You want to marry wife material, I pray you will, whatever a man sow, surely he shall reap.
You need to accept Jesus into your life first before marriage, if you want to marry correctly, or else, the devil will deal mercilessly with you.

Christianity EtcCheck Out How You Can Defeat Sin by Idenoch(op): 7:19am On Sep 12, 2017
The Difference between the Old Man and the Flesh

The land of Canaan, in the book of Joshua, is not a picture of heaven (as some believers sing in their hymns) because there are no giants to be killed in heaven! Canaan is actually a description of the Spirit-filled life of victory, where the giants of sin - the lusts in our flesh - are crucified. All the giants were not killed in a moment. They were killed one by one.

"The Bible is an exciting book. It's so perfect and exact in its Old Testament typology of new covenant life."
The people of Israel had to go across two bits of water on their journey to Canaan. One was the Red Sea and the other was the River Jordan. Both these speak of death. We see in 1 Corinthians 10 that going into the Red Sea is a picture of water-baptism. The River Jordan is a picture of another kind of death. This was where John the Baptist baptised Jesus 1500 years later.

The Bible teaches that our old self was crucified by God on the cross (Rom.6:6). We cannot crucify our old man. The old man (the mind that wants to sin) was crucified with Christ on the cross. It was God who did that. But there is something else that we have to crucify - our flesh (the storehouse of desires). Galatians 5:24 says, "Those who are Christ's have crucified their flesh with its lusts and its affections."

The flesh is different from the old man. The flesh with its lusts is like a gang of robbers that tries to come into our heart to pollute us. The old man is like an unfaithful servant who lives inside our heart and opens the door every time these robbers come to steal. Which of the two does God kill? He kills the servant. The gang of robbers is still hale and hearty. This is why we are all tempted in exactly the same way after we are converted as we were, before we were converted. That proves that the robbers are still alive. They still want to enter our heart - even after we are converted. But something else has died within us - the servant who opened the door for these thieves (the old man). God killed him and put a new servant within us when we were born again - a servant who does not want to open the door for the thieves. When temptation comes now to us, the new servant says, "No." Then how do believers fall into sin? Because they don't feed the new servant well! Then he is not strong enough to keep the door shut against the robbers. And the robbers push their way in. That's how a believer sins.

But there is a vast difference between a believer sinning and an unbeliever sinning - because the believer doesn't want to sin and the unbeliever wants to sin. In fact that's the test of whether you are really born again or not. The proof of being born again is not whether you sin or not, but whether you want to sin. If you still want to sin, I would say you are not converted. When people come asking for water-baptism, I ask them one question, "Do you want to sin any more - even once?" I don't ask them, "Will you sin?", because nobody can say they will not sin. It is the 'want to' that is the old man.

These are the two deaths the New Testament speaks of. Both of these are pictured beautifully in the history of Israel. The army of Pharaoh was buried in one moment under the Red Sea. That's a picture of the old man. Who did that? God. The old man was crucified on the cross by God. Then the Israelites crossed Jordan, which speaks of another death. We accept our co-crucifixion with Christ to our lusts. Those who are Christ's take this attitude towards their lusts. The lusts are still there and the giants are still ruling the land. But Joshua and the Israelites had determined to kill them one by one. It is we who have to kill our lusts - one by one - as we are tempted. We must put to death the deeds of the body ourselves - by the power the Spirit gives us (Rom.8:13). This is very different from the Egyptian army being buried in a moment by God.

Scripture is so exact when it comes to its application in the New Testament. If we open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, He will reveal these hidden things to us. The Bible is an exciting book. It's so perfect and exact in its Old Testament typology of new covenant life. Those godly men in the Old Testament did not understand all this then, but we can understand what these events typified today. The land of Canaan symbolizes our body that has been ruled by the giants of many lusts for many years. But we have taken an attitude towards those giants that says, "I am going to consider myself dead to sin." Jesus said we have to take up the cross every day. That's not killing the old man. The old man has already been crucified. To take up the cross is to put our self-will (which is what the Bible calls our "flesh"wink to death daily, in the power of the Spirit.

If you take a relaxed attitude towards sin in your life, you can put on the old man once again (Eph.4:22). A person who "continues to live according to the flesh" will die spiritually - even if he was alive once (Rom. 8:13, which is written to believers, is crystal clear on this).
Christianity EtcOvercoming The Spirit Of Lying by Idenoch(op): 11:24pm On Sep 11, 2017
Jesus said in John 8:44, "The devil was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him."   Here is one characteristic of Satan: there is no truth in him at all and he does not stand in the truth. Then Jesus went on to say, "Whenever Satan speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies." We see that God is love and Satan is hatred; In the same way, we see that Jesus said, 'I am the truth' and the devil is a liar. The devil does not stand in the truth and there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature. That is, his nature is to tell a lie, for he is a liar and the father of lies. All lies originate with Satan as the father. If you tell a lie, that lie is a child born through Satan being the father and you being the mother. You have given your heart and your tongue to Satan, at that time, to produce a child called a lie. God never fathers lies. That is why it is so important to learn, once we become Christians (believers), to always speak the truth.

