Why You Should Marry From Mbaise Community

Contrary to the negative view many people have about these great people called ‘Mbaise’ people; including those who haven’t encountered an ill-mannered Mbaise indigene, I am here to inspire you and to also bring to your knowledge, the amazing things you never knew before now about Mbaise people.

Mabise indigenes have over the years suffered what maybe called- societal stigmatization, even when they are good to people around them, which further shows that the world in general is a silly place that pass its judgment on fallacy of hasty generalization and stereotype.

You can imagine someone from Ghana, who haven’t even been to Nigeria before, never came across a Nigerian, passing negative judgment on a people he or she knows nothing about just because he or she once heard people say bad things about Nigerian people.

You can imagine when an American citizen who haven’t crossed the borders of America, haven’t met an African person before to talk of a Nigerian citizen telling you boldly that he or she hates Nigerians because he strongly believes that all Nigerians are fraudsters, internet scammers, liars, killers, and what have you, just because he or she heard some news of some unscrupulous Nigerian citizens defrauding innocent and sometimes greedy foreigners who want to get rich quick without working for it.

I once had a Swiss friend, whom I met via Yahoo Messenger around the year 2001, and when he asked me where I come from, I told him I come from Nigeria, he didn’t know Nigeria, so he asked me where is Nigeria? I gladly explained to him that Nigeria is in Africa, precisely, West Africa, and guess what? He was so shocked he asked me how I got access to the internet, I found it funny and asked him what he meant, and he replied:

“Africa is a big forest where only monkeys and wild animals live”….I couldn’t hold the laughter. Now, can you imagine what a Swiss guy thinks about all Africans? To him, all Africans are monkeys living on the tree, lolz…but he was unaware that most Africans are enlightened more than him. He also forgot that many Africans are richer than the richest man in his small city, but he passed judgment on all Africans based on few wildlife documentaries he watched. Can you see how funny humans can be?

The same way, many people in the world today believe all Mexicans are drug dealers, or let me put it this way: many people in the world today believe that all wealthy Mexicans are into drug peddling, what a funny world we living in.

This is the plight of the Mbaise people.

To start with, what is ‘Mbaise’?

Mbaise is a town located in Imo State. Mbaise town have boundaries with Owerri, Obowu/Umuahia, Mbano and Aba.

Mbaise comprises of 3 local government areas, namely- Ahiazu-mbaise, Abor-mbaise and Ezinihite-mbaise.

Mbaise people are very ambitious people, they are also creative; in fact, they are one of the most creative people in the whole of Igbo land.

Mbaise people are also one of the most successful people in Igbo land, that’s after- Nnewi in Anambra State, Ogidi, and Abriba people.

I am not going to waste much of your time with epistles, but I am going to be as precise and objective as possible so as to make this write-up short and informative enough. Meanwhile, you are free to ask questions via the comment box.

Why do people from other regions in Nigeria see Mbaise people as bad people?
This started in the 80s/90s after Oriental brothers music band split due to members’ disagreement on issues. Remember, the owner and founder of the ‘Oriental Brothers’ band was an Mbaise man, popularly known as- ‘Dee Warrior’ or simply- ‘Warrior’. To cut the long story short, Warrior had issue with one of his lead backup; Dan Sachi, who left the band to start his own, and later released a song, in which he used the opportunity to bash Mbaise people saying-

“if you see snake and see an Mbaise indigene, that you should kill mbaise person first before you kill the snake”

Remember, music travels faster than human, so the song spread so wide and gained popularity, such that people started watching every move an Mbaise indigene made while ignoring worst moves or attitudes of people from other communities or towns. This was the origin.

Of course every community, region, tribe, country or race have their foes, and they also have bad examples, but unfortunately, many people today ignore the wrong people from other communities or town do to them and focus more on the wrong an Mbaise indigene does to them just because they have made up their minds that all Mbaise indigene are evil and should be observed closely with all caution.

Some ladies will tell you how an Mbaise guy broke their heart, some guys will also tell you how an Mbaise lady almost killed him, dumped him and did this and that to him, but ask the same person if he or she haven’t ever experienced similar thing from someone who isn’t from Mbaise, or if he or she haven’t heard or seen a non-mbaise indigene do worse?

I can boldly tell you that: there is no evil committed by an Mbaise indigene that hasn’t been committed by people from other communities, towns, tribes and even race!

Some say Mbaise people show sense a lot, and yeah, that’s called- smartness! You can hardly outsmart them in business, and reason they are always successful in whatever they do.

