Many Nigerians are of course distressed at the exit of the Super Eagles from participating in the 2017 African Cup of Nations. It was heart breaking to say the least as we saw the Pharoah’s of Egypt clinch the only qualification spot followed the withdrawal of Chad from the race who withdrew from the contest citing financial constraints. That withdrawal by Chad, made the group to have just one qualification spot and Egypt carried it after the 0 – 0 draw between Nigeria and Egypt last Tuesday. A lot of analysts like me saw it coming! We knew how difficult it would be to beat Egypt in the backyard following the ‘bus packing’ style the displayed in Kaduna a fortnight ago. True, the Super Eagles with a little bit of more determination should have carried the day if the maintained a better defensive tactics during the last 3 minutes of the first leg; which was when Salla equalised for Egypt. So with Nigeria not going to the next Nations Cup, the question now is who should now be the Nigerian coach? Should Samson Siasia who handled the last two qualifications matches be retained or should the proverbial foreign coach? In my opinion , I suggest that Siasia be retained. Reason being that we seem to have no better option. Nigerians like attacking formation, and Siasia made sure his lads displayed that in the last two matches albeit without success. Siasia is on ground. He watches the Nigerian Premier League each day, he knows the players, he is the current coach of the U-23 team and as such can use them in the Super Eagles, he is respected by the current crop of Super Eagles players etc. So, instead of getting a coach that would do us another Lars Lagerbäck, let our own – Samson Siasia be allowed to continue coaching the Super Eagles. In fact he needs ample time to be able to be able to achieve results. Source: http://happeningnow.com.ng/should-samson-siasia-be-retained-as-super-eagels-coach/ |
Just this morning at about 11:20am three cars clashed along Rumuola/Rumuadaolu Road, Port Harcourt due to one way driving. Our staff who was there saw that a taxi driver, toyota hilux and a lexus jeep were involved. The lexus was using reverse to run 'oneway' when he crashed infront of the hilux and in the process a taxi that was behind the hilux got seriously damaged due to the force on which the hilux was using to drive 'oneway'. The twist to it is that in the process of trying to solve the situation at hand, someone who came to 'help' them allegedly took a phone from one of the victim and immediately the victim realized that his phone was missing, he alerted others and the person who stole the phone started running and was eventually caught! When will our drivers learn? Thank God no lives were lost. Source: http://happeningnow.com.ng/car-clash-along-rumuola-road-port-harcourt-photos/
