Dutse — Presidential campaign posters for the joint ticket of Governors Sule Lamido and Chibuike Amaechi of Jigawa and Rivers States respectively have flooded some major towns in Jigawa State. The posters were pasted in private and public buildings at Ringim town on Sunday by some youths allegedly hired by prominent politicians in the state. When Vanguard visited Ringim town, some people who were apparently excited by the development were seen in groups discussing the development, hoping that Lamido would get his party’s ticket to rule the country. The posters were said to have been brought into Ringim town in large quantities as supporters, party members and other well wishers started collecting the posters which were pasted in commercial buildings, motor parks and other strategic places along the Unity Road. A resident of the area who spoke on the condition of anonymity said he was impressed with the development as it was time for the people to know those interested in ruling them either as governors or president in 2015. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/06/2015-presidency-lamido-amaechi-posters-flood-jigawa/ |
By Kingsley Adegboye Nigerite, a leading building materials manufacturing firm has noted that 95 per cent of waste from the company are recyclable, while 85 per cent of the company’s products, ranging from roofing to ceiling that are offered to the market from the low end to the high end, are also recyclable. Making this known at the just concluded Green Lagos Season 2 organised by Nigerite Nigeria Limited in commemoration of 2013 World Environment Day in Lagos, Toyin Gbede, an architect and Executive Director, Marketing, Nigerite said all these are measures to ensure the sustainability of the environment, stressing that “all our roofing sheets, all the metals that we use are recyclable materials. We are very careful about and any product that does not have the tendency to be recycled we leave it out.” According to him, the company is also careful about noise level. “You don’t hear the sound of our generators in our premises or of our machines. What we have done is to locate them in a secluded area and we cordoned them off so that when you come in you will never hear the noise from machines or the generators.” Gbede said the company is, in addition to that, using gas to power its production line. “We have synchronised our diesel and we are removing diesel generators and replacing them with gas generators so that gradually we will reduce the emission of the green house gases.” Nigerite had organized a competition among public secondary schools both in junior and senior categories in Lagos on the topic ‘Green Lagos Competition Season 2’, required students to write about green economy. From a total of 584 entries that were received, first second and third positions were selected to be rewarded at the grand finale which saw the student who took the first position being rewarded with N25,000, a laptop and a book while the second and third students got N20,000 plus a book and N15,000 plus a book respectively. The executive director of marketing, disclosed that the idea of what this company is doing with the annual competition is to invest in tomorrow so that “ when we grow old, there will be people to take over from us”, stressing that the issue of the environment is such that “all of us have a role to play and we are doing our own bit”. Issue of the environment “This programme is all about education on the environment. We need education to understand the environment. Some families don’t even understand the implications of their activities on the environment. People are dying in the village and they think it is the gods that are killing them not knowing that it is their environment”, he said. He explained that the event was their contribution to the sustenance of the most important gift bestowed on man by God, adding that they want to draw attention to the need to preserve the heavenly gifts, ensure that the environment which is freely given by God for the existence of all is efficiently managed. “We are a friend of the environment and we keep a close watch of the environment in line with our motto, ‘Environmental Excellence through responsible care’; it is on record that our company has won the annual award of the best kept industrial premises over 10 times from 1993 to date”, he said. He disclosed that all raw materials input used in their production processes are environmentally friendly, explaining that their cement fibre roofing and ceiling products are made from Portland Cement, cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol fibre and water only. “These have been certified by FEPA, LASEPA and Federal Ministry of Health as environmentally friendly, no wonder we have been certified by international agencies with NIS ISO 9001:2008, NIS ISO 14001:2004 and NIS BS 18001:2007 awards”, he enthused. |

babanne: @op did u call that panic?if everybody is taking shots of the plane, where is the panic?hmmmmm.I have corrected it. |
A scrap plane formerly owned by late Apostle Gabriel Oduyemi of Bethel Ministries, Ajah, Lagos, caused panic in the city yesterday as almost everyone thought that another aircraft had crashed in Lagos. Well, new findings reveal that the plane belongs to star actress, Omotola Ekeinde's husband. How it all happened: The plane, with registration number N972TF, which was recently released to Captain Matthew Ekeinde (for educational purposes in Badagry, Lagos) was being towed from Muritala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja to Badagry but during the process, the tyres burst. Nothing much could be done since it occurred in the middle of the night, so the incident forced Captain Ekeinde to dump the plane at a filling station...and then everyone panicked when they saw the plane the next morning! The question of "how did it get there?" was on everyone's lips. Residents trooped out with their smart phones and camera, and queued behind the gate of Dapsey Oil filling station at Igando where the plane was parked. They later turned the scene into an amusement park and began to pose and take shots near the plane...Nigerians!!! A senior employee of the filling station said “The plane was brought here around 2am after one of its tyres burst. It was being towed by a red vehicle, but after it got to Igando, they discovered it would be difficult to get it to its destination with burst tyre, so they brought it here.”Capt. Ekeinde confirmed to Punch that the scrap plane belonged to him, saying “The aircraft will be situated in a multipurpose and entertainment centre which will open very soon. When opened, the centre will be the first of its kind in West Africa." Ok, we can't wait.... |
