That statement from Atiku stating that he may not contest the next Presidential elections is only meant to lure Obi into the SDP and have Obi pick the SDP Presidential ticket.

Once that is done, Atiku will declare as well.

They are going to repeat what they did to Wike in the PDP Presidential primaries. At the end the northern delegates will pick Atiku. By then it will be too late for Obi having already contested for the ticket under the SDP.

If Obi heads to the PDP , he stands a better chance as running mate to Bala Mohammed. But Wike is sure as hell going to factionalize the PDP and have his own faction endorse BAT as their candidate.