"Telling the truth is a quality, a virtue. We have to battle whole-heartedly, if we want to acquire it."
Jesus said, concerning this matter, "Let your statement be, 'Yes, Yes' or 'No, No'; anything beyond these is of evil" (Matt. 5:37) He also said, "You should not swear. Don't make an oath at all" (Matt. 5:34). You don't need to make an oath because, when a man is making an oath, he puts his hand on the Bible or swears by God or heaven or something like that. What is he really saying? 'Well most of the time I tell lies, but right now, I am speaking the truth because I am swearing.' But Jesus said, "You shouldn't be like that. You should just speak the truth the whole time, that, you don't need to swear at all." No statement made under oath should be more truthful than a statement made without oath. It should be the same. Anything beyond this is of evil.

What is the first thing God requires from us when we come to Him? It is not perfection, it is not purity, it is not goodness, it is not love, and it is none of these things. There is only one thing God requires from us when we come to Him, and that is honesty.

Paradise is not made for perfect people. It is made for honest people. It is made for people who are willing to speak the truth. The first sin mentioned in the Bible is lying. We get to read, in Genesis 3, about the first sin mentioned in the Bible, and that is not the sin Eve committed when she ate of the tree that God had forbidden. There is a sin mentioned in Genesis 3 even before that, not committed by man but by Satan. When Satan came to Eve and asked her, 'Has God said, 'You shouldn't eat of any of these trees?' And the woman said, 'Well, God has said, 'If you eat from this tree, which is in the middle of the garden, you will die." The serpent said in Genesis 3:4, 'You surely shall not die.' That was a lie. That is the first lie and the first sin mentioned in the scriptures; you shall not die, you can disobey God but you will not be punished for it, you will not go to hell. Sin does not have a punishment. That was the lie with which Satan deceived Eve, and ever since, he has deceived the entire human race for thousands of years, even until today. There are preachers who comfort sinners in their sins. There are preachers who comfort believers in their sin, saying, 'You have accepted the Lord. You will go to heaven, no matter how much you sin.'

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 8:11, "Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of men are fully given to do evil." It is because God does not punish immediately, people keep on living in sin. Therefore the devil says, 'You're not going to be punished. Look at all these other people around you. Look at these sins they commit. Look at the believers who do so many wrong things and they get away with it.' They haven't got away with it. God's punishment, His judgment has not yet come. That is all. So there is a lie with which Satan is fooling people all over: you can sin and you will not suffer. The Bible says that, "If you live according to the flesh, you will surely die" (Rom. 8:13). But Satan says, 'No, you will not die. God is merciful. God is gracious. You have asked Jesus to come into your life. So, even if you live according  to the flesh, you will not die.' That is a deception. If you live according to the flesh you will die. There is no doubt about it at all. If Satan is a liar, he seeks to transmit that nature to his children. And it is very easy for a believer to be infected with that too. Whenever you tell a lie, you are offering yourself to Satan to father one more child.

The last sin mentioned in the Bible is in Revelation 22:15. There it says about those who will be outside the city of God in the final day: "Everyone who loves and practices a lie will be outside the kingdom." Have you ever noticed this before, that, the first sin and the last sin mentioned in the Bible is telling a lie? Lying is a very serious thing. Lying to God, lying to people and every lie is fathered by Satan. Peter said to Ananias, "Why have you lied to the Holy Spirit?" That is why he was killed. The first sin judged in the early church was lying. It is extremely serious. And that is why, as parents, one of the most important things we must teach our children is to stop telling lies. Our children are born with our nature. They tell lies from birth. Unless we show them how serious it is, unless they can see it in our lives they won't learn. They need to see, as parents, we take speaking the truth very seriously, that, if we say something we will do it. If we promised to do something for our children, we need to keep our word or explain to them if some other circumstances came up that prevented us from doing it.

Telling the truth is a quality, a virtue. We have to battle whole-heartedly, if we want to acquire it. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth. If you want to be truthful, you have to ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and to mortify this lying habit in all your speech. If we do that, we will find that God gives us discernment on the lies which Satan seeks to deceive us with.

Christianity EtcBeautiful Snake by Idenoch(op): 8:56pm On Aug 30, 2017
THE BEAUTIFUL SNAKE
On my way home from school very early one morning -at about 5:30am- I ran into a snake along the small bushy part I ply home. It was the most beautiful snake I had ever seen. Its dominant colors were green and yellow –some parts darker than others. There were also some lemon-like patches on it. The mix of bright and flashy colors deceived my eyes such that I thought I saw some blue patches as well. Though I was at a safe distance away from it, but like Moses in the bible, curiosity made me draw nearer to see the great sight properly –how a snake can be that beautiful.
As I drew closer, all common sense dissolved and the beauty made me forget the personality. The closer I moved, the nearer it drew towards me. “It must be harmless” I thought. When I was finally in front of it, I bent down and put my hand on it –around the middle section. It moved to my touch and slowly started curling round my hand. I placed the second hand on its head and pet it as I would have a dog.
Just then, while I was now too comfortable, it struck the hand I was petting it with –sharply reminding me of its personality. I tried shaking it off but it was firmly wrapped around one hand and had its teeth buried in the other, gently releasing its venom. Gradually, my body began to go numb and my struggles started to cease. Just as I was about becoming unconscious, help came in form of a watchman bearing a lamp and a cutlass. He detached the snake from me, hacked it to death with his cutlass. He also sucked out the venom from my hand and took me to his house for further care.
Maybe you are commenting on how foolish I was to play with a snake or how lucky I was to have been saved. Whichever the case may be, the story is not just about me. It’s about you, it’s about us all. Many believers are just like me. With the way sin is packaged and presented these days, many of us are easily deceived. We often allow the packaging to make us forget the package is still sin. We often get so deep in it until the rewards start to draw us back to our senses. At times, we even try to fight it afterwards but usually to no avail. Nevertheless, there is hope. The watchman (Jesus Christ) is still there to save you. He knows what you are going through and He will not leave you, but He needs your permission before He can save you. Will you permit Him? Or will you rather lie on the ground hopelessly until all is lost?

