As part of a grand design to truncate the popular will in Akwa Ibom State, some ill-advised party stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party, who had earlier addressed a press conference in Uyo, went a step further and rented an Abuja crowd to protest against the party leadership in Abuja. Following their press conference in Uyo, Monday, in which they talked down on youths and took issues with Governor Akpabio over his assertion that the “future belonged to youths” they followed that up with hiring of Abuja indigenes to protest in Abuja. Commenting on the matter, the State Chairman of the Party, Chief Paul Ekpo said it was curious that an Akwa Ibom matter, which had never elicited any form of protest in Akwa Ibom was witnessing Abuja residents carrying placards and demonstrating against a party leadership elected in Akwa Ibom State. He maintained that on Monday those who addressed the press and spoke against the leadership of the party came to the party secretariat in Uyo for a consultation and mentioned those who came to include Obong Umana Umana, former SSG; Otuekong Don Etiebet, a Board of Trustees member and many others. Chief Ekpo maintained that on that occasion, they did not betray any grievance against the party leadership and described as unfortunate and strange the recourse to asking Abuja indigenes to change the course of history of Akwa Ibom State. Udom’s Bus Donation Ignites Joy in Church It was an igniting of celebration and excitement of a sort as the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Mr Udom Emmanuel alongside some members of the State executive committee, stormed the Qua Iboe Church, Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo, this Sunday, where he donated a 32-Seater Coaster Bus to the Church. Protocol was thrown to the wind as the women and other church members took turns to display the latest dance steps in appreciation of the arrival of the new bus which had eluded them for a while. Mr Emmanuel had charged the Church to maintain moral discipline and godliness as instituted by Jesus, saying that God required of them as Christians to stand out and be exemplary in their actions and behaviours. The SSG recalled that the women fellowship of the Church had invited him when they hosted a programme to buy a bus for the Church, and apologized on his inability to attend the event because of his official assignments. He said that he was motivated that “our mothers” who were largely retirees could contribute and task themselves for the purpose of fulfilling their mandate as Christians. Pastor Wilson Ukpong(R) prays for Mr Udom Emmanuel and members of the State Exco, shortly after the SSG presented a 32-Seater Coaster Bus Pastor Wilson Ukpong(R) prays for Mr Udom Emmanuel and members of the State Exco, shortly after the SSG presented a 32-Seater Coaster Bus While recounting that his own mother was a President of the Women’s Fellowship before her death, Mr Emmanuel enjoined Christian faithful irrespective of their denomination to contribute selflessly to the propagation of the Holy scripture. “You must not forget that it took that young man (Samuel Alexander Bill , founder of Qua Iboe Church) from Belfast in Ireland to abandon his people and come here to deliver the message of salvation to our people,” urging christians to always ponder on whether they were living up their Divine responsibilities wherever they find themselves. According to the State Government Scribe, Christians in Akwa Ibom and neighbouring states have a lot of reasons to appreciate God, hinting that some Christians in some parts of the country have been forced to relocate because of persistent persecution and insecurity. The Church pastor Rev. Udo Wilson Ukpong was on hand to shower the SSG and his entourage with prayers for Divine Guidance and success in their responsibilities. Receiving the vehicle the Chairman of the Church Committee, Elder B U Edet expressed the strong appreciation to “the senior brother” for his show of love, and maintained that he remained a major source of motivation to the Christians all over the State. Mr Emmanuel was accompanied on the visit by some fellow Exco members including, Mr Emmanuel Enoidem, Mr Aniekan Umanah, Engr. Etido Inyang, Chief Godwin Ntukudeh and an industrialist, Arc. Ufot Ebong.

