Some corps members who were traveling for the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC camp, were involved in a motor accident in Katsina State.

According to Tonia Michael Ndukauba, a corps member posted to Katsina state (now redeployed to Lagos), it was gathered that the bus filled with serving NYSC members was hit by a truck which damaged the vehicle and injured the passengers.

It was reported that no life was lost in the accident as the injured victims were rushed to the hospital.

May God heal these Corp members in Jesus name Amen.. I was rushing to leave yesterday on time with this bus but God now sent a friend of mine, he delayed me for like 30mins, I was all angry at him.. just for me to hear that the bus got hit by a truck.. no life lost but injuries..

A Zimbabwean psychiatric nurse has been sentenced to seven years and eight months for having a sexual affair with a minor in his care, under the pretext that he loved her.

According to BBC, Givemore Gezi (40) began having sexual intercourse with a girl whose identity has not been disclosed, when she was still a minor. The girl is said to have been 15 when the relationship began.

Gezi is said to have told the girl that he was 28 years old was in fact 39 years at the time and married with two children.

The girl lamented that Gezi had lied to her and put a false identity to her and that she was to persuaded to have an abortion when she fell pregnant.

“[He] cut me off, so I was completely isolated and only had him to turn to. I still love him, but I think I love the version of him that he spun for me,” she said.

Their relationship between the two only came to light after Gezi’s wife found evidence in his phone and found the girls number on his phone.

The girl, who was in foster care, tried to kill herself after arriving at school in tears, the court heard.

Judge Timothy Rose told Gezi, from Devon, that he had committed “an exceptional breach of trust”.

“Your actions were calculated, grossly manipulative and deceitful. You lied about your intentions and motivation.”

Gezi was ordered to remain on the sex offenders register for life.

Scientists have revealed that a woman's fingers can tell if she's a cheat or if she's likely to become one.

A new study has shown that women with long index fingers on their left hands are more likely to have affairs. The findings have surprised scientists as having a longer index finger is associated with having more typical female characteristics.

The longer index finger and shorter ring finger have been linked to being exposed to higher levels of female sex hormones in the womb.

It was assumed that women who were "more feminised" would be more likely to be satisfied with their romantic relationships, and to be less impulsive, Daily Mail reports. But the findings of the recent study proved this to be wrong.

Being more exposed to the sex hormone oestrogen in the womb leads to women's index fingers growing longer than their ring finger.

By contrast, being exposed to more of the male sex hormone testosterone in the womb has a more "masculinising" effect and results in a longer ring finger and a shorter index finger.

Men with longer ring fingers than index fingers have been found to be better sportsmen.

Eiluned Pearce of Oxford University carried out the research which has been published in a Royal Society Journal.

She took measurements of the finger lengths of 274 female volunteers and also sampled their DNA. They also completed psychological tests on their relationship quality.

She found that "women with higher (more feminine) left hand digit ratios are more impulsive and rate their romantic relationships less favourably." She added that the finding is "intriguing, because the opposite might be expected".

In the research paper, she speculates that women with the higher index finger to ring finger ration are likely to be "more feminized" and more highly sought after by males. Because they know they have a lot of options, "this might be associated with dissatisfaction with current partners" and this might lead to flings - or as the scientists call it "opportunistic mating" and "impulsive" mating with men who are not their husband or partner.

The researchers also looked at the ratio of index finger to ring finger lengths in males, but did not find any connection with relationship quality.

Government Area of the state, who is currently on bail, was also found in possession of a sheep suspected to have been stolen, Punch Metro reports.

Labaran is facing criminal charges in line with provisions of Section 1(2) (a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision Act, Cap 11, LFN, 2004 and Section 319 of the Penal Code.

According to the police, one Lawal Abdul, who resides behind the Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma, Katsina State, lodged a complaint that an unknown man recently attacked him in his house with a machete and stick.

Abdul reportedly said his attacker, who held a torch during the incident, allegedly inflicted injuries on his head and hands, after which his attacker made away with his two phones valued at N12,000 but left behind the torch as he rushed out.

It was learnt that the police were able to trace the suspect after retrieving the torch left behind by the attacker at the scene of the crime.

Labaran was said to have owned up when confronted with the torch by the police.

A sheep was also allegedly found with Labaran, who was unable to give a convincing explanation on how he came about the animal.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told a Katsina Senior Magistrate Court where Labaran was arraigned for cognizance on Tuesday and that investigation into the case was ongoing.

The presiding magistrate, Hajiya Dikko, adjourned the case till February 11, 2019, for mention.
