abo oro la nso fun omoluwabi
to ba de inu re a di odindi
half a word is enough for
a responsible child as it becomes
a full word when it gets inside him
a word is enough for the wise
must you learn from your own experience?
why not learn from the wisdom of elders?
wisdom is human, philosophical and divine!
choose wisdom today and find serenity
make experience your friend
and pain and regret will be
your daily companions!
LiteratureRe: Snail Melody by isaiahogodo(op): 8:11pm On Apr 12, 2015
Let's talk about patience!
LiteratureSnail Melody by isaiahogodo(op): 8:10pm On Apr 12, 2015
I crawl, not snarl, patiently
Through the thick forest of time
Weaving through leaves, figs, soil and grime
Carrying quietly my shell burden calmly
Do you laugh at my pace?
Don't you know steady and slow the race
Wins surely? Just look at others
Contending for life's many trophies
They run, fast and furious
But in their haste, they end up in crashes!
Yet, here I am, snailing my trail
But sure to get there without derail
My destination is as clear as the sun
Safe home arrival is certain as morn
For little by little life is
One step at a time it really is
That way, you will surely succeed
Even though failure will you try to breed!
LiteratureRe: Nigerian God by isaiahogodo(op): 12:44pm On Apr 11, 2015
Just a line how lucky Nigerians are to have the Almighty God behind them!
LiteratureNigerian God by isaiahogodo(op): 12:42pm On Apr 11, 2015
you speak Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and even Urhobo
you keep us united despite our differences
you put food on our tables even though our leaders starve us
you made us the Giant of Africa despite our folly
you keep us strong in spite of our many frailties
you sustain us in spite of Boko Haram and other wahala
oh God Almighty, who says you are not a Nigerian?
Poems For ReviewRe: The Calabash by isaiahogodo(op): 8:34pm On Apr 10, 2015
Vintage thanks to God!
Poems For ReviewThe Calabash by isaiahogodo(op): 8:34pm On Apr 10, 2015
these are the fruits
contained in my black calabash:
praise, candour, truth, thankgiving and adulation
there is also a gourd
full of sacrificial praise palmwine
tapped during the midnight of tribulation
I dine, wine and fecundate
in gleeful dance I celebrate You
yes, You, my God!
LiteratureRe: The Drunkard by isaiahogodo(op): 8:13pm On Apr 09, 2015
Still on thanksgiving!
LiteratureThe Drunkard by isaiahogodo(op): 8:12pm On Apr 09, 2015
my palmwine of gratitude
I bring with outstretched arms
drunk with the stupour of adulation
Lord kindly accept this humble sacrifice!
LiteratureRe: Oghene Rukevwe! by isaiahogodo(op): 2:07pm On Apr 09, 2015
Just a line of gratitude to God!
LiteratureOghene Rukevwe! by isaiahogodo(op): 2:06pm On Apr 09, 2015
you put food on my table
made me hale and hearty
you made me tall, strong, intelligent, and lively
you defy my fears, doubts, disappointments and setbacks
because of you, I can face anything
because of you, I am bold, optimistic and innovative
yes, you are the reason why I live
the essence of my very existence!
Oghene rukevwe!
you are my hope, refuge and strength
I thank you for the wonder of my being!
LiteratureRe: Ogheneovo! by isaiahogodo(op): 10:01am On Apr 09, 2015
Just a few thoughts on religion!
LiteratureOgheneovo! by isaiahogodo(op): 10:00am On Apr 09, 2015
one
universal
absolute
omniscient
omnipotent
omnipresent
that is who He is
God Almighty!
need we quarrel about who He is?
need we kill each other because of Him?
need we stigmatize, castigate and malign
one another because of our belief in God?
if we do that, then it is not God we are worshiping
it is something else!

Lord have mercy on us all!
LiteratureOghene Biko! by isaiahogodo(op): 3:40pm On Apr 08, 2015
for sins of the flesh
for sacrileges against your holy name and church
for denying your authority and power
for abusing our freedoms and bodies
for every sin in thought, word and deed
for sins of omission and commission
oh Lord have mercy on us all!
even as mankind tries to expel you
from the order of things
Oghene bikooooooooo!