… May Consider Withdrawal From AK Guber Race By Tony Udoma, There are strong indications from several quarters that the former commissioner for finance and one of the governorship aspirants from Uyo senatorial district in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Bassey Albert, is contemplating a withdrawal from the 2015 gubernatorial race. Mr. Albert who along with some elders of the Ibibio ethnic nationality recently organised a reception in honour of the former governor of the State, Obong Victor Attah, received the shocker of his life when the ex-governor went against their expectations, to declare his endorsement for power shift in the state to Eket senatorial district. It is reported that Bassey Albert was furious and down-casted when Attah proclaimed in his speech that “sequential logic avails Eket senatorial district an opportunity to produce the next governor of the State, since Uyo and Ikot Ekpene districts have already taken their shots” An insider source in Mr. Albert’s camp informed newsmen that the former finance boss left the event fuming in anger with a key member of his campaign organization on whose advice the decision to receive Obong Attah was reached, saying the reception was counterproductive to his aspiration. The Inspector General of Police Force Headquarters Louis Edet House Abuja. 15th August, 2014 ACCUSATIONS BY CHIEF ASSAM ASSAM (SAN), NIGERIA’S AMBASSADOR TO THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND BELARUS I wish to report to your good offices the inciting, criminal and unbecoming conduct of Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation and Belarus, Chief Assam Assam, (SAN). His paranoid deployment of malicious falsehood, lies and sedition in his pathological campaign of calumny against my person and the Government of Akwa Ibom State has become a threat to our values as a nation and our diplomacy. Not only is his conduct a breach of diplomatic etiquettes, it is equally injurious to Nigeria’s foreign image and may give our nascent democracy a pariah status in the comity of nations. Note that I make these serious statements with complete understanding and acceptance of their ordinary meanings. For instance, to claim that a serving governor is an experienced killer, as he has done in newspaper interviews and letters, at a time we are battling the Boko Haram insurgency may do the worst possible damage to our nation’s image abroad and show our public officers as irresponsible, lawless and rascally. Chief Assam’s penchant for mischief, lies and seditious propaganda is documented here-under: 1. On July 25, 2014, Chief Assam Assam, who has formally declared and has already begun his campaign for the Governorship of Akwa Ibom State (in spite of being a serving Ambassador), wrote an atrocious letter to the Secretary to theatre Akwa Ibom State Government, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and caused it to be published widely on the Internet. In the letter he accused me of being a killer and planning to assassinate political opponents in order to impose the said Udom Emmanuel as my successor. In the letter he made a veiled threat thus, “One thing I can guarantee is that whoever is killed in your name will certainly leave a trail of revenge killings which the dead may be unable to end…” I certainly have no plan to injure anyone but all the same you may wish to find out what he meant by this incendiary statement, and if this statement does not mean that he has already assembled a team for his proposed intent. (Chief Assam’s Letter and Mr Udom’s reply attached). Click here to continue reading http://insideakwaibom.com/gov-akpabio-petitions-chief-assam-assam-san/

It was indeed a celebration of God’s exceeding grace Upon the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem as he led family members accompanied by friends, well-wishers, top government functionaries, admirers and political associates to appreciate the faithfulness of God upon his life as he clocks 50. Venue of the thanksgiving service, power city international, Nwaniba road, Uyo was filled to capacity as guests watched with admiration as the celebrant told the story of his life to the mammoth crowd. The celebrator who is a deacon and a pastor at the Power City, described his elevation in life from a humble beginning to his current Position as an indication of God’s grace upon him. He thanked his spiritual father and senior pastor of his Church Rev. Dr. Abel Damina and the wife, for nurturing him with the spiritual food which has contributed in making him who he is in life. Pastor Barr. Enoidem, equally appreciated his boss and political leader, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio for finding him worthy to serve in his cabinet first as commissioner for Housing and Urban renewal in 2007, and currently Commissioner for Special Duties. He pledged his un-alloyed loyalty to the governor and his administration and assured of his preparedness to contribute his quota to the emergence of a credible successor in 2015 who will sustain the uncommon transformation programme of the present administration. Earlier, in his homily, the Snr. Pastor of the church, Rev. Dr. Abel Damina, said God’s grace has the capacity to catapult anybody from an obscure position in life to an enviable height. He admonished all to remain steadfast in their faith with God, assuring that God’s children can never see shame. The minister of the gospel described Enoidem’s life story as a true indication of God’s grace and charged others to always be positive in their thoughts and conversation about their lives. Addressing the gathering, Governor Godswill Akpabio who arrived the church before the commencement of the thanksgiving service, described the celebrant as hardworking, and a dependable ally in the uncommon transformation project of his government. He spoke glowingly of Barr. Enoidem, describing him as an asset in his administration. The governor explained that with Enoidem in his cabinet he could give him any task no matter how challenging such assignment appeared to be and he will always deliver on the job without giving excuses. Guest were later treated to a colourful reception at the Ibom Hall along IBB Avenue with notable artiste including the International worship leader, Sinach, Buchi and a popular Comedian, Sir James among others on hand to entertain guests. The ceremony was streamed live on the internet to a wide audience of viewers within and outside the country by USKON Stream Media, Uyo. Below are the pictures of the event. The Vice Chancellor University Of Uyo Uyo Dear Madam FORGERY OF UNIVERSITY OF UYO CERTIFICATE We, Members of Integrity Vanguards, a human rights advocacy group, with affiliated and links all over Nigeria, are worried at the trend of events unfolding in Nigerian Universities in respect of the loss of morals and other deviant behaviours on campuses. Being a group with a mandate to ensure sanity and moral rectitude in Nigeria, which the University is a nucleus, we