The boy has so much intelligence to him, emotional and otherwise

The fact that he did not come to the DS, to call Beauty names, and simply said he wished she had handled their stuff differently, and also admitted that he does not know what Groovy tells her, so, he might not know what got her to react that way, is intelligence.

That he admitted he could have done better during the HoH games, and also felt sympathy for Cyph as the sole representative for their Level, is intelligent.

He is so self aware, he knows how to allocate blames and how to allocate praises, he knows when to be understanding.

If you could remember, Maria went into people's black book when she nominated Whitemoney who took her as a friend. Majority were mad at her and ensured that Whitemoney was saved. That was the beginning of Maria's decline on the show.

I think I understand a pattern here. Men can do some stuffs and go scot free but if women do same, they will be excoriated.
