Source:http://net9ra.tk/forum2_theme_113183514.?tema=25 A debt-ridden actor who killed two of his friends and dismembered one of them as part of a plot to steal money to pay for his wedding and honeymoon has been sentenced to death. Daniel Patrick Wozniak, 32, will be put on death for the slaying of Afghanistan war veteran Samuel Herr and Julie Kibuishi in Southern California in 2010. Orange County Superior Court Judge John Conley followed the recommendation of a jury he should be executed following the grisly deaths and his attempted cover-up. Jurors had convicted Wozniak of the murders in December. A month later, a jury told prosecutors he should face capital punishment. “At the cost of two human lives, the defendant chose not to get married inexpensively or to defer his honeymoon,” Conley said. “He wanted to do it in style, and he was willing to kill two people he knew to accomplish this.” Wozniak was debt-ridden in 2010 when he shot a neighbor, Herr of Costa Mesa, to steal $50,000 the Army veteran had saved from service in Afghanistan, prosecutors said. Wozniak then used a ruse to kill Herr’s friend, Julie Kibuishi, and tried to make it appear Herr had raped and killed her, then fled, prosecutors said. He also dumped Herr’s dismembered body in a park. The scheme unraveled, and Wozniak was arrested days later. Conley revisited many of the case’s grisly details before the sentencing. Who remember Rubber-band game
If you grew up in Nigeria, you must have played
the rubber-band game where the rings were
tossed and made to overlap each other in order to
win. Although most children did not know the
right pronunciation, it was referred to as
‘rubberlin’ by most. |
For a while, we have been trying to bring to you
some of your earliest memories of growing up in
Nigeria, we even went on to analyze what it felt
like growing up with Nigerian parents and the
beautiful moments had with them.
Nigeria may be seen as a country where people
strive daily in order to survive; many people still
have records of happy times in the wonderful
country.
Childhood experiences for most people in Nigeria
is fun. Depending on the social status and class of
the parents, children had a remarkable time
during their childhood.
Children might not have had the best toys to play
with but we were able to improvise in our time
and still had fun.
You would understand the following things if your
childhood was spent in Nigeria:
1. Bird hunting with catapult
Not like children were mandated to hunt and
bring home their sports, they simply did so to
have fun. Most boys had catapults which they used
for various things. If you were unlucky, you might
have been shot with a catapult in the past.
2. Rubber-band game
If you grew up in Nigeria, you must have played
the rubber-band game where the rings were
tossed and made to overlap each other in order to
win. Although most children did not know the
right pronunciation, it was referred to as
‘rubberlin’ by most. |

Pep Guardiola believes his rivalry with Jose Mourinho will
help push him on to achieve success at Manchester City.
The two managers were bitter foes when they were in
charge at Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid
respectively.
Now they have started work at the same time in
Manchester, with Guardiola taking over at City and
Mourinho returning to the Premier League as Manchester
United’s new manager.
And while playing down his past history with Mourinho,
Guardiola says taking on the former Real, Chelsea and Inter
Milan boss — as well as a clutch of other high-profile
overseas managers — will bring the best out of him.
Speaking to the media for the first time since leaving
Bayern Munich to replace Manuel Pellegrini as City boss on
a three-year contract, Guardiola said: “He wants to win, I
want to win.
“I can say like a coach they help me — the big coaches —
and Jose is one of them. They help me to reach another
level.
“We know each other pretty well from before, from
Barcelona. I think it is great that big managers are here, top
managers are here.
“My experience against him, against (Jurgen) Klopp at
Dortmund, they made me better. All the managers in the
world want to win.
“Big managers take me as a manager to a different level.
Competing with them takes me to the next level.
“They push me to try and win the league, win the cup,
win the Champions League and then you find out if you
are big enough, capable enough to win with teams like
Bayern, like Barcelona, like Manchester City.”
Guardiola, 45, was twice a Champions League winner as
Barcelona coach and, after winning three league titles in
Spain, also led Bayern Munich to a hat-trick of Bundesliga
successes.
But he believes imposing his style of eye-catching, passing
football on the Premier League and winning honours
domestically and in Europe with City could be his toughest
test yet after the 2013 champions finished fourth in the
league last season under Pellegrini.