Some interesting things you didn’t know about Mbaise:
-Mbaise was the last capital of Biafra during Nigerian civil war
- The governor of Central Bank of Biafra during the Nigerian civil war was from Mbaise
- Biafra had a crude oil reserve at Mbaise during the civil war, and it is believed that Mbaise have crude oil that is yet to be explored
- Nigerian civil war ended around Mbaise
- Mbaise has more professors than most Nigerian states combined, and majority of the professors in Imo State comes from Mbaise (they are scattered all over the world because they love studying and travelling)
- Mbaise is the only town in Nigeria that is as popular as a State

Some great people from Mbaise
Note: I am compiling this list from my head, based on the people I know, so many people will definitely be omitted, but I will try and be updating it with time as I get tip offs from readers and fans.
-Chief S. U Ugo: Governor, Central Bank of Biafra
- Senator Chris Anyanwy: Senator, representing Owerri zone Imo State
- Prof. Iwuji: Former Education minister
- ACP Julius Nwagwu rtd. : Assistant Comptroller General of Nigerian Customs Nationwide (Export)

- Actor Genevieve Nnaji: A list Nollywood/Hollywood Actor
- Actor Rita Domnic: A list Nollywood Actor
- Actor Stephanie Okereke: A list Nollywood Actor (her hometown used to be under Mbaise before a political split)
- Actor/Evangelist Eucharia Anunobi: Veteran Nollywood actor and now Evangelist
- Actor/Comedian Okey Bakasi: Veteran Nollywood Actor cum Comedian
- Late Prof. Onwuliri: Former V.C Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO)

- Justice Mary Okaego Odili: First Lady and wife of Former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili
And many more that I can’t just remember right now but will keep updating with time….

Notable things about Mbaise and its indigenes
Mbaise people have always been very active in Nigerian politics. The sons and daughters have rendered services as Federal Ministers, State Commissioners, a Governor, Governorship candidates, a Federal Vice-Presidential candidate, and even a Presidential candidate. In 1946, long before Independence of Nigeria, Mr. Jamike Iwunna, who was credited for suggesting the name “Mbaise”, led an entourage of the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe to Mbaise before the 1947 London Constitutional Conference. Mbaise has produced four Federal Government Ministers in the persons of Dr. Sylvester Ugoh (PhD Harvard Economic), Chief I.D Nwoga (Oxford), Professor Fabian. N. C. Osuji (PhD Ibadan), and Mrs. Chinwe Obaji. Several sons and daughters have served as honorable commissioners in Imo State governments. Dr. Sylvester Ugoh was selected as Vice-Presidential Candidate while Prof F. N. C. Osuji and Dr. Alex Obi vied as the governorship candidates of Imo State, and currently Dr. (Mrs.) Ada Okwuonu is the Deputy Governor. Chief Chinedu Ezebuiro vied for the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the defunct Social Democratic Party. Air Commodore Luke Ochulor (Rtd.) was the first Military Governor of Delta State. Chris Anyanwu is the first female senator in Imo State. Late Gaius Anoka, who initiated the annual Pan-Igbo Ahiajoku Lecture series, was the Nigerian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone.

Mbaise people place a high premium on education. The earliest missionary and educational activities commenced in Mbaise about 1915. Today, there are several Catholic Priests and Clergymen of the Anglican Communion serving worldwide.
In 1934, an Irish nun established a convent in Ogbor Nguru that served Orlu, Ikeduru, Okigwe and Obowo. Mbaise daughters received early education at the Regina Caeli College, Ogbor Nguru and attracted suitors from all over the former Eastern Region of Nigeria and beyond. Despite the fact that western education arrived late relative to other parts of the country, Mbaise can boast of countless professors, PhDs, and different specialty graduates. These professionals are contributing to human development and progress all over the world. Some have served exceptionally well as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing council of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, the Madonna University, Okija, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the (Old) Imo State University, as Librarian FUTO, and as Registrar of the University of Nigeria Nsukka.

Mbaise indigenes have contributed in numerous areas of economic, educational, and social development of their country. Dr. Sylvester Ugoh was the first and only Governor of the Central Bank of the defunct Bank of Biafra. Dr. (Mrs.) Agatha Ndugbu (PhD, OON) a lawyer, statistician, and economist served as Imo State Head of Service. Famous legal luminaries Sir Mike Ahamba, Sir Bon Nwakamma, and Lucius Nwosu are among the first Senior Advocates of Nigeria in Imo State. Several others are serving as High Court Judges in Nigeria. The first lawyer from Mbaise Chief B. S. Nzenwa was called to the bar in 1959. From the military to the police forces, you will find at the top echelon, men and women from Mbaise in command positions.

