After Nintendo itself announced first-month US sales for the
Switch of 906,000 units, independent research group
SuperData today put out a report that speaks to the
console's success globally. According to SuperData, the
hybrid system sold 2.4 million units worldwide in its first
month.

This data comes from SuperData's own modeling, not from
Nintendo, so it may not be entirely accurate.
Nintendo had officially said it was expecting to ship 2 million units to retailers worldwide for March , so SuperData's predictions are above expectations. With
that in mind, SuperData said today that it is changing its
forecast for total Switch 2017 sales, from 5 million units to
7.2 million units sold.

The Nintendo Switch was the top-selling console in the US during its launch month of March, according to data from the NPD Group reported on by Game Revolution.
Microsoft and Sony did not share March sales figures for the Xbox One and PS4 respectively, though Game Revolution reported that the PS4 outsold the Xbox One. The PS4 has now apparently topped the Xbox One in US sales for five straight months.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also set new records as it's become Nintendo's fastest-selling launch game of all time, as well as the fastest-selling entry in the Zelda series. Over 1.3m copies of the game were sold across US retail in March with 925k units on Switch and 460k on Wii U.

You didn't read that wrong: there were more copies of
Breath of the Wild sold on Switch than there were Switches
themselves.