Christianity EtcFollowing Jesus’ Example In The New Year by Idenoch(op): 2:58am On Dec 31, 2016
Jesus’ life was the most beautiful, the most orderly, the most peaceful and the happiest life that this world has ever seen. This was because of His total obedience to God’s Word. Wherever there is perfect obedience to God, there is perfection and beauty – as we see in the planets and the stars. “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life” (Prov. 14:27) – and Jesus obeyed the command to “live in the fear of the Lord all the day long” (Prov. 23:17).
When Jesus walked on earth, people saw the life of heaven in Him. His compassion, His consideration for others, His purity, His selfless love and His humility were all expressions of the very life of God. The Holy Spirit has now come to bring this life of God and the atmosphere of heaven into our hearts. We have been placed by God on earth to manifest this heavenly life to the world.

We read in Ephesians 2:10 that God has a specific plan for each of our lives. He has planned where we should live and what we should do each day. In every case, His choice must be the best, for He knows us so well and He has taken every factor into consideration. It is wisest therefore for us to submit to His will in all matters – major as well as minor.

Be a Listener

If we are to do God’s will each day, we must develop the habit of listening to God every day. As Jesus said about Mary (in Luke 10:42), the one thing we need more than anything else is to listen to His Word. In the very first chapter of the Bible, we read that God spoke His Word every day – and as a result the earth was transformed little by little every day. If we want to be transformed into the likeness of Christ this year, the most important thing we need is to hear and obey God every day.

True spirituality comes through denying our own will and obeying the will of God consistently day after day. It was such a consistent obedience to the Father’s will each day that enabled Jesus to be well-pleasing to His Father. We too can be well-pleasing to God if we choose that way each day of this new year.

Two things are mentioned about how Jesus lived during the first thirty years of His life: “He was tempted in all points as we are and yet did not sin” (Heb.4:15) and “He never pleased Himself” (Rom 15:3). Jesus faithfully resisted temptation at every point and He never sought His own pleasure in any matter. To follow Jesus in the new year is to follow Him in these two areas primarily.

The part of our body that we use the most every day is our tongue. Jesus used His tongue to encourage others, thus making it an instrument of life in God’s hands. He spoke soothing words to the weary that lifted their heavy spirits. And Isaiah 50:4 tells us that it was because Jesus listened to His Father’s voice daily that He had this right word for each weary soul who came across His path. We too can have such a blessed ministry to weary souls around us every day of this new year, if we develop the habit of listening to God every day. If we reject all speaking of worthless words and choose to speak only precious words in our daily conversation, God will give us His words and make us His mouth – as He made Jeremiah (See Jeremiah 15:19).

Be a Worshipper

Jesus said, “You shall worship the Lord your God and you shall serve Him” (Matt.4:10). Notice there that worship precedes service. Jesus also said that “the Father seeks for such worshippers” (John 4:23).

Worshipping God is not a matter of singing songs to Him on Sunday mornings, but rather desiring Him alone and nothing else on earth every day (Psa.73:25). Tell the Lord from your heart that you are not interested in anything material or earthly in this new year but only that you might be filled with His Holy Spirit to live for Him alone every day. If you sincerely mean that, the Lord will meet with you and the coming new year will be the best year you have ever had. God will draw close to you, transform you a little more into the likeness of Christ and bless others through you.

Jesus was the happiest man who ever walked on this earth. His happiness came out of doing the will of His Father – and not by having an easy way through life. He knew His Father as perfect love and so He joyfully submitted to all that the Father sent His way. That was the secret of His life. To have faith is to believe in a God who is perfect in love and whose commandments are all for our good.

In Psalm 16:8, it is written “I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will never be moved”. That was how Jesus lived (Acts 2:25). He was never shaken because He lived in His Father’s presence always. And so, He was always full of joy as well (Psa.16:11). That is how God wants us to live too.

Jesus was not interested in finding out the minimum that the Father required from Him, but rather the maximum that He could offer to His Father. Our attitude should also be: “What is the maximum that the Lord can get out of my one earthly life in this coming year?”

So be a listener to God and a worshipper of God this year.
And then you will have a blessed new year indeed!! Amen.
