MOIart:Yes I have o |
![]() Sometime last week, I was playing with my phone. Then it occured to me to check jamb website and see for myself were this people dem carry me go true-true... To my greatest shock and utmost dismay, they had stupidly and blindly transfered me to 'IGNATIUS AJURU' university of education PHcity, and to make matters worse, they proudly offered me 'GUIDIANCE and COUNSELLING' as a course to study for four good years. Jesus be a fence! There was no amount of insult I didn't dash jamb that day... Imagine, of all courses, Guidiance and Counselling? Haba! |
WHAT IF IT DOES and WHAT IF IT DOSEN'T We all have struggled, we've studied, we've burnt our candles, finished the kerosine in our lamps and 'Nkpanaka', disturbed our neighbours with our 'I better pass my neigbour' generator just for the sake of getting a space in the limelight. . It hasn't been easy for us all, yet we find time to come here and crack jokes to relieve the heaviness in our hearts and the constant fear that triggers our mind when we think of what our chances might be. . Yes, we've made friends. Friends of value, friends that share same dreams, goals and aspiration, friends that gat our backs, always looking out for us. Here, we are like family, what I'm I saying? We are FAMILY cos we've got friends that would last a life time. . I've been a guest for sometime, watching the fun unfold; I've seen the encouragements, the fights, the love affairs, the ones who finally got married on nairaland, some even had grand kids (they know themselves)... Its fun being here, its fun knowing you can pull a tooth from Adah96 and she won't do anything, or break Creekreporter's leg and all he would do is stare, its fun cos I'm smiling as I type... . What if it does happen that at the end of this all, we all meet somehow, somewhere to share our success story and drink away the nights when we'd strain our eyes to catch the last word before dozing or the nights we'd leave our textbooks on our tommy and lie facing upwards or the nights when we plan to wake by 12am only to open our eyes and discover its already 6am... Sounds exciting right? . In life, there are two sides of a coin, its either the head or the tail. Everyone thrives for success, but there are many roads to success. . If my guess is right, none of us have any intention of going to the polytechnic... Yeah that sounds fair enough. . If so, hope you've made your plans A-Z? Just incase plan A fails, plan B stays alive, and if plan B does fail, heck! Plan C is there. My advice, write a polytechnic as well if the forms are still open. Start looking for professional courses you could do online (for those of us with smart phones, tabs, laptops etcetera) and if you're lucky, you could do free professional courses with certification from abroad. In the end, no one will discriminate your course when they see you have other professional certification. . Please, draw up a plan A-Z cos WHAT IF IT DOES and WHAT IF IT DOSEN'T then you wouldn't completely lose out of the battle. (Fingers crossed as we await results come next week) |
EKOSODIN I was telling Obinna that the sand in Ekosodin was enough to build a sky scraper, and then he said 'Go hire tipper come carry am nah, sheybi you get land for lagos abi?' . This was my second visit to Benin, the first time I came was in 2011, I had come to write my first putme which unfortunately didn't work out (smh olodo girl like me). This is my second visit, and this time I came straight from school. . My first visit, Chudy was in 200level then. I had him and my big cousins take me around for sight seeing, my eyes saw things. 'If you know how to look front, start looking front now and pretend you didn't see anything' Chudy said as he pulled me to the extreme left and we headed for home. It was when we reached his lodge that myself came back to me. . Our conversations were mostly in pidgin, I spoke pidgin so well I couldn't believe it was actually me speaking, it was so good that I started using it to converse with my parents when I finally arrived home,it just managed to always slip into my mouth each time I had something to say and then my mum was like '...just one week in benin and you've forgotten how to speak english, then tell me what happens when you finally have to spend four years?' . 'All she need do is apply to study pidgin english and GBAM! She dosen't even have to do the exam sef! Admission straight!' That was Oge. . So since then, I would always rehearse my words over and over to ensure I was 'pidgin free' before making any statement. . So this memories keep coming back as I trudge the street of Ekosodin battling with the sand that has chosen to tag along with me. Only that this time around, I have decided to come with trailers on my next visit! |
