Reviewing the 3 Ps (PPP) of governance in past administrations since Nigeria got her democracy. Government functions through Policies, Programs and Projects or what I like to refer to as the 3Ps of governance. Review these in past and present administrations tells how well democratic rule has fared. This is not aimed at pitching one camp against another. I may not be 100% correct in my analysis. Please correct and do not bash any one. You can add yours as well. Thanks. 1999 – 2003, 2003-2007: President/Vice – Olusegun Obasanjo/Atiku Abubakar POLICIES: -EFCC -ICPC -Telecommunication PROGRAMS: -Bank of Industries -NAFDAC -Poverty Alleviation -Decentralization and expansion of the nation’s military armory MAJOR PROJECTS: -Revitalization of Steel industries (Ajaokuta and DSC) -Dualization of Benin Warri road. 2007 – 2011: President/Vice – Umar Musa Yaradua/Goodluck Jonathan; The vice later became president. I have witnessed several illegal deductions from my glo account during a call. Most annoying is what they tell you after waiting for an average of 10mins when calling customer service. They repeatedly tell you to call back that the software needed to run a check on your account is being upgraded but never gets upgraded. These people are exploiting us. I wish to change service provider but do not wish to lose my number. How do I do it? Can I sue? |
The bed rock of any economy is the educational sector. The bed rock of any academic institution is RESEARCH. What is the research level of our institutions? If you take research from an academic institution, it stops being an academic institution and becomes a certificate awarding body. I remember my days in school. Projects were copy and paste. Just pay a project fee, get an old project, paraphrase if you can, print, bind and submit; I wondered what the word “Plagiarism” meant. Why do they even teach it in Nigerian schools when it is not applicable here. Back to research, the government has not helped matters. Our problems as a notion can be solved if we revert back to the universities and polytechnics for solutions that suit our state. Contract these problems out as a project and let students of young and vibrant minds find the solution without plagiarizing. For example, designing a prototype for a nuclear plant for electricity should be given to a Nigerian school. When they don’t have such facilities, they can send students to universities where these facilities are on scholarship to do it. It is a lot better than going to China as we can then boast of a Nigerian Nuclear plant for Nigeria and by Nigerians. These people we run to for even tooth pick started like this, bore the pains of their failures and are moving ahead. Prototypes for government projects should be designed in Nigerian universities and by Nigerian students. Nigerian manufactures should also be given priority for building such designed prototype unless they don’t have the capacity to do so. This keeps our universities engaged and students better in research. It also increases the revenue base of our universities as we can sell such technologies out to other nations. It increases the standard of our universities and it will attract the private sector. This is how most countries succeed as such prototype is covered by Intellectual Property and becomes the nation’s technology. RESEARCH WITHOUT PLAGIARISM is the way to go. |
A genuine question should be how do we change Islam. Islam is a very good religion. I am a christian before you scold me. There are countries around the world that have come out good due to belief in Islam. Dubai where our girls run to for prostitution is an Islamic country. Abu Dhabi, Quater e.t.c Islam no doubt has it's own short comings, like every other religion in the world, but Islam is changing though very slowly. A modern Islam is good. What we have in this part of the world and everywhere else where Islam has been portrayed in bad light is political Islam. Political religion is where religious leaders take from followers and do not give back or even show them the way. That is what we have in Nigeria. Political religion. Where there is limited resources, leaders come together in equitable distribution and work to create more. But politics and political religion does selective favoritism. If we take out religion from Nigeria, we still will kill ourselves. |
Wish them well. Wish Nigeria well. We shall succeed. |
It is difficult to see engineering jobs advertised lately. Is it good for the economy? Drop in fuel subsidy payment. Could this be due to drop in commercial activities? SMEs can't access bank loans easily, bank debtors being shamed instead of analysing why they could not payback debt; even the federal government owes till date. Storing cash in the name of sovereign wealth fund when people can't feed. What is the sovereign wealth fund of the US and western countries? |
If they succeed, Nigeria succeeds. |
If this government succeeds then Nigeria succeed. |