During the 1967-1970 Nigeria - Biafra civil war, Mbaise played very strategic roles. A unit of the “Research and Production” (RAP) that improvised and manufactured various scarce commodities during the blockade was positioned in Mbaise. The Head of State of the breakaway Biafra, General Odumegwu Ojukwu launched the Ahiara Declaration, a blueprint for the political and economic development of the beleaguered Biafra at Ahiara. When Mbaise, where most Igbo people had taken refuge, was overrun by the Federal Armed Forces, the civil war came to an abrupt end.

Why you should consider marrying from Mbaise
If you love success, unity and greatness, then consider marrying from mbaise- male or female.
If you want an ambitious woman will not just come to squander your little resources, but one who would gladly and diligently work with you to accumulate wealth, then look no further than Mbaise ladies.

If you want to marry a woman who wouldn’t want to hear the word- divorce, or who hates divorce and ready to stay in the marriage to make it work, then look no further than Mbaise ladies.

If you are looking for a woman you will impress and intimidate with money or wealth, please don’t go near an Mbaise lady because they aren’t always moved by money and material wealth even though all humans love money and good life; majority of Mbaise ladies aren’t money freak, and they believe they can make enough money for themselves.

As for the ladies looking for a deserving husband, pray you come across an Mbaise guy because they are one of the best lovers if you yourself is lovable and worthy.

If you love wealth, and desire to build a home you will remember in future and say- God I thank you, then start now to look for Mbaise guys because they are awesome, ambitious, in fact, they attract wealth and success…and reason Mbaise people are the most successful people in Imo State…with amazing buildings and indigenes sprang in all works of life- sports, entertainment, music, movie, oil and gas, education, civil service, military, Police, ICT, trade, craft, fashion, hospitality, medicine, agriculture, politics, business, just name it- Mbaise people occupy top positions in these sectors.

God bless Mbaise indigenes wherever they are….God bless Nigeria.

You can cry if you like, the facts are there for all to see; including the refuse dumps and the block work roundabouts. Ideally I would ignore you but... make your market sell today.
dont mind them, they like fighting shadows. u are talking of round-about wat abt the roads in the owerri that are in mess? what about the abandoned street gates? i really weep for my state. below is what rochas has turned owerri to--MCXXLL posted this pix last month. some people will soon realise the mistake they made for voting rochas. owerri in the time of ohakim was better than this, now a shadow of itself--bad roads and dirts all over the place. some of them even called us worse than the snakes. that we are not going to rule imo state even in the next 100yrs. the hate of these people against mbaise is too much. are we not of the same state? dont we have the same right as any other person to rule this state? i am sure ihedioha will reclaim his mandate through the court. its a sure banker.

Emeka Ihedioha Has Imo in His Grasp

If I was in the shoes of the present Governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha, I should be preparing my hand over notes for the next governor of the state. I am talking of the giant strides of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, the Peoples Democratic Party, gubernatorial candidate in the April 11, 2015 governorship elections. Emeka has had a powerful campaign so far and he has managed to gather all the strong leaders of the party in the state under one umbrella, just as the party supporters are poised for his coronation on May 29, 2015.

Those who know Imo political terrain very well will surely agree that time is up for the incumbent, Rochas Okorocha. Emeka has assembled the major stakeholders of the PDP in Imo state under one umberella and they have fully endorsed the candidature of the prominent House of Representatives Deputy Speaker who is set to cross the fence from the legislature to the executive branch at the state level.

There are for instance, Chief Arthur Nzeribe, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, former State Governor Achike Udenwa, Dr. Eddie Mbadiwe, Senator Hope Uzodimma and various others who are all rooting for Ihedioha’s quest to become the next governor of Imo state.
A new era has dawned in the state even before the first votes are cast for the 2015 general elections. It is a state that has had the problem of getting good leaders that can take them to the next level, but has always fell short of the requirement for progressive governance. On paper, the incumbent has done well but there is certainly a disconnect between the leader and the followers. Imo is one state I have travelled widely over the past two years, not only because during the presidential campaign in which I was on the trail with the National Chairman of the party and the Presidency and its apparatchik, I have made several trips to Imo in the course of social networking visits.

Governor Okorocha had won the governorship in 2011 via the All Progressive Grand Alliance, a party that late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo originated, using Chief Chekwas Okorie for the legwork, but later hijacked by others that included Chairman Victor Umeh who was ripping where he did not sow before late General Odumegwu Ojukwu popularized it into a political force in the South East. After getting power through the party, Okorocha insensitively factionalized it, taking his wing of the party to the All Progressive Congress to the consternation of the Igbo nation.

Now the knives are out for him to pay for his costly mistake. No one is interested now in the infrastructural feat he wrought on Imo state and the wily deputy speaker moved in fast to sow the seed that he is now reaping a huge harvest, including the keys to Government House, Owerri. Even if Rochas does a summersault by leaving APC, a party that cannot win anything east of the Niger for any other party, it is too late. Emeka has permeated the length and breadth of Imo state, unleashing a charm offensive that is hard to change even with APC’s din of Change mantra sweeping everywhere but getting nowhere.

