Business › Re: What Obasanjo, Museveni & Others Said At The Groundbreaking Of Dangote Refinery by Glister: 9:52am On Oct 02
Greatest President Of Our Time.Thank u Baba!
naptu2:
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo

President Obasanjo said that we had been producing cement in Nigeria for almost 60 years, yet we were still importing. Most of the cement in Nigeria was imported, yet we had all the natural resources to make cement.

"This kept me up one night and I couldn't sleep. I phoned Aliko at 5am. He sounded sleepy, so I asked if I had woken him and he replied that he was awake.

I asked him to see me at 7am.

He replied that it was bad enough that I had woken him, but now I was asking him to see me at 7am when the first flight from Lagos to Abuja was 7am.

I asked how soon he could see me and he said 9am.

He came at exactly 9am.

I asked him why he was still importing cement when everything necessary to make cement was available in Nigeria.

He said, "Mr President, it is cheaper to import cement than it is to manufacture cement in Nigeria.

I asked him what he needs in order to be able to make cement in Nigeria.

He replied, "Make it as easy to make cement in Nigeria as it is to import.

I still hadn't got the answer so I asked him, "What do I need to do to make you manifacture cement in Nigeria"?

He said, "Tie my importation of cement to my manifacturing of cement in Nigeria".

I said that he should go. I have gotten my answer."

President Obasanjo had asked Dangote if he was sure that he could make cement in Nigeria. Dangote said that he could produce 50 million metric tonnes of cement. President Obasanjo told him to bring a plan for 50 million metric tonnes, which he did.

Obasanjo said that senior civil servants told him that Dangote was lying and that he could not produce 50 million tonnes of cement and that he just wanted import licenses. Obasanjo said that he simply thought, "We shall see".

He said that Dangote was building the largest cement plant in Africa and he (Obasanjo) put two security people at the plant. They reported back to Obasanjo on activities at the plant. Any day that work did not take place, they would tell Obasanjo and Obasanjo would call Dangote and tell him that there was no work at the site and Dangote would tell Obasanjo the reason why it was so.

One day Dangote came to Obasanjo and told him that he (Obasanjo) made him worried. President Obasanjo said that he thought that he had done something wrong. Dangote said that the plant was a private business, not government business, yet it seemed like President Obasanjo knew more about what was happening at the plant than him who owned the plant.

President Obasanjo replied that the plant was very important to every Nigerian, therefore it was not just a private business, it was a Nigeria business.

President Obasanjo said that thankfully the plant was commissioned just before he left office.

He said that he began taking Dangote out. He took Dangote to Ethiopia and introduced him to President Meles, took him to Senegal and introduced him to President Wade, took him to Botswana and other places.

He said that there was a lot of opposition and the biggest opposition came from a French company called Lafarge.

He said that Dangote built his cement plant in Senegal but just after it was commissioned Lafarge claimed that the land belonged to them. They sued Dangote and the case was in court for 2 years. Dangote won the case, but Lafarge continued to create problems for him until Dangote paid them millions of dollars to make the problem go away.

Obasanjo said that today Dangote is the biggest cement manufacturer in Africa while Lafarge is no longer in Africa.

He said that Dangote embarrassed him a few weeks ago. He invited him to his refinery in Lekki and told all the staff to come out. He told them to thank President Obasanjo for their jobs because it was Obasanjo that pushed him to start manufacturing cement and without the cement factories he wouldn't have had the confidence to establish the refinery and they wouldn't have had their present jobs. All the staff began thanking Obasanjo.

President Obasanjo said that Dangote was his boss (Dangote had earlier said that Obasanjo calls him, "My boss", but it's not true and he is not Obasanjo's boss). He said that, "I made policies, but my policies would have failed if not for Dangote and others like Wale (Wale please stand up) and others that took advantage of them". (He was referring to Wale Tinubu). He therefore said, "Dangote, you are my boss and you will always be my boss".

Not all igbo men...but always an igbo man. cheesy
dominique:
Ex-Liberian VP Jewel Howard-Taylor's 2021 Meeting With Nigerian Socialites Obi Cubana, E-Money, Ned Okonkwo Resurfaces After Drug Trafficking Charges

The Nigerian socialites visited Monrovia in October 2021 as part of a trade mission that explored investment opportunities in Liberia, including real estate, tourism and other sectors.

Former Liberian Vice-President Jewel Howard-Taylor, who has been charged with drug trafficking, money laundering and other offences in connection with an alleged transnational narcotics network, hosted Nigerian businessmen and socialites Obi Cubana, E-Money and Kennedy “Ned” Okonkwo on a trade and investment mission in Monrovia in 2021.

Howard-Taylor was arrested on August 19, 2026, while attempting to leave Liberia through Roberts International Airport and was subsequently charged with offences including the unlicensed importation, sale, distribution and transportation of controlled substances, drug trafficking, criminal solicitation, criminal facilitation, criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

Her arrest and the charges have prompted renewed scrutiny on social media of her past political and business associations, including her 2021 meeting with the Nigerian delegation comprising Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, Emeka Okonkwo, known as E-Money, and real estate entrepreneur Kennedy “Ned” Okonkwo, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nedcomoaks Limited.

The Nigerian socialites visited Monrovia in October 2021 as part of a trade mission that explored investment opportunities in Liberia, including real estate, tourism and other sectors.

Contemporary reports described the delegation as a broader Nigerian trade mission invited by Howard-Taylor to explore investment opportunities in sectors including energy, education, youth development and real estate. Howard-Taylor also convened meetings between members of the delegation and Liberians involved in trade and commerce to discuss possible investment opportunities.

In a May 19, 2023 interview published by Global News Network Liberia (GNN Liberia) and conducted by Michael Adeboboye, then-Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor was specifically questioned about the controversy involving Nigerian businessman Obi Cubana and Sheik Bassirou Kante.