LiteratureRe: Lonely Man by isaiahogodo(op): 10:20am On Apr 07, 2015
Just some lines on my personal loneliness as I view it!
LiteratureLonely Man by isaiahogodo(op): 10:19am On Apr 07, 2015
I stand tall, proud and optimistic!
I believe in the promise of tomorrow.
Though lonely, I am not alone!
I am a one-man army
Fighting through life's arduous journey.
Yes, I am lonely but not alone
For one with God is majority.
I have got a big heart to take
Whatever life throws at me:
Bereavement, cruelty, heartbreak, hatred,
Jealousy, wickedness, condescension,
Name it: no matter the vice
For my virtue, I would still learn to love;
I will not let the world make me a monster!
Yes, I am lonely but I am not alone
For I am propelled by God,
By an inner strength that's driven
To conquer the world despite
The toil, crosses and disappointments of life.
I am lonely but not alone as
I am moved by a force greater than I am,
A cosmic force that gravitates me towards
Joy, fulfillment, blessings and ultimately love.
Yes, I can afford to be lonely
Because my life is smaller than I,
Because my life doesn't belong to me,
It's God's!

Still basking in the euphoria of Easter!
LiteratureCross Crown by isaiahogodo(op): 4:22pm On Apr 06, 2015
disgraced he was
a criminal he was tagged
jeered at, derided, scourged was he
he was publicly hanged between two thieves
he died like a common thief
then he was buried in a grave that did not belong to him
but he rose on the third day
yes, Jesus had the last laugh
he triumphed over sin, death and the grave
Jesus is alive!
Jesus is Lord!
LiteratureRe: Died To Rise Again by isaiahogodo(op): 5:15pm On Apr 05, 2015
A few thoughts on Easter's feast!
LiteratureDied To Rise Again by isaiahogodo(op): 5:14pm On Apr 05, 2015
death and then graveyard silence
seeming endless overwhelming darkness
a seemingly all conquering grave
lifeless, friendless, abandoned
an empty end it looked
but alas a new dawn is birthed
hark, a victory is recorded
Jesus rose from the grave!
Jesus defied death!
Jesus is alive!
LiteratureRe: Born To Die by isaiahogodo(op): 12:36pm On Apr 03, 2015
My little take on the Good Friday celebrations today!
LiteratureBorn To Die by isaiahogodo(op): 12:35pm On Apr 03, 2015
born to die
he embraced ignominy, disgrace, derision
he welcomed death as a criminal
he dined with the scandalous grave
all for me
all for mankind
yes, in Jesus, God died for man!
LiteratureRe: Big Heart by isaiahogodo(op): 12:04pm On Apr 02, 2015
Just a line on what it means to love unconditionally!
LiteratureBig Heart by isaiahogodo(op): 12:03pm On Apr 02, 2015
give me a big heart, oh Lord
large enough to contain my world
vast enough to harbour the good, the bad, the ugly
filled with love to take pain, treachery, back-stabbing
magnanimous enough to accept love and hate
yes Lord, do give me a heart precisely like yours!
LiteratureRe: Abiku by isaiahogodo(op): 11:30am On Apr 02, 2015
Just a play on the Abiku legend!
LiteratureAbiku by isaiahogodo(op): 11:29am On Apr 02, 2015
this is my spirit
the recalcitrant spirit
the wanderer spirit
the undying spirit
my spirit will come and go
like the proverbial Abiku
but it only comes and goes like me
whose feet does not in one place stay
my spirit will see the world
going from east to west, north to south
I have got adventure in my bones!

My frank take on the subject of love!
LiteratureGbam! by isaiahogodo(op): 9:26am On Mar 31, 2015
true love
is
day break
when
you
see
light
air
sunshine!
true love
is
a delicious
breakfast
after
numbing, nagging hunger!
true love
is a miracle
waking you up
from a dreadful sleeping sickness!