Chief Ihedioha has even managed to reconcile the irreconcilables in the state, to the point that the man he defeated in the contentious primaries is now rooting for him. The first to endorse his aspiration is the indefatigable Chief Arthur Nzeribe, the iroko of Imo politics who may have retired from active politics, but certainly not tired of making his position well known in the state and the wider nation. Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, another Imo political juggernaut has joined the train of Ihedioha-mania sweeping the state. Former Governor Achike Udenwa is also on the Emeka Ihedioha train while the National Woman Leader of the PDP, Chief Mrs. Kema Chikwe, who is a distinguished Imo daughter and a former ambassador to Ireland is a permanent fixture on the Emeka Ihedioha campaign trail.

It is widely expected that with Ihedioha on the saddle of leadership at the highest level in Imo governance, a long existing void will be filled. It will be a true government of the people, by the people and for the people. That is when the people of Imo will enjoy true and real democratic dividend that has long been sought after by the people.

I travelled wide around Imo and saw the ingenious use of bill boards to spread his campaign messages which reflect every inch of the way on the PDP manifesto. At last, Imo state is about to have the kind of governor it deserves, not the doggy characters that have been a pain these past years of democratic governance. Not those milking the state and building havens in Dubai and Johannesburg when they realized that London was too risky to launder money into as British intelligence certainly won’t turn a blind eye.

The Governor-in-waiting, Chief Emeka Ihedioha is not taking chances either. Despite the large crowds that come to listen to his plan for the state at each campaign stop, he continues to step up the gear. A typical day for the candidate begins in Abuja in his Asokoro home. He attends plenary at the House of Representatives and presides if Speaker Aminu Tambuwal who is also running for the Sokoto Governorship is unavailable. From the House he heads to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport enroute to Owerri’s Sam Mbakwe airport where his campaign train is waiting to pick him up for a rally somewhere in the state.

When he is sitting the next day in the House, it means he must return to Abuja after the rallies to prepare for the next day’s work at the National Assembly. It is usually a hectic day, but when he is not returning to Abuja, he ends up in the Campaign Headquarters for meetings with coordinators, special assistants and other political hands for strategy sessions until after hours before going home in Owerri or in the village whichever is suitable for the next day’s programme.

Young and hardworking, the Ihedioha phenomenon has become a force in Imo politics. After graduating from University of Lagos, Emeka joined politics at a much younger age, learning the ropes from his membership of the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM where the likes of Chuba Okadigbo, Atiku Abubakar etc were his mentors. Of course, the PDM metamorphosed into the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 1998. By 1999 when the party won the Presidential Elections with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as President, Ihedioha became the Special Adviser, Media, to Senate President Chuba Okadigbo. By 2003, he won a seat in the House of Representatives and chaired many House Committees until 2011 when he became the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He has so far conducted a very issue-based campaign on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and is now very confident of clinching the governorship seat in Imo state. He has made some specific campaign promises which are all realizable over the next four years on winning the election. His supporters are working hard and taking no chances until victory is won. Looking forward over the next four years, it is likely that Imo will wear a new face with the Rt. Honourable at the helm of leadership of the state. There is no doubt that if he gets the mandate of the people, he will give a good account of his stewardship to the good people of Imo state.

Ihedioha on the move:

Supreme Igbo Security Council (SISC), the watchdog of Igbo nation worldwide has declared that no alliance or intimidation can stop the emergence of Emeka Ihedioha, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives as the governor of Imo State on Saturday, April 11.

The security council, which made the solemn declaration after its crucial meeting in Owerri, the state capital, posited that Igbo and Imo people in particular, would fare much better with Emeka piloting the affairs of the state.

The council, which spoke through its president, Chief Bobby Tochukwu Ukadike observed with dismay, that the people of Imo State had since the past four years, gone through hellish and inhuman conditions as well as untold hardship.

Addressing newsmen at the end of the crucial meeting, which focused on socio-political realities in Imo and other south eastern states, the council disclosed that it had set in motion a machinery to thwart and foil attempts by any person or group to deceive Imo people for the second time as was the case in 2011.

According to the president: “If after a long period of four years Imo people are hungrier than they were before the inception of the present administration in the state and with greater number of jobless persons, it means nobody has really rescued the state. Countless number of poorly executed and deceptive buildings and road projects scattered all over the state can never translate to genuine rescue mission. And poor quality education can never guarantee the future of Imo children in a new world order.”

The council expressed confidence in the ability of Emeka Ihedioha to truly salvage Imo State. “Emeka Ihedioha is not a political trader; he cares about the future and is anxiously seeking Imo people’s mandate to render selfless service and thus, enhance his political fortunes.

