According to a recently released PWC report available on most top British & European Newspapers and Tabloids, The UK economy will be overtaken by Nigeria and Mexico by 2050 as the country currently sitting among the Top Ten economies in the World may be displaced by these emerging economies given the current GDP growth rate of the country.

The UK’s economy’s will lag behind emerging markets, as its GDP growth rate falls from 2.3 per cent in 2014 to around 1.8 per cent in 2050, the report attributes an aging population and slothfulness among the countries workers as reason for the decline in the UK’s productivity.

Nigeria currently the 39th strongest Economy in the World under President Jonathan’s government in terms of GDP, Vietnam and the Philippines have high projected average growth rates of around 4.5-5.5 per cent per year until 2050. Malaysia is also projected to grow at around 4 per cent, which is higher than China’s projected average growth rate of around 3.5 per cent.

By 2050, according to a World Bank, Goldman Sachs study it is believed that if this current growth rate is maintained, Mexico will have become the Eight biggest economy in the world, and Nigeria the 13th by 2050. Turkey, Vietnam, Colombia, Poland and Malaysia are also slated to be the fast-growing large economies in the years taking us up to the middle of the century.

John Hawksworth, PwC’s chief economist, said: “Europe needs to up its game if it’s not to be left behind by this historic shift of global economic power, which is moving us back to the kind of Asian-led world economy last seen before the Industrial Revolution. The US may hold up better, provided it can remain at the global technological frontier, and the UK could also perform well by G7 standards if it remains open to trade, investment, people and ideas.”

However, while it is easy to cite mammoth growth for emerging markets, PwC did state that for these economies to realise their full potential, their respective governments would need to pursue and maintain sensible economic policies.

PREPARES TO JAIL TINUBU FOR FORGING
UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO CERTIFICATE .
Barely 48 hours that the outgoing Nigeria Army
director of public relations, Brig. Gen. Olajide
Olaleye confirmed to the whole world that Buhari
joined Nigeria Army in 1961 without certificate.
Rather, he joined the Army with a recommendation
letter from the then principal of the provincial
secondary school, old northern region. However,
another APC national leader may be jailed for
certificates forgery.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu may go to jail as
Federal High Court has reserved ruling over the
alleged certificate forgery.
The federal high court Ikoyi Lagos has reserved
ruling on the suit filled by Dr Adegbola Dominic
against Inspector general of police and
commissioner of police Lagos state on June 4th,
2013.
Dr Dominic took the duo to court over their
inability to conclude the investigation of certificate
forgery by Bola Tinubu and prosecute him
for forgery as directed by the supreme court.
Bola Tinubu was alleged to have forged the
certificates which he presented to INEC in 1999
when he contested for election as the governor of
Lagos state.
The late Gani Fawehinmi who first challenged the
academic qualifications that Tinubu presented to
INEC in court was told by both the high court and
the appeal courts that Tinubu as then sitting
governor cannot be tried as he enjoys immunity
from prosecution.
The legal luminary then headed to supreme court
and the apex court ruled that though Tinubu
enjoys immunity from prosecution, he can be
investigated by police over the allegation and tried
after his tenure.
However, after Tinubu's tenure as the governor of
Lagos state, the Nigeria police refused to charge
him as ruled by the supreme court.
It was this seeming lack of will by the police to
perform their constituttional duty, to conclude their
investigation and charge Tinubu to court that Dr
Dominic is challenging by asking the federal high
court to compel the IG and commissioner of police
Lagos to bring Tinubu to justice.
Speaking in an interview, Barr. Kayode Kayode
Ajulo an Abuja based lawyer said:
"Certificate forgery is a criminal offense. Tinubu
may be jailed for lying under oath if found guilty.
I wish the media will be vigilant to even cross
check the claims of the schools attended by
Tinubu as submitted to INEC.
This is not a witch hunt but a move to conclude a
case in line with the supreme court ruling."

2015: YORUBA TRADITIONAL RULERS, LEADERS
ENDORSED JONATHAN FOR SECOND TERM.
The Yoruba people in the southwest zone of the
country yesterday endorsed President Goodluck
Jonathan for second term urging him to help the
zone recover its political and social values.
This resolve was reached at the Yoruba Unity
Summit organised by the committee on Yoruba
Progress, Southwest held at the Oduduwa Hall of
Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
The summit which was attended by President
Jonathan, the National chairman of the People
Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Muazu as
well as foremost traditional rulers and leaders of
the Yoruba race unanimously bestowed its
mandates on President Jonathan in the 2015
general election.
Speaking at the event, President Jonathan
appreciated his endorsement noting that the
Yoruba has continue to be at the edge and has
contributed to the building blocks that form the
Nigeria edifice.
President Jonathan who pledged to implement the
recommendations of the concluded National
conference stated that there was no way the
southwest would be left behind.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade who led
other traditional rulers in the southwest noted that
the Yorubas were in the forefront of the country’s
polity until the spirit of greed crept into the tribe
thus causing her political “misfortunes.”
According to the monarch, “How did we come to
this? The Yoruba were in the forefront. We must
remind ourselves that some of these woes are self
inflicted and we have never even believed that we
could always talk to ourselves on these lapses and
how rectification could be achieved in a situation
where our sons and daughters would see
themselves as coming from one big family and
conquer the spirit of greed.”
Oba Sijuwade who said that various projects have
been abandoned by the President Jonathan’s
administration in the southwest beckoned on him
to see to their completion.
He however reiterated the Yoruba’s commitment to
seeing that President Jonathan wins next year’s
election in order to help in re-shaping the geo-
political zone.