are under obligation to constantly voice out our concerns against the anomalies in the University system which include, improper dress code, putting an end to “sorting”, and certificate forgery, otherwise known as “oluwole”, victimization of students by lecturers and cultism, for which some highly placed persons in the society are culpable. This unwholesome culture has bedevilled the Nigerian society to the extent that, if it remains unchecked through a collective action, we would bequeath to our future generations, unenviable legacies that will invariably lead to institutional decay in the country. Of course, when social institutions in a country are weak, sustainable development remains a mirage. We can recall that the period between 1998 and 2002, stands out in the annals of the university history as “inglorious years”. During this period, the then Vice- Chancellor of the university, Professor Akpan Hogan Ekpo initiated a total clampdown on cultism, examination malpractices and certificate forgery, and over 1000 ghost students were shown their way out, while over 500 university certificates were withdrawn from those who graduated through surreptitious means. It’s pertinent to note that that bold and imaginative step was highly applauded, as it went a long way to restoring the dignity and prestige of the University of Uyo. But we have observed with utmost dismay, that that culture of constantly purging the institution of the perpetrators of certificate forgery and other corrupt click here to continue reading http://insideakwaibom.com/bassey-albert-akpan-certificate-scam-group-petitions-uniuyo-vc-icpc/

GOVERNMENT OF AKWA IBOM STATE Office of the Secretary to Government July 25, 2014 Chief Assam E. Assam Ede Urua, Eket – Akwa Ibom State Dear Chief Assam, RE: THREAT BY GOVERNOR GODSWILL AKPABIO TO ASSASSINATE POLITICAL OPPONENTS We are in receipt of your letter dated July 22, 2014 on the above subject matter. We observed with utter dismay its inciting contents and the consequent wide publication of the letter in the press and in the Internet for apparent selfish political motives. However, as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, a man of over 68 years of age, and an Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, one would have expected a certain level of civility and decorum in your conduct and communication – your antecedents not withstanding. One notes that, during the administration of Governor Victor Attah fourteen years ago, you used the occasion of your birthday to write a letter dripping with vitriol such as this to Obong Victor Attah. H.E. Assam Ekanem Assam Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the Russian Federation. Assam Assam and his well-known path of self-destruction! The attention of 3 for 1 Ambassadors has been drawn to a face book post allegedly circulated by Chief Assam Ekanem Assam on 22nd of July, 2014 to the astonishment of the public. In the said outburst by the Eket born Lawyer and currently Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Russia, Chief Assam threw caution to the wind and decided to use such an online social medium as Facebook to malign the office and person of His Excellency Chief Dr. Godswill Obot Akpabio and the Secretary to the State Government, Deacon Udom Emmanuel. For the records, we wish to put the roving politician who has refused to face his ambassadorial job, but rather decide to meddle in petty and dirty politics on the right path by informing him that our governor, never at anytime threatened to “assassinate” his perceived “Political opponents”. Your toxic letter to Mr. Udom Emmanuel is uncalled for at this point in time as you have ended up raising unnecessary alarm with the aim of scoring cheap political point. How we wish you were present at the venue of the ground breaking ceremony at the PDP permanent secretariat, you would have been in a better position to listen to the governor’s speech. It is however unfortunate and a pity that you have so elected to be brain washed by those spurious and misleading write ups in the newspapers, online media and the lies spread by anti-government forces whose desperation for political power has started driving them nuts. Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday, said death awaited politicians seeking power through the backdoor in the state. He warned political gladiators in the state against struggling for power without decorum. Akpabio added that all those who had betrayed him would not enter the Government House in 2015. Speaking in Uyo during the turning of the sod for the construction of the People’s Democratic Party secretariat in the state, the governor said those craving for power must be loyal to constituted authority, describing power as procedural. “Just as God threw Lucifer unto the Earth, those who have betrayed the governor of Akwa Ibom State will not enter the Government House. “And because of impatience, Absalom (son to King David) wanted to take over by killing King David. And when David heard, he asked the people to leave him. This did not end up well with Absalom. He died before his father. Those who want to take power through the backdoor will die and the PDP will continue,” he said: click here to continue reading http://insideakwaibom.com/gov-akpabio-says-death-awaits-politicians-seeking-power-backdoor/ |
Mr. Umana Okon Umana, immediate past Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, has re-assured his teeming supporters throughout the state and beyond that he is still in the governorship race. Noting that the contest for the office of governor of the state is open to all eligible aspirants irrespective of his senatorial district, Umana called on politicians in the state who are willing and ready to feel free and enter the race. A communiqué issued by the state chapter of the PDP after its executive committee meeting on Tuesday had sought to create confusion in the minds of the people of the state by stating that the party has “zoned the governorship position to Eket Senatorial District,” while at the same time concluding that its position on zoning “is without prejudice to the right of any other person from other senatorial districts to contest for the governorship seat in 2015.” Umana, a leading governorship contender in the 2015 race, noted that the contradiction and double speak in the position of the SEC of the party reaffirm that there is no zoning in the choice of candidates for election in the party, a position, he noted, that is also confirmed by the policy statement of the National Chairman of the party. He said the vote for open contest is consistent with the history of electoral contest in the state, which shows that the office of governor is always keenly contested by aspirants from the three senatorial districts, after which all other positions are shared among the 10 federal constituencies that make up Akwa Ibom State. He accordingly urged his supporters to remain calm and trust in God’s perfect will over the election.