This is why the Supreme Igbo Security Council has decided to give him full support in the April 11 governorship election,” the council stated.

The President of the council who is also, the founder of Nigeria’s G100 political organisation warned Imo State electorate to be at alert and shun the antics of those who he said, deceived them in 2011 governorship election.

Ihedioha ‘ll Liberate Imo – Patience Jonathan
Stanley Uzoaro
— Mar 10, 2015 | 9 Comments
The wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience, has urged the Imo State electorate to vote massively for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) in the state, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, to free the people from what she described as misrule by the present administration in the state.

Speaking during the PDP Women Presidential Campaign rally in Owerri, the state capital, the First Lady described Ihedioha as the only candidate among others that could bring the dividend of democracy to the people.

Mrs. Jonathan stated that ‘‘Everything about the All Progressives Congress (APC) is shrouded in lies, deceit and insincerity”, urging the women to vote particularly for all the PDP candidates in the state.

She also appealed to the women to vote for President Jonathan, the PDP presidential candidate in the March 28 presidential election.

Speaking earlier, Ihedioha who is also the deputy speaker, House of Representatives, assured the First Lady that Imo State will repeat the 99.6 per cent feat recorded in the 2011 presidential election by voting for Jonathan.

He urged the registered voters in the state to obtain their permanent voter cards (PVCs) to enable them discharge their civic responsibility.

Imo, FG fight over ownership of school classrooms project 0

The faceoff between the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the Minister of Education (State), Prof Viola Onwuliri, is not abating.
The duo had been engulfed in verbal war with the latest being the claims and counter claims over the ownership of a twin storey block of classrooms erected in the 305 wards across the 27 local government areas of the state.

While Okorocha has constantly told the Imo people that the block of classrooms were being built with the N3 billion proceeds of the concessioning of the Adapalm to Roche as part of his free education policy, Mrs Onwuliri claimed that the 305 twin storey classroom blocks were indeed projects sponsored by the Federal Government.

But Oriental News reliably gathered that the project was actually initiated in 2010 by President Goodluck Jonathan as part of his transformation agenda to upgrade primary schools across the federation.

It was equally learnt that the project with the estimated cost of N40 million for each of the storey blocks of classrooms across the state actually commenced in 2011 during the tenure of Governor Okorocha.

However, the Imo governor who has been receiving commendations from natives of the state for erecting the buildings has claimed he had solely erected the twin buildings as part of his free education policy, insisting that the project was funded from the proceeds realized from concession of the Adapalm to Roche, an Irish company, who he said had paid the Imo State government the sum of N3.5 billion.

But the Minister of Education stated that claims by the governor that the schools were built from the proceeds realized from the leasing of Adapalm was fraudulent, describing the attitude of Okorocha as deliberate mischief and a calculated attempt to mislead the Imo people into believing that the administration of President Jonathan has abandoned the state by not citing projects in it.

Prof Onwuliri revealed that she had discovered during her tour of the state shortly, after her assumption of office late last year, that the twin storey classroom blocks the governor was claiming he built was in actual fact sponsored by the Federal Government, pointing out that the Imo State government deliberately refused to put the inscription of Universal Basic Education Commission on them as done in other states which would have enabled the people to know that the project was indeed sponsored by the Federal Government.

Her words: “On assumption of office I had toured the state and I discovered to my utmost surprise that the twin storey classroom buildings sponsored in the state by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Education has no inscription of the Universal Basic Education Commission on them because the state government deliberately refused to inform the Imo people that indeed the project were sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education through UBEC which is under my direct supervision.

“I quickly alerted the necessary quarters and queried why there was no sign to indicate that the project was sponsored financially by the Federal Government. It was shortly after the inspection of the Federal projects in the state that the state government began to label the building SUBEB/UBEC. Even at that, the inscription was not visible for people to see, yet the governor was busy telling Imo people that the President Jonathan-led PDP administration has done nothing in the state.”

She pointed out that the Universal Basic Education programmes was introduced by the Federal Government to reform specifically the basic education sector and the Nigerian education sector in general.

“State Universal Primary Education Board (SUBEB) is an offshoot of UBEC in the states, which is established to address the inequality in educational opportunity at the basic level,” she pointed out, stressing that the programme was introduced by the Federal Government to remove distortions and inconsistencies in basic education delivery and reinforce the implementation of the national policy on education as well as to ensure access, equity and quality of basic education throughout the country.

She accused the Imo State government of having the penchance of covering Federal Government projects in the state from the public knowledge.

For instance, she pointed out that the Federal Government also built similar projects such as new ICT centre and Faculty of Law building at the state-owned university which she commissioned in December last year, built administration block, Engineering Department and Laboratory at Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo.