The interviewer referenced a May 10, 2022 report by FrontPageAfrica, which said Cubana had visited Liberia and held discussions with Howard-Taylor about a possible business partnership.

Responding, Howard-Taylor said Cubana’s visit was part of a broader trade mission involving people seeking business opportunities in Liberia’s tourism sector.

“As it relates to Business Tycoon Obi Cubana, he came to Liberia for the first time as mentioned in search of business opportunities in the tourism sector. He was a delegate on a trade mission with many others who had similar ideas,” she said.

“As one of the voices for showcasing Liberia’s many opportunities, I met the delegation and afforded them a chance to see Liberia as a great investment opportunity. I believe any patriotic citizen will take advantage to showcase their nation, try to attract investors and seek good and legitimate partnerships which will help Liberia’s economy expand.”

The account is also consistent with a November 2021 report by Nigerian writer Hope Eghagha, which described an African Children’s Talent Discovery Foundation (ACTDF) delegation to Liberia hosted by Howard-Taylor.

Eghagha specifically named Kennedy Okonkwo, Obi Cubana, Kcee and E-Money among those who attended a corporate lunch with members of Liberia’s business community. According to the account, discussions included proposals to build a five-star hotel and invest in agriculture.

Photographs from the meeting were widely circulated on social media at the time, showing the Nigerian businessmen with Howard-Taylor.

The meeting has now resurfaced on X and Facebook following Howard-Taylor’s arrest, with some users revisiting the delegation’s visit and describing it as a “legitimate trade mission.”

An X user, Roy Biakpara, who shared photographs from the meeting, wrote:

"Obi Cubana, Ned Okonkwo & E Money went to visit this same woman in late 2021 when she was Vice-President. Purportedly on a trade mission, discussing potential investments such as in tourism. She later confirmed hosting that same “delegation” to promote business opportunities.

“1 and 1 could be 2 or 11. The choice is yours.

“Me #ImWalkingAway.”

Another X user, Udeabor Chimezie, wrote: “It keeps getting messier.”

DEMON (@OlaYinkaDem) wrote: “I know their occupation nah that sources of income I want know.”

Nzesam (@MrSam_UJ) said, “What do you all think this (sic) men do for a living? Na them hustle pass or get business idea pass. Lo.”

Howard-Taylor’s Drug Charges

The development comes amid a major crackdown by Liberian authorities on cocaine trafficking.

According to the Liberian government, Howard-Taylor’s charges form part of an investigation into an alleged transnational narcotics network. She was detained after being stopped at Roberts International Airport as she attempted to leave the country.

Authorities have also charged three foreign nationals, two Croatians and a Ukrainian, in absentia over their alleged roles in the network and said they would pursue their arrest through domestic and international channels.

The charges followed Liberia’s seizure of several tonnes of cocaine worth hundreds of millions of dollars, although authorities have said the drug seizure and Howard-Taylor’s case are not connected.

Howard-Taylor served as Liberia’s vice-president under former President George Weah from 2018 to 2024.

She entered politics after her former husband, Charles Taylor, left power. Charles Taylor, a former rebel leader, was elected Liberia’s president in 1997 and remained in office until 2003.

He was later arrested and convicted by a UN-backed court of aiding and abetting rebels in neighbouring Sierra Leone during the country’s 1991–2002 civil war, in which about 50,000 people died.

Howard-Taylor later became George Weah’s running mate and served as his deputy throughout his presidency.

The Liberian government has vowed to pursue everyone allegedly involved in the narcotics network, saying:

"No office is too high, no political connection is too powerful, no nationality provides immunity, and no individual is beyond the reach of the law," it said in a statement.

According to a recent BBC report, West Africa has increasingly emerged as a major transit route for cocaine trafficked from South America to Europe, with criminal networks exploiting porous borders and weaknesses in enforcement across parts of the region.

I put up three arguments above. I see you wanna dwell on just one.

1. Illegally staying in SAa.
2. Working without proper documents for less, hence not paying tax. This giving one an unfair advantage over locals.
3. Some commiting crimes and not being traced because they're undocumented. It's easier to arrest a local because they're on the system.
Every body is always committing crimes in your country except South Africans and the white people..you are saints ,evryother people are devils.. we hv heard.
So the whites living there are they also documented .Never thought one day a black Africsn will call another african illegal immigrant..Countries that were drawn on a map by foreign invaders and renamed are also calling other people illegal.lol..
You will be fine no worry.

Do u know how many S.A are also in other African countries and no one is asking them for papers..I saw one d other day working here in Nigeria.i just shook my head. No one is asking g where is ur papers..u people will be fine.
The hypocrisy is widespread. So I wont argue further.

This is exactly the same thing that will happen to Yorubas that have doing their Xenophobic in their region by asking Igbos to leave because the day Igbos will leave not only Lagos but the rest of Yoruba States they will eventually regret it.
Take for instance how Lagos got deserted during Christmas festival and New Year entire Lagos becomes ghost land then you can imagine when Igbos leave completely.
A word is enough for the wise and I know they will come against me like headless Chicken but I have said my own
You people know how to trigger the yorubas and cry foul..U are very good at it.
Ok so when u went and it was ghost town..did any1 beg u to come back? Roads were free.there was fresh air. So anything stopping Igbos from staying back and doing your bizz there??..
You come to Lagos to make money.Majority of u come with on trouser and 2 shirts..and make money here either illegal or legal. You are not here for counting bridge. You make your money here and go home and build houses.. but never live there..so who or what is chasing u people.lololol.
You think its only igbos that go for New Year u must be a joker..even yoruba go to their home town .not only igbos travel home.
