The number of herders in the forests is therefore increasing as the demand for beef and dairy products is increasing in the cities

Apart from confronting the herders directly, a preemptive action that can be taken against them is to eat into their market share by setting up thousands of cattle ranches across the country as it is done in other nations

There is no way a ranch selling beef and dairy products will not be cheaper to run and more profitable than open grazing done by nomads. The milk yield will be more for instance and the farm will be able to access the market for beef and milk more easily than a nomad that is moving from place to place

No village anywhere in the country should have less than one thousand cattle feeding off the vegetation in the locality. As you feed human beings also feed cattle. Children will go about cutting grass for them. Some villages can have five thousand heads of cattle and one head of cattle can bring an annual inflow of up to two hundred thousand naira per annum from my estimates meaning a village holding one thousand heads will have additional income per annum of around two hundred million naira for it's inhabitants. That this is not happening is another failure of the government