“This is aside the MDG, River Basin, NDDC, FERMA, Sure-P, You WIN, National Directorate of Employment projects executed by the Federal Government in Imo State, including roads and construction of multi-billion naira grain silo in Okigwe. Yet Governor Okorocha is busy telling the Imo people lies that President Jonathan has done nothing in the state just to deceive them to vote for him and his party, APC,” she lamented.

According to the minister, the Federal Government gave the state government free hand to hire its contractors for the twin storey classroom blocks project.

“But you cannot believe it that only one contractor was hired by the state government to execute the multi-million naira project in all the 305 wards of the state against the Federal Government initial plan to spread the contract and allow the communities to handle the projects, but only one contractor executed the projects for Governor Okorocha,” she disclosed.

However, the claims of Prof. Onwuliri were dismissed by the Imo State government as a bogus lie meant to deceive the people of the state that the projects were sponsored by the Federal Government.

According to the Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, the claim of the minister was a “bogus lie.”

The deputy governor insisted that claims to the 305 schools in 305 wards in Imo State would remain the greatest lie ever told in history in desperate want of political power.

Mrs Uduka stressed that ISUBEB has action plans for all projects which must be approved by UBEC before being implemented.

“UBEC officials came here and saw the twin storey buildings and appreciated Governor Okorocha’s initiative to step up the hope of the children of the poor and the downtrodden because UBEC and ISUBEB as partners in progress in the education of the children,” she said

PoliticsImo State Local Contractors Protest Non-payment Of Contract Sum by Ihedioha2015(op): 2:40pm On Feb 12, 2015
Some local contractors in Imo State have appealed to the Imo State Government to pay up the debt owed to them after executing some contracts for the state government ranging from road construction, building to supply of materials.

Addressing journalist during a peaceful protest within Owerri, the Imo State capital, the aggrieved contractors who organized themselves under the umbrella of Unpaid Imo Contractors said the money which is accrued to about N20 billion since 2011 has brought untold hardship on members of the association, adding that some members have also lost their lives in a bid to pay up their bank debts.

They appealed to the state government to as a matter of urgency pay up these debts so as to allow them clear most of their bank debts and also attend to the needs of their immediate families having executed their different projects.

Meanwhile, all efforts to speak to the Accountant General of Imo State, Stella Udogu and the Commissioner for Finance, Ikechukwu Njoku, whom the contractors accused of non-performance and deceit, proved abortive as all the attempt to get their own side of the story was turned down.

I’ll create 5,000 jobs for Imo youths – Ihedioha 0
BY OUR REPORTER ON JANUARY 23, 2015 POLITICS
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has promised to create about 5, 000 jobs for youths when he takes over as governor by May 29, 2015.

The deputy speaker also vowed to restore the 10,000 jobs provided by former governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim.

Campaigning in Okigwe and Onuimo council areas, Ihedioha explained that he would create the jobs by ensuring that 15 youths from each political ward in the state would be given jobs with which they could take care of their families and not jobs, whose pay cannot take them home.

Apart from this, the PDP gubernatorial flag bearer said through the power substations he attracted to all parts of the state as the deputy speaker, his administration would also create more jobs for the greater number of Imo people.

He regretted that the victims of Ohakim’s job displacement had continued to wallow in avoidable economic pains since they were thrown into the labour market.

“I will create enough jobs for our people mainly by reactivating our technical colleges and I have already started this in my capacity as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and my government will be one that you all will be proud of,” he stressed.

Ihedioha promised that he would restore the people’s value through the provision of qualitative education and which would be matched with the installation of a conducive environment for teaching and learning.

The Deputy Speaker accused the state government of shoddy execution of projects without adherence to due process, lamenting that a whopping N43 billion loan secured by the state government from the bank was wasted on frivolities.

Governor Rochas Okorocha built poor quality roads with shovels and wheelbarrows and these roads have not only become dilapidated few months after they were built but have become death traps.

Ihedioha, who also lashed at the governor for indiscriminate appropriation of lands in the state pledged to make education to have value once again by training teachers in English, Mathematics and arts to accelerate the interest of students in science subjects.

He urged all the party members to retire to their various wards, villages, kindred and communities, educate the rural dwellers why Okorocha should be rejected at the next governorship election.

Earlier, elder statesman and leader of the PDP in the state, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, said he joined in the campaign to remove Governor Rochas Okorocha from office because of the several lies he had told the people of the state.

He explained that the PDP leaders and members chose Ihedioha to be the next governor of the state “because we are fed up with the lies being told Imo people by Governor Rochas Okorocha on daily basis.”

