pokkadot: this report lacks substance. it looks like something written by the police to praise themselves for doing nothing. where are the 18 suspects they claim to have arrested? have they been taken to court? or is it only in the imagination of the writer. the day the police does away with their inferiority complex and face their job, that's the day they will get respect from Nigerians. kudos ko, kudos niYour talking!!! how was the investigation carried out? how did they tie the stolen blackberry phone of oyerinde to the culprits? how did they arrive at the eighteen suspects? nigerians should demand a full report on the investigation under the Free of Information act to enable us know what the Nigerian Police is up to. There should be a full press statement detailing how they achiecved thier untold success. I hope they dont kill all the oyerinde suspects before they appear in court? |

ABUJA—THE national leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, urged Nigerians to disregard the antics of those whom it said were hell bent on stunting the growth of democracy in Nigeria. PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, however, expressed surprise at what he described as the the knee jerk reactions of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, over its appeal for losers of elections to accept results in good faith, adding, “those who have refused to accept a decent political culture are gradually being left behind.” The statement read, ‘’the PDP bemoaned the uncouth reaction of both parties to an innocent advice intended to further stabilise Nigeria’s democracy. “The PDP is alarmed at the hot air blown by the ACN and CPC over a simple advice for losers of elections to demonstrate sportsmanship. In giving this advice, we expected a sober reflection from those who have attempted to drag our democracy back through needless and endless litigations.” They must be made to realize that there must be winners and losers in every contest”. The PDP spokesman denounced the notion that elections in Nigeria can only be classified as free and fair when opposition parties win, adding, “this idea is not only self-serving and negative but also an attempt to discredit the rights of Nigerians to free choice. If we are in politics to serve the people, we must learn to honour their choice whether it favours us or not”. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/11/obama-pdp-fires-back-at-acn-cpc/ |

The suspect who was arrested with another Boko Haram operative, Kabir Sokoto in January, 2012, allegedly escaped from the cell where he was kept with other terror suspects. Though, the Force Headquarters claimed that no terror suspect escaped, security sources confirmed that Mohammed absconded from custody. The details of his escape was however sketchy as at the time of filing this report. A similar incident happened early this year when Sokoto, the alleged mastermind of the Christmas Day bombing of Saint Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State, escaped from police custody at Abaji, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory. Arrested at the Borno State Governor’s Lodge, Abuja, Sokoto was said to have escaped while being taken for a search of his apartment 24 hours later. But Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said no terror suspect escaped from its custody, adding that a check of its records showed no such name as Mohammed on its list of detainees. He said, “The police authority hereby informs the public that the information being circulated by TV Station is totally untrue and should be disregarded in its entirety.” http://news.naij.com/14066.html Why is there so much INCOMPETENCE in the NPF, order security agencies has gone as far as to bring stability to the nation, risk either lives in situations that are your statutory duties to the nation but you come out every time compromise WHY ![]() ![]() ![]() Produce Sani Mohammed and gain the public confidence for once in your miserable lifes!!!! |

The quality of South Africa’s maths and science education has been ranked last in a survey of 62 countries by the World Economic Forum. The report ranked South Africa 54th when it came to gross tertiary enrolment — behind India, but ahead of Morocco, Ghana, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Pakistan, Kenya, and Tanzania. The country placed 28th overall, and was the top-ranked sub-Saharan African country. The forum’s annual financial development report, which links human capital to economic development, was released on Monday. Together with taxes, infrastructure and the cost of doing business, human capital contributes to a supportive business environment. South Africa’s non-banking financial services, such as mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings (IPO), insurance and securitisation, were ranked 22nd, and financial stability 17th — a “slight improvement”. “These changes were driven by greater currency stabilisation (28th) and more robust IPO (26th) and securitisation activity (44th),” according to the report. South Africa’s business environment (42nd) was the country’s weakest area. Despite an efficient tax regime (16th), there was a “very weak” human capital pool (52nd) and underdeveloped infrastructure (51st). However, there was a comparatively strong institutional environment (25th), resulting from good corporate governance mechanisms (11th) and an ability to effectively enforce contracts (19th). In terms of financial access (36th), South Africa offered varied results, according to the report. “On the one hand, commercial access scores (16th) are solid and improving, while retail access (41st) is relatively weak and declining.” — Sapa Read more http://magazinegh.com/ghana-ranks-last-in-maths-education/ |
WASHINGTON (AFP) – Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Thursday nominated a former senior commander in Afghanistan as the new head of the military’s Africa Command, which oversees US security efforts on the continent. The change in leadership comes amid growing concerns over Al-Qaeda’s affiliates in the region, particularly in Mali, and a deadly attack on a US consulate in Libya linked to Islamist extremists. Panetta said General David Rodriguez, who served as the deputy American commander in Afghanistan and helped plan the “surge” of additional troops in the war, was well-suited to the post. As chief of the NATO-led force’s joint command, Rodriguez “oversaw the coalition and Afghan forces during the surge, and was a key architect of the successful campaign plan that we are now implementing,” Panetta told a news conference. Rodriguez, known by troops as “General Rod” and who currently serves as head of US Army Forces command, was touted as a possible chief commander for Afghanistan last year. The job however went to a Marine, General John Allen, who after a year in Kabul is due to hand over soon to another Marine, General Joseph Dunford. If his nomination is confirmed by the Senate as expected, Rodriguez will succeed General Carter Ham, who played a key role in the NATO air war in Libya. As head of Africa Command, Rodriguez would help oversee counter-terrorism missions in Somalia, Yemen, Mali, Nigeria and elsewhere, as well as training and other efforts designed to bolster US military ties across the region. The command’s headquarters is based in Stuttgart, Germany. Panetta also named General John Paxton as the new number two of the US Marine Corps, as the outgoing assistant to the commandant, Dunford, will soon be taking over as the top US and NATO military chief in Afghanistan. |