‘Prove myself’
Guardiola added, “That is why I am here, to prove, to
prove myself, that I am able to do that. I feel this is the
right moment to come here and prove myself to play the
way I want.
“Every stage is a big challenge. It could be the biggest
because City have not won as many titles as Barcelona or
Bayern, but I can’t answer.
“Maybe when I took over the second team from Barcelona
it was the hardest because I felt in that moment my career
would be finished.
“At Barcelona and Bayern Munich, we have to win every
day and every day. I see how difficult it is in England to
find a team to win four, five, six games in a row. It is not
easy.
“All the people talk about that. Maybe that is the challenge,
to try to be more consistent in our game.
“I think in my career people are always going to demand
of my teams the way they are going to train, to try and
win the maximum as possible. But in the end that is good.
It is better to live under that pressure.”
Guardiola has so far signed three players in midfielders
Ilkay Gundogan and Oleksandr Zinchenko and forward
Nolito and admitted he is keen to strengthen his squad
further.
The City boss has been linked with moves for defenders
John Stones, of Everton, and Juventus and Italy star
Leonardo Bonucci.
But he hopes club captain Vincent Kompany will overcome
the injury problems that have dogged him in recent
seasons to remain a key part of his plans.
“My dream for Vincent Kompany is to be fit,” Guardiola
said. “The captain has a lot of experience and is a
magnificent centre-back, but of course he has to be fit.
“We spoke to him and said ‘just focus on your body and
come back to what you were in the past’. Vincent will
show his qualities.” |
so Good for PEs and also in His career |
Veteran goalkeeper Petr Cech has announced his
retirement from international football after a record 124
games for the Czech Republic over an eventful 14-year
career.
Petr Cech
"I would hate to end up in a situation when I would start
feeling tired midway through a qualifying campaign," the
34-year-old told reporters in Prague on Friday.
"I like to do things at a 100 percent."
"The decision is final."
"I feel there will be a moment when I will need more time to
rest," said the former Chelsea and current Arsenal stopper.
Cech played all three games for the Czech Republic at Euro
2016, where his team lost to Spain and Turkey and drew
with Croatia, bowing out after the group phase with a single
point.
"I'm sorry we failed to fulfil the potential of the team, we
obviously could have done better," said Cech .
His move from Chelsea to Arsenal last year made the
headlines, and so did his season.
He beat Karel Poborsky's record of 118 games for the Czech
Republic and then passed David James as the man with the
most clean sheets in the Premier League, stopping for now
at 178, with James making 169.
Born on May 20, 1982, Cech played for Czech top-flight
sides Blsany and Sparta Prague before moving to Rennes in
France in 2002.
He then joined Chelsea in 2004, after a European
Championship at which the Czechs got to the semi-finals,
beating Germany and the Netherlands en route.
With Chelsea he won four Premier League titles (2005,
2006, 2010, 2015), the Champions League (2012), the Europa
League (2013) and a host of other trophies.
After 11 years with the Blues, Cech made a £10 million
($14.4 million) move across London to join the Gunners as
he only managed seven games in the 2014/2015 season,
shaded by manager Jose Mourinho's first-choice keeper
Thibaut Courtois.

For allegedly beating up their landlady, a mother and son
were on Friday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates'
Court in Lagos.
The accused were: Adelakun Adeshile, 38, a businessman
and Kudirat Adeshile, 64, a trader, both resident at Aguda,
Surulere, in Lagos.
They faced a two-count charge of conspiracy and
attempted murder. The prosecutor, Sgt. Donjor Perezi, told
the court that the offences were committed on June 15, at
their residence. Perezi said that a fight ensued between the
landlady, Mrs Taiwo Adesina, and his tenants, but rather
that settling it with her, the accused chose to fight.
``The accused tried to strangle the woman by tying a
wrapper so hard on her neck,’’ he said. The offences
contravened Sections 228 and 409 of the Criminal Law of
Lagos State, 2011. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty
to the charge. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka,
admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N300,000 each,
with two sureties in like sum.S he adjourned the case to July
27, for mention. |