Okorocha is just showmanship — Udenwa

As the head of the President’s re-election team in Imo State, can we know the chances of the President in your state where the governor, Rochas Okorocha is believed to have performed well?

Rochas has not done well in Imo. Just compare the amount of money that is coming into the state and what we have on ground.

Imagine the type of investments that have been done. Are there basic economic investments in Imo State for the past three and half years? Has there been any investment that would boost the economy? It is not by building conference centres. All he has been doing is showmanship.

One of the projects the present administration has undertaken in Imo State is the building of new general hospitals. We have these general hospitals already existing. At least in my time we had about 21 general hospitals in 27 local government areas. He built so much general hospitals when existing ones have not been well equipped. The present administration is so much concerned about showmanship.

Even the so called free education is not free because parents pay indirectly. Parents are paying more than what they were paying in the past. You have registration fee, you have the acceptance fee, you have this and that. At the end it is more than what you’re supposed to be paying.

That was why he announced in November last year that the fees would be abolished. If you now say you want free education at tertiary institution level where does it happen in the world? Where and where? And when you say free education, to who?

It is either if you’re saying free education to all Imo indigenes, it means it is free to them wherever they are in the country. There are a lot of deceits going on. And we are definitely going to expose them.

When are you going to expose these alleged deceits?

Having commenced our campaign on January 19, 2015, we will then expose the tissue of lies Rochas has been feeding our people. It is wrong to believe that our people love him. Most Imo people are already beginning to understand. They’re already beginning to understand.

Sustenance from government

What you’re seeing is a lot of people who depend on the government for their daily bread.

There is hunger in the land. There is so much hunger in Imo State today. So whoever is getting some little sustenance from the government is bound to tell you that he is popular.

What do you want him to say? But I can tell you that when the chips are down most of the people working in this government will vote against the governor and against the APC. His second term ambition is a complete day dream. He is not coming back as governor

On APC administration in Imo

You can deceive people some of the time but not all the time. A lot of eyes are beginning to open. Some of the roads you know, when he came he started roads left, right and centre. Ask me how many of these roads have been completed. Some of the roads that were even completed are already breaking down.

But, is that right? Go to Orlu town many houses were demolished without any compensation till today. Some are in court some have even won their cases. Why would a government do that?

PoliticsAPC Presidential Candidate Faces Arrest In UK For 1984 Kidnap Of Umaru Dikko by Ihedioha2015(op): 9:37pm On Jan 04, 2015
As UK Institutions hesitates on Buhari’s Request for visitation

APC Presidential Candidate Faces Arrest in UK for 1984 Kidnap of Umaru Dikko

Who Would You Vote For President Of Nigeria?

President Jonathan/PDP (52%, 1,142 Votes)
General Buhari/APC (40%, 878 Votes)
None of the above (5%, 113 Votes)
Chekwas Okorie/UPP (4%, 83 Votes)
Total Voters: 2,216

Three decades after his government sponsored the failed abduction and illegal repatriation of the erstwhile Minister of Transport Alhaji Umaru Dikko via a cargo crate, General Muhammadu Buhari’s proposed attempt to return to the United Kingdom as part of his global campaign circuit, received a major setback recently as most major UK and Europe based institutions have turned down his request for visitation.
Investigations indicate that the Buhari Campaign team has received sour reception from some institutions, Government and non-government organizations.
A source in the know revealed that a consultant working for the campaign approached the Chatam House, select members of the House of Commons, members of the EU Parliament, as well as top advocacy groups, policy makers and public opinion molders.

