I think what we lack is a proper central midfielder. The link between the defence and attack is always breaking because of lack of proper central midfielder.

Our passes always goes back to wing or defence because there's no safe place in the midfield.

Yesterday’s game was lost in midfield because we weren’t robust enough. Non of our midfielders was brave enough to receive a pass from our defenders under Bayern’s heavy press and this made our defenders panic. Gusto made an error because of this.

Secondly, we just didn’t have enough legs and lungs to close Bayerns players down which I will allude to tiredness, Bayern being fresher and most importantly, accommodating a pregnant box crasher. Also, James isn’t a midfielder and Maresca should know that he doesn’t have the aggressiveness or positional awareness to play such deep role.

At this point, I don’t mind Enzo getting injured if it means we will use a proper midfielder. We will never achieve consistency if we have a player who does so little. That’s effectively starting the game a man light.

Yesterday’s loss was painful because it opened my eyes that we are never winning any reasonable trophy this season.

If maresca can't send Fernandez to the bench to return Chelsea to winning ways then he should be preparing for sack.
