You're the man sir but White Plains isn't in any NYC borough. No it's not in the Bronx.
I know that, I was making a comparison between the District Courts in the areas surrounding the Boroughs and cities like Yonkers etc and those that are clearly "Upstate" like Albany, Buffalo, Troy etc. I was just showing how there are clearly more than 11 U.S District Courts in the United States contrary to the claims made by the fellow in the post I quoted.

My friend when you qualify something has one of the lowest, it does not automatically mean the lowest. E.g. We have 5 floors in a building, I could choose to say floor 3 or 2 represents one of the lowest floors. Now since we are talking about district courts and in this case federal district courts, I'm correct to call it one of the lowest because compared to circuit courts and Supreme court, it handles every trashy case thrown at it. Now being one of the lowest does not mean inefficient, it only means that cases of highly important magnitudes rarely ever gets settled in district courts. I hope I've been able to enlighten you a little bit....No need to thank me grin grin
Again, the wise thing to do in this situation is to just scroll and read what others are writing.

It's one of the lowest courts, not the lowest. I think English is a simple language but we make it complicated at times!
Have you ever heard that saying that "Its better to keep quiet and be thought of a f00l, than open your mouth and erase all doubts?". It is very apt in this case.

The U.S District Court is THE LOWEST COURT IN THE FEDERAL JUDICIAL SYSTEM.

As an AUSA, you are a criminal prosecutor. Claims under the TVPA and the ATCA are usually civil matters and don't involve federal prosecutors. I'm no expert here but I studied the TVPA hard in law school.
I was a defense attorney for a brief period; but even that has no bearing on what we are talking about. What has my past as Prosecutor got to do with the issue at hand? Nothing! Wasn't I the one that quoted the Saro-wiwa et all case using the other handle with I deactivated? So, you mean I should have no idea on procedural matters? You, as a claimed Attorney, should know better.

Anyway, none of us knows how this is all going to go down. But, if experience is worth anything, I'd say this case will most likely be put on the back burner then eventually tossed. And WITH PREJUDICE to boot.

Do you know what a federal district court is?

This is not the judge Judy you are familiar with.

Ask Bola and Remi Tinubu to tell you how they faced serious felony and ricco charges in the same Federal district court

To educate your ignorant taju afonja ass, there are only 11 Federal district courts for all 50 states in the US.

Olodo
And here we go again.....

This country has almost 100 Federal Judicial Districts and each State/Territory had at least one District Court. Depending on the size of the State there can be as many as 3-5 separate District Courts in it. Take New York State for example, as small as the Boroughs are, there are District Courts in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Whiteplains; and we haven't yet started talking about the ones upstate in places like Albany, Rochester, Buffalo etc. Then if we move over to bigger states like Texas, California etc You get the point now don't you?

I think its a Nigerian thing to try and bamboozle people. Its just the same way your politicians seem to have succeeded in keeping your whole society in bondage.

You must have a serious problem with Osogbo people cos I've never been there grin grin grin The court will hear any case brought before it, it is a freaking district court, one of the lowest in the USA. Call me when they have Burutai in chains....ODE!
A U.S District Court is not "one of the lowest in the U.S.A", thats very condescending. Its the Lowest court in the Federal System, yes, but without stepping foot in it you can't seek redress in higher Federal Courts. Its a system.

If the judge didn't throw out their suit, it means they did all necessary prerequisites.
No, it just means they filed properly with the clerk and paid the necessary filing fees. It doesn't mean this sham of a suit won't be tossed in the end. Like I previously stated, this is obviously a waste of time of the Court and I can just imagine the present mindset and temperament of the Judge burdened with this crap of a case.

however, recently, the Supreme Court of California as well as the Court of Appeal the fifth Circuit in New York has decided that the Act is a nuisance as it goes beyond being a watchman to being a hunter...
You did good on everything else, and I completely agree with your premise, but just a quick question:

ON WHAT PLANET IS THE U.S COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE FIFTH CIRCUIT SITUATED IN NEW YORK?!

I swear you Nigerians and the tendency to pretend to know something which you're obviously not versed in....

LOLOLOL. You don't know what you're talking about. The Torture Victims Protection Act and Alien Tort Claims Act enacted by the US Congress gives the US Court jurisdiction. The issue will be the enforceability of the judgment on a non-us citizen/resident defendant with no assets or property interests in the US. You don't know the plaintiff so you don't know the strength of their case. Even if the situation is normal is Nigeria, it is irrelevant if it is not internationally recognized to be normal. Ultimately the plaintiffs may lose but we don't know yet since the court took the case rather than throw it out for lack of merit.
Yes, we'll just take your word for it. Lets just ignore the fact that I was a AUSA for over a decade. You Nigerians and your pretending to know it all always give me heart palpitations..

This is why I deactivated my account but I just got notification on my phone about this old post and had to make another one just to respond to this. You guys give me a headache its not even funny.