Further investigation indicates that the rejection is not unconnected with the poor human rights record of General Muhammadu Buhari during his reign as military head of state of Nigeria. The APC’s Presidential candidate’s perceived link with extremist Islamic organizations as well as his propensity to instigate electoral violence did not help his case.
The U.K Foreign Office’s most recent annual report on human rights and democracy said the country will reject any ties with known despots and human rights violators.
It condemned “The use of unlawful and arbitrary measures to target human rights defenders including enforced disappearance; house arrest; restrictions on freedom of movement, communication and association; extrajudicial detention and harassment of family members by both past and current leaders across the globe”.
However it was gathered that top APC wigs are puling all strings to seek alternative platform for the ex-military dictator. But some human rights groups are mulling the idea of instituting process that could lead to the arrest of the former dictator to answer charges on the botched extra-judicial deportation of the late Umaru Dikko.
Buhari could be charged under the popular United Kingdom Common law which carries a maximum life sentence for ordering the kidnap and barbaric deportation of Dikko a move which sparked a major diplomatic row between Nigeria and the UK.
Lawyers also point out that that the botched kidnap also contravened the British Aviation Security Act of 1982. It would be recalled that plane designated to transport Dikko who was drugged by his abductors was waiting in the tarmac for its `consignment’ before eagle eyed UK custom officials intervened.
The planned trip coming at a time The United Kingdom’s Prime Minister, David Cameron is facing severe criticism for his perceived watering down of Britain’s “ethical” foreign policy towards human rights violators and known despots.
APC-CONVENTION-600x350
Eleanor Byrne-Rosengren, director of the campaign group Free Tibet, said recently on dealing with dictators, “Mr Cameron needs to restore our pride”.
“Mr Cameron stands up for human rights in Sri Lanka and the right of self-determination in the Falklands. He must show to the world that Britain stands up for justice everywhere.”
The APC had planned the global lecture circuit for their Presidential candidate as part of the world wide campaign to drum up international exposure for General Buhari whose relatively unpopular among members of the international community.
It was also gathered that the APC intends to use the tour to extend its ongoing campaign designed to achieving total discrediting of the president and his team in a bid to place him in a very weak position before a nation that would be clamouring for a change as a prelude to the February 14 Presidential polls.
Findings by this newspaper revealed that the plan is to portray President Goodluck Jonathan as indecisive and weak.
A specific aspect of the agenda which is the portrayal of the Jonathan presidency as anti-people and a puppet of some international agency and governments, in line with the transcript of the U.K based Burson-Marsteller PR Firm in London to boost the profile of the opposition party.

vote ihedioha to save our state from continuous decay.

As the race to capture the seat of government in Imo State in 2015 gathers momentum, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and a front runner in the race, Chief Emeka Ihedioha has vowed to dislodge Governor Rochas Okorocha from the Douglas Road House.

The Deputy Speaker stated this during his state-wide consultation visit of Peoples Democratic Party faithful in Okwelle, Onuimo Local Government Area of the state at the weekend.

Addressing the leaders, officers and stakeholders of the party, he said, “I have come to meet face to face with you and interact on the way forward for our party and our dear state in general. I am motivated to seek the support of our great party for the nomination because I have track record of service delivery including empowerment programmes, infrastructural development, years of experience and indeed the capacity to give Governor Okorocha a technical knockout.”

While lamenting the level of decay in the state, he averred that, “Rochas has sold everything including the Imo Transport Company (ITC), the money spinning Ada Palm, hospitals, including mortuaries, noting that, “the primary purpose of governance is to improve the lives of the people and ensure the security of lives and property.” He regretted that the APC led administration had rather impoverished the state.

Assuring that the state will rise again, Hon. Ihedioha said, “I will fix Imo State and restore the pride of our land. I have a sense of decency and coming with sincerity of purpose, honesty and a well articulated work plan which, by the grace of God, if I am elected, will start impacting the state positively within the first three months of our administration.” He added: “having used my position to attract substantial federal government presence for the benefit of our people, I will also continue to use my position, network of friends and the goodwill I have built over the years to continue to attract amenities to our dear state.”

Ihedioha assured that the ongoing rehabilitation of Owerri-Okigwe Road which he solely facilitated at the cost of N300 million and implemented by FERMA will impact the area positively. He also announced that contract for the construction of the Second Phase of Isi Nweke-Onicha Uboma-Imo River Road in Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area was being awarded in an effort to encourage rice farmers and boost the economy of the state. He enjoined his supporter to continue to keep faith with the party as the only vehicle for good governance and provision of dividends of democracy.

Earlier in his speech, the host and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the local government, Right Honourable Maxwell Duru, former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, while welcoming the Deputy Speaker, described him as an honest and humble politician whose interest is service to the people. He urged him to continue to be a good ambassador, assuring him of their prayers and unalloyed support for the party.

Bleak Xmas For Imo Civil Servants
By Stanley Uzoaru
— Dec 23, 2014 | 11 Comments
Civil servants in Imo State may be going on long holidays courtesy of a two-week holiday granted them by the state government for the Christmas and New Year celebrations even as their salaries are yet to be paid.

Going by the state-wide broadcast by Governor Rochas Okorocha at the weekend, the hope of the civil servants celebrating the festivals with their salaries appears bleak as the governor expressed uncertainty over the possibility of the payment before the year ends.

“The workers would be proceeding on two weeks holiday; their salaries would not be paid immediately but it would be paid soon,” Okorocha stated.

Meanwhile, workers in the state are complaining of financial hardship as most of them settled for meat from local vendors and purchase of their children’s clothings from the popular “Okrika” sellers.

A civil servant who spoke to LEADERSHIP on condition of anonymity said, “I can’t afford a bag of rice; if I can manage to buy some cups of rice and some meat, I will thank God; my children’s wears have been bought already at school road where cheap second-hand clothes are sold.”

Traders of the seasonal items are not left out in the complaint as they lamented low patronage by their customers.
