neither do i refer to to victoria island
when i speak of an island
i speak, of
the compartment,
some would say the gap
or the divide


all we have
is being cleaved
cleaved by their axes
a portion for the elites
elite's what they call themselves
and the wretched remnants-
for Nigerians,

and when i sat down-
down to examine their plight,
understand their right'
cite with sight,
how much of their right,-
is not their right

i came to an understanding-


"that-
the road on which they ride is not his
the bus they drive is not his
neither is it mine
the fuel running that bus is not his
neither is it mine
infact he has nothing atstake
yet
with is thatered clothes,
eyes redenned with alcohol,
lips blackenned by maurijuana,
chest bloated by bodybuilding,
stomach bloated with excess
and clenched fist,
he stands in front of these men-
these men that own the bus
and he declares with order-
OWO MI DA,

I stand to make a call
a call to stand tall
to face these men with clenched fists
and fixed stare
to be resolute in our acts
absolute in our hearts
and conclusive in our struggles
for these sufferings must stop
these intimidations,
oppressions,
that exist in our polity
must abscond our city.

for ours is a land,-
flowing with milk and honey
but today we look up,-
and find no gain
yet see, a land of pain

if we must fight this scourge
let's avail ourselves of fear
the fear of death,-
death from this battle
for, surely i tell you
NIGERIANS ARE ALREADY SUFFERING,
AND DYING
