CareerWhat Are The Upcoming Career Paths In Artificial Intelligence? by Jamesdaniel01(op): 9:53am On Jan 07, 2020
Artificial intelligence, now, is frequently referred to as augmented reality. This distinction makes sense because artificial intelligence is meant to increase human capabilities and improve processes. This does sound like a respite after hearing several business publications, technology magazines, industry publications, proclaiming that artificial intelligence will eat jobs.

Artificial Intelligence is creating more jobs

Instead, artificial intelligence is creating new job roles. Gartner predicts that AI will create more jobs than it eliminates. The global research firm says, by 2020, artificial intelligence will create 2.3 million jobs, while 1.8 million jobs will be lost to it. There is already a spurt in AI-related roles. Some never-heard-before roles like Automation Ethicist, Interactive Chatbot Designer, etc. have already started making it to job boards. Convincingly, the AI landscape is expanding and increasingly finding newer use-cases in industry.

LinkedIn’s recent report on job analysis found Machine Learning Engineer as the fastest-growing role among jobs, followed by Data Scientist, Sales Manager, and Customer Success Manager. Further, Gartner, says, healthcare, public sectors, and education will see major growth due to AI. Manufacturing, however, will lose jobs to artificial intelligence.

New career paths in artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence is providing new avenues for business, for businesses to do more. A whole new industry has emerged building a new frontier for innovation and increasing productivity. Thus, giving origin to new career paths in artificial intelligence.

A few fellows from Accenture predict that job roles in artificial intelligence that will emerge will be mainly along these three – trainers, explainers, and sustainers.

Following are some job titles that the fellows predict will emerge and make new artificial intelligence career paths —

1) Customer-language tone and meaning trainer – These professionals will train AI systems to derive meaning of words, beyond their literal
meaning. For example, they will detect sarcasm, remorse, etc.
2) Context Designer – These professionals will train machines to make smart decisions based on business, processes, professional, and cultural factors.
3) Automation Economist —These professionals will evaluate cost of poor machine performance
4) Automation Ethicist – These professionals will evaluate non-economic impact of smart machines.

In addition to these, following artificial career paths already exist

1) Voice of the customer (VoC) Analyst – These professionals analyze to-and-from customer communication and identify insights. They analyze customer communication to answer business questions as they arise.
2) Imagery Analyst – Responsible for collecting images and labelling them according to pre-defined descriptions.
3) Interactive Chatbot Designer – Responsible for creating interactive chat scripts for high-end-consumer products.

Building a lucrative career in artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence has not only developed a new industry altogether; it is changing the face of other industries too. From simple website chatbots to driverless cars, artificial intelligence is permeating every sphere of industry. In turn, this has opened up lucrative jobs for AI professionals. According to Indeed, the average salary of an Artificial Intelligence Engineer is $134,135, which is above the average salary for an IT job.
