Applications are invited for the University of West London (UWL) International Ambassador Scholarship 2020. The International Ambassador Scholarship is intended to recognise and provide financial support for outstanding students who wish to act as ambassadors for UWL.

As an ambassador you will be an active representative of the University. You will be expected to participate in current and future promotional activities, and as such, will be interviewed and photographed by the marketing department. The scholar will also contribute from time to time in the promotion of the University by supporting events organised for scholars, and events organised by the International Office.

The scholar agrees no payment will be made for their participation in promotional activities. The scholar assigns to the University any intellectual property or other rights which are created as part of the promotional material. The University reserves the right to revoke the scholarship in the event the scholar is not fulfilling the requirements of the role.

The Swiss Africa Business Innovation Initiative (SABII) aims to boost the entrepreneurial know-how and exposure of African graduate students – entrepreneurs seeking growth opportunities by offering a unique program bringing entrepreneurs to innovation hotspot in Morocco and Switzerland.

Offered free of charge to ambitious young entrepreneurs with academic background, this highly competitive program comprises a 3-days workshop for advanced innovation entrepreneurs, and for the top eight candidates, a 4 days intense business development program in the Swiss startup and business ecosystem.

Program Structure

Day 1: Learn to deliver a unique customer value, master a convincing pitch and define a striking business plan

Cost
The program is free of charge. Flights, transport and accommodation expenses on site in Marrakesh are covered by the program.

Applications for the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF) Commercialization Program 2020 are now open. The MSCRF Commercialization Program was created to foster the transition of promising technologies having significant commercial potential from Universities, where they were discovered, to the commercial sector, where they can be developed into products and services that meet identified market needs.

Specifically, it is the intent of the Commercialization Program to foster the commercialization of such technologies through technology validation, market assessment, and the creation of University start-up companies in Maryland. A “University Start-up” is a company reliant on a technology licensed from a University for commencement of its operations.

Subject to meeting the program requirements, awards of up to $270,000, may be made directly to a startup company.

Fishbowl is an intense 6-month business planning competition to tackle some of the world’s most important challenges. Teams from around the world compete for a fully-funded summer to pursue their venture and for a shot at seed funding while receiving feedback from mentors and judges along the way.

How It Works
The competition is remote and will see students forming remote groups of 4-5 people to work on an idea for a venture that solves a pressing need for the World over 6 months. Students will have the chance to work as part of an international team of like-minded peers in solving problems with the support of mentors and resources to guide them along the way.

The challenge is founded on two main principles: an interconnected world where many of the problems today can only be solved through collaborative efforts and the need to empower young people to add their voice, knowledge and resources to make the world a better place.

Teams will be competing for a chance to win up to $50,000 in prize money to develop their ideas further over the summer and will be attending the 2021 Finals in Berlin, Germany (all expenses paid).
