Annibiteye: Aspirants you can now calculate your score, very likely they'll use this method: WAEC grades in the subject combination where A is 6, B2 5, B3 4, C4 3, C5 2 and C6 1. Multiply by 1.67. Divide UME score by 8, add up the total, that's makes your score. Compare it with your departmental cut off when they release it. Keep expecting your score though via emails and text messages. All the best! Source |

As a matter of fact, right now she is selling the noodles to raise money for her sister's school fees. That story she posted for the contest, she sent it to me for proofreading.
So don't jump to conclusions.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that it will not allow institutions to reject candidates arbitrarily or as result of sudden change in admission criteria. This was made known by the Registrar, Professor Is-haq O. Oloyede during the extra ordinary technical committee meeting on 2016 admissions to first choice institutions at Baze University, Abuja. According to him, “JAMB will not accept whatever is done arbitrarily and I hope those that are here will make adjustment. They must be able to explain why somebody with high score was not taken. I have a particular school where the person who scored the highest marks was not taken and the reason was because the university changed its rules. You cannot change the rules when the game is on. You have to wait until 2017 to publish the new rules; you cannot have a particular rule and changed to another.” He further mention that the admission criteria by institutions must be reasonable, explicit and must have been published in the 2016 admission brochure. He equally stated that it is wrong for any institution to admit candidates beyond its carrying capacity and called on institutions that were yet to update their requirements for the 2017 brochure to urgently do so. Latest rumour model to be used UI Admission 2016/2017. The admission screening is divided into 2 sections but all over 100. The procedure is as follows: You will place the candidate's UTME score over (divide by) 400 and multiply it by 50 to obtain half of the derived score. Then stage 2 is to compute the O'level part over 50 also. Choose the best 5 subjects that are relevant to the course chosen (must include English and mathematics) and compute thus: A1=6points, B2, =5points, B3=4points. C4=3points, C5=2points & C6=1point. Multiply whatever score you get is over 30 by 50 to get the second half of the derived score. Add the two derived scores to obtain the percentage score. Let's try out an example: For a child who got 240 in UTME. It is 240/400×50 =30 points. Then his/her O'level results: Eng lang A1(6 points). Maths. B2. (5points). Biology A1. (6 points). Chem. B2. (5points). Physics B3. (4points). The candidate got 6+5+6+5+4=26/30×50=43 points. Therefore, the candidate has a percentage score of 30+43= 73. The minimum score for a child to enter UI is 50%. However, for many courses, there would be ranking and the cut off point may be much higher. You can compute for your candidate now. |
