It's true that government can't run every business in a country but which one is the Nigerian govt running and running effectively?
While it's true that private sector participation is key to national development, the govt must however show active interest in the key sectors. The Saudi govt runs Aramco, Brazil runs Petrobas while the Russian govt has about 50 or so percent equity in Gazprom and these are corporations raking in billions of dollars in revenue for the govt.

It's a shame that Dangote a private individual can run a refinery while the govt can't.

I am not a spokesperson for the government, rather than sucking about Dangote's refinery and why that of government can't function, I will be happy someone who's a Nigerian is running a refinery same way BUA will open his own too.
To tell you that Nigerian government can't run businesses is the reason why Obudu cattle ranch is dying on daily basis, it's the reason why football clubs in Nigeria are not making meaningful progress, it's the reason why so many state owned cooperations sank and died, provided individuals can fill in the spaces, I'm more than happy.
I prefer individuals running businesses than the government in this country, there's no shame in it.

We celebrate Dangote's success and hopes it translates to cheaper price of petroleum products in Nigeria. What Dangote's success shows however is govt's irresponsibility and we shouldn't be happy with it.

Government can't run all businesses in a country.
Not until we realize that most of the development Nigeria needs is entrepreneurs rising up to solve societal problems while making money from it, we will suffer as a country.

Countries doing well financially and economically depends on firms, companies, industries as well as factories that are successful, so a country depends on it's people and entrepreneurs, if you don't want it to be one person, build your own.
