life in prison for the crime of forcely having sex with her? Will the memory of the rape experience be cleared and her hymen fixed back by the man spending his life in prison?

See, if someone rapes my daughter, I would not be happy if the person is given life in imprisonment. That's rubbish. There are other severe punishments and even heavy monetary compensation. Money solves almost all problems.
Why not fine the man 10m Naira in compensation to the victim plus 5 years in prison. Not a life in imprisonment. He didnt kill her for crying out loud . And by the way, what is even rape? Rape means forcely having sex with someone against his or her wish. The politicians who are actually raping the masses and causing untold hardship and deaths everyday have not even been sentenced to even 5 years in prison. Abegi, rape should NEVER carry life imprisonment. It's an overkill. Nonsense judgement. Now what is the girls profit in the man spending his life in prison. When the judge should have fined the man 20m Naira plus some years in prisons. By so doing, the victim will use the money to console herself. Our Judges no get sense.
