@ Jam04, kudos for ur time, and congrats @ ur work, plz i need ur advice, i have flair for fish farming, my challenge is that the compound is not secured, i have one small concrete tank, formally used for water storage, but i want to try out with 50 juveniles or lesser, there is also water supply in place, what size of feed and product is good. I need general advice on how to start.
NB: am not rushing for profits yet but to learn the rudimentary.

The size of feed depends on the age of your seeds, could be juvenile or fingerlings. Since this is just a test case, start with fingerlings. Difficult to manage but with time you will perfect it. Start with 0.5mm coppens for the first week and if good progress is observed move to 0.7mm in the 2nd week. I finish off with durante as soon as they are able to pick 1.2mm feed and i use durante for 1month before switching to local feed. In your own case i wont advice you to use local feed atall

The most important thing is water Ph.. Check your water ph to be sure of its suitable dor hatching

Runts have flat head and thin body. Particularly check their head

Hi everyone. I have been following this thread since last year before I ventured into the biz . I just constructed earthen ponds and stocked with 8 wk old juveniles last werk Thursday. I noticed a few hanging on Friday and about 15 juv dead. I added tetracycline to the pond but still notice some hanging, please what should I do? I read in one of the posts to combine chloramphenecol to the tetracycline and not feed, can I still do that.

you just bought tetra and added to the pond straight..lol i guess you are raising the fishes to test the business first or for home consumption. havent you heard or read never to add tetracycline into a main tank or pond where fishes are? im so sure you didnt read it here to do so.

forget paper and internet farmers. this is the real deal here...we do what we write about. this pond has 4500 fishes @ 15 weeks. size of pond is 30m by 30m by 4ft.
