There is no denying the fact that the upcoming Galaxy series smartphone from Samsung will be one of the most crucial launches from the company in recent history. The debacle of Galaxy Note 7 smartphone has put Samsung in a situation where it need a very strong product to bounce back. In the meanwhile, another rumour is pointing to a larger variant of the Samsung Galaxy S8 next year, called the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, filing the gap between the flagship Galaxy S series and the flagship phablet READ MORE:HERE

Introduced last year as part of a heavy refresh, the Ford Explorer’s top-of-the-line, $54,180 Platinum trim is a push-button gear selector and a few pieces of bodywork away from passing for a Lincoln. Although exterior differences between the Platinum and lesser Explorers are few—consisting of details such as an egg-crate grille, chrome mirror caps, and 15-spoke wheels—the flagship Explorer’s passenger compartment separates itself from the herd with high-brow fittings such as a 10-inch digital gauge cluster, quilted leather seats, a leather-wrapped dashboard, and real wood and aluminum accents on the dash, doors, and steering wheel. Never bet against Samsung. Despite successfully recalling 93 percent of Galaxy Note7 phones in the U.S., there are still more active Note7’s being used than its closest competitors, including the very capable LG V20. The data comes from the research firm Apteligent (via AndroidPolice), and shows the on-its-deathbed Note7 still sitting pretty above the LG V20, HTC Bolt and OnePlus 3T. The chart is interesting, considering how Note7 users have had months to return and exchange their phones as part of Samsung’s global recall. READ MORE: HERE

Samsung Galaxy Note7 owners are being forced to give up their phones — that doesn’t mean they’re all going to go quietly into the night, though. Just because some devoted Note7 owners have been told their phones are too dangerous to own, are banned from airlines forever, and will be crippled by software updates doesn’t mean they’re all simply heeding the global recall. But what recourse do these (either unwaveringly brave, or incredibly reckless and stupid) phone owners have? What can they possibly do to keep Samsung from prying their precious Note7s from them? Most of today’s flagship smartphones can be described as beautiful, but fragile. Materials like glass and metal also make smartphones more prone to slipping out of our hands than the plastic models of previous generations. Not to mention big phablets are nearly impossible to use with one hand, making them even more likely to accidentally take a tumble. Nobody likes a cracked a screen, a dented bezel, a destroyed charging port or a crushed headphone jack. And nobody likes paying to have their broken phones replaced. READ MORE:HERE

As India embraces a cashless economy, there has been a sudden spurt in new mobile wallet companies – but most of these start-ups are setting up digital shops without knowing the cyber risks involved, a top executive from US-based cyber-security firm FireEye has emphasised. This is a dangerous trend when the country still lacks proper infrastructure and legislation to fight against cybercriminals. READ MORE: HERE

OnePlus 3T is the latest phone from the original market disruptors, and comes as one of our most highly recommended smartphones of the year. It essentially took what was great about the OnePlus 3 and made it faster, and last longer. Similarly, the iPhone 7 Plus is an improved version of the 6s Plus, which in itself was an improved version of the 6 Plus. Both phones are available to buy now, but come with hugely different price tags. The question is: does the difference in experience justify the price gap? READ MORE: HERE

If you think you don’t need security software, think again. Trojans, ransomware attacks and other online threats are becoming more and more prevalent. Even though Windows 8 and 10 come with Windows Defender built in, this basic antivirus provision isn’t guaranteed to protect you from the latest dangers. There’s a huge risk from “zero-day” attacks that exploit previously unknown vulnerabilities. That means that the old model of simply scanning your PC for known malware won’t keep you safe any more.
