ABOUT THE ICAN EXAM:
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ICAN professional examination is a globally recognized exam. It is written in Nigeria and other countries May and November yearly. It is the exam level written by graduates of any discipline.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants ICAN was established by Acts of parliament No. 15 of 1965. It issues the Associate Chartered Accountant ACA certificate to students upon completion of the Institute’s professional exams. The ACA certificate is globally recognized as the ICAN syllabus is in line with that of England and Whales. ICAN is an active member of International Federation of Accountants IFAC and a leading member of Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa ABWA
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE FOR THE INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS ICAN PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION
The first thing you need to do to begin your Chartered Accountancy career is to register as a student member of ICAN with a registration fee of N7,000 payable to any bank together with a referee who must be a Chartered Accountant. REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
Registration as a student member of ICAN enrolls you as a student and therefore allocates a registration number to you inorder to begin the ICAN professional exam which has three stages.
However, if you have an accounting degree, you will be exempted from writing all papers at the first stage and two papers at the second stage if you apply for exemption with the payment of the appropriate exemption fee.
If you have any management or social science degree, you will be exempted from writing two papers at the first stage if you apply for exemption with the payment of the appropriate exemption fee.
If you have a science degree, you will be exempted from writing one paper at the first stage if you apply for exemption with the payment of the appropriate exemption fee.
If you have a law degree, you will be exempted from writing one paper at the first stage if you apply for exemption with the payment of the appropriate exemption fee.
