2. Can you list Obi's election petitions at the tribunal and let's analyze them one by one? You must also think I'm jobless to be responding to your mumu questions. Go on Twitter and type, 2023 election malpractices and come back to update us on how many was in favor of Peter Obi vs Your messiah. Also, it's low use of brain cells that will make you always think that, people complaining about the current hardship in the land, has anything to do with Peter Obi. |

Politics › Re: Abapower Increases Tariff: Band A MD2 is 241 per kWh, B And E Non MD is 145 by GigFc(m): 4:05pm On Jan 06, 2025 |
twosquare: Well, tarrif should stabilise; however, truth be told, there is no where the cost of electricity is cheap in the world. I am not talking of the direct consumers (that is, us). I am talking of investing in energy generation and distribution. It involves heavy capital. Until those idiats start investing billions of dollars in it rather than funding useless wars, then it will remain like that for a long time.
Nikola Tesla envisioned a world where electricity is free, but do they made it happen? Human greed knows no bound. To know that energy too is capital intensive is putting up a solar installation...now imagine it on a large scale, because these things are built to last, not with inferior materials. Now, I am talking of thermal or hydro plants.
So, the investor will want to recoup the money. These guys are not Father Christmas but sharks. Now you will understand when people for obodo oyinbo go shout on you when you turn heater or anything like that because of the bills. You go think say wetin dey there sef...now you know.
Someone once said on X or so years back that Nigerians cannot afford 24/7 electricity supply if government decides to provide it. Now, it appears na true with all these Band A wailings.
As for the office, I can't speak for them or what they do. If they use quality products and know what they are doing, it will work for them but if they just rely on giving out the contracts without personal research and some knowledge about it, dem go use dem chop wella. If research labs in universities in this country could use solara nd it works for them, why not the office.
Of course, industries, because for me, the breakthrough in solar technology is not here yet. We are still like the computer generation where 2MB storage is like big shelf in the 60s... It's fallacious that energy must be expensive in Nigeria, because it's expensive in the UK or US. The facilities that they are currently extracting energy for the so called band A distribution has already been built and financed from tax payers money. Also, the fuel (gas and hydro) are readily available in Nigeria, within the control of the government and nature, so what then is responsible for this hike, if not greed? Greed at the detriment of an industrialized nation. If a home is struggling to keep lights and AC on, of less than 2hp, how will industries cope? The ones that can, won't the also inflate the cost of their goods and services? And who then bears the final brunt of it all? Solar should only remain a backup and never a main source of power. |
Politics › Re: Abapower Increases Tariff: Band A MD2 is 241 per kWh, B And E Non MD is 145 by GigFc(m): 2:05pm On Jan 06, 2025 |
SULBELL: You are looking at it from the wrong perspective. Agreed that most will likely change batteries now had they agreed with him then, the overall cost of the setup will still be far more less than using power from disco. Also factor that they will not be affected by grid breakdown or faulty transformers which may warrant them to use generators as backup.
Using myself as a case study, I have been on solar for 4years counting, though I must say my batteries are not as optimal as when they were new, I still get 24hr supply keeping my sun down load to 400w. but when sun is up, I use all appliance in my house with reckless abandonment
Even if there is need to change my batteries today, I will gladly do without looking back, and those are even tubular batteries. If I go lithium, worries on batteries will be less as it has a longer life span. Please leave this solar talk, I know an office that invested heavily in solar and it was largely unreliable for them, even tho they stay in a high irradiation area. We shouldn't be running away from the problem, but confronting it. Will industries also run on solar? How can people be turning off light, fridge and ac because one greedy investor has bribed nerc to keep hiking tariff unnecessarily? So what will heavy duty industries now do? Is that not economic sabotage? There's a reason why serious nations don't leave their critical infrastructure like energy, defence, etc in the hands of capitalist. You will kill your country. |

Them surpassing their revenue target is not necessarily a good thing. The high cost of import duties that accounts for the increase in revenue borne by importers, will simply be passed on to the consumers. This is the sad reality, the consumers are everyday Nigerians. |
