KobolanderSegun: Bro... You are spot on. You clearly are on point. I think the reason why I did not notice was because I quit football after USA 94 after we lost to Italy e be like say I won jump out of the house window in grief so I stopped watching football for National Teams. Despite having big screen television I never watch it during world cup and only follow matches online and after the match to escape " the agony of defeat ".
Which Team are you supporting to win it ? From what I am seeing this world cup may end up being wide open. I'm supporting England to win the tournament, but Spain/Portugal/france remain favourites. |

KobolanderSegun: I totally agree with you. It was so Futuristic back then. Adidas almost brought the same design out in this world cup. Even though it is still a very good design they should have refreshed it small. That 1990 jersey is so special and iconic, it can never be replicated. The 1990 jersey was brought back in 2018 but without the yellow and red colours.

shortgun: The narrative by the police doesn't make any sense. Many people today can not afford basic healthcare let alone the enormous cost of treating a relative with mental illness. After exhausting their savings on hospitals, traditional healers and churches without any solution, families are left with no options and resort to locking up their loved ones up in chains.
Rather than addressing this harsh reality, the Police Commissioner appears more interested in sensationalizing the issue to win public applause. In every nonsense there is an iota of sense. You have a point but in this environment most insane people are abandoned not held in captivity. |

TV/Movies › Re: Micheal: My Honest Review Of The Michael Jackson Biopic Movie by judewrites: 1:56pm On Jun 14 |
Host78: It's hard to compress a lifetime into a few hours.
And this is what the movie hoped to achieve: capture the whole life journey of the legend into a few hours.
Hence it was fast paced. A few missing pieces that leaves you desiring to know more about Michael Jackson.
You do will not see his development properly. The character development was mostly empty.
One aspect I would have loved to see is his relationship. As a star Micheal probably have more female admirers than anyone else.
How did he deal with those fans? We saw very little except for a girl, who was not actually his girlfriend.
Also you'll almost learn nothing new from the movie about Michael Jackson. Which begs the question, why create a biopic at all?
But something that really stood out to me most is the portrayal of Micheal Jackson's father.
He played a very central role in the movie and no doubt in Micheal Jackson's life and career.
And so I really do not understand why they tried to paint him as this cold and almost devilish figure.
At some point, his father figure role was almost designed to make you hate him and only love the mother.
But I don't think he is the villain of this story but instead a hero.
He was a mere factory worker and wanted his children to end up better than him.
"if you do not work hard, there's every guarantee that you'll end up right here in this small town as a factory worker. Now would you want that?"
He pushed the kids to be good at something. Not many fathers can see their kids and see the future ahead.
More so, actually push them to fly when the odds are stacked against them.
How a steel factory worker trained 5 boys to become the greatest music bands ever showed someone who deeply cared about his children more than a strict and wicked father.
Of course he could have pampered them like the mother and let them go to school, then join one of the boys in the hood and become nothing.
And it's so sad that towards the end of the movie, they try to portray him as the villain when everyone suddenly turned on him simply because they are now rich.
I mean, he built everything from the ground up. Mr Jackson not only gave the world micheal Jackson, he did the job of moulding him, shaping him up and developing his talent.
And worst still, every night when other fathers are too tired from work, he gathers the boys to practice.
That's not hate. That's tough love.
Another thing I love is the young man who played micheal Jackson. While you can clearly see the mimics in his moves, I think he did very well.
Overall, I think it's a good movie, worth watching but you'll learn nothing new from it.
And that's another angle, it tells you nothing new about the legend.
As a biopic we expect to see the legend in a different light, see aspects of his journey probably gathered from family members and close associates.
But the movie is more or less based on publicly available info. It's like watching what you already know.
There's absolutely nothing to learn new from the movie if you already read a few articles about the singer before.
Much time was spent rather on the making of his music videos such as thriller, beat it and wanna be Startin something.
In this regard, the movie actually lack substance.
There are so many direction this could have gone. I wonder why the dynamic between his father becomes the central role of the movie.
I'm not buying it that his father is bad or terrible.
Any human will be happy to have such a father who not only see them as other kids but as stars.
But not only see them as stars. That's the easier part and every father and mother think their kids are special.
But how many actually take the extra step to put that belief into work? How many fathers today will buy music instruments from their "factory" labor salary, come back from work and make their kids practice even when tired and exhausted?
How many will take their kids around town to book them for gigs, stay up while they play and look for ways to improve them?
Yes, he did beat them. But beating is not killing them. Little discipline goes a long way.
And I think this is a central role to almost any great person in history.
Serena Williams father was also strict with his children in their biopic. And like Micheal Jackson's father, he took his girls to practice regularly even when they don't want to.
He book their games as well finding as many opportunities for them as he could so they can shine.
Sorry Hollywood, but I'm not buying the idea that Jackson was a terrible father to his kids. The biggest irony was that it was MJ's father who pushed him to what he later became_a superstar but afterwards his dad was painted as villainous because of his strictness. Such is life. Another big irony was that out of all his children that he pushed into music, it was MJ that was destined to be the richest/ most successful musician. |

joseph1832: Arrant nonsense. If Football is a sin, how come Baseball isn't, as well as Chess, Scrabble, Ludo and the likes?
Most you religious folks attach the concept of sin, to everything? Especially things that makes people happy? Watching football or being a fan of a football club isn't a sin. However it can lead to sin when one idolizes football above the things of God....you rather spend time watching/discussing football than pray or read the Bible. |

Believe it or not, there is a spirit behind football ⚽....
Inasmuch as football in itself is just a sport and not inherently sinful, it can be used by the devil to divert people away from the gospel through idolatry.
Folks who prioritize football above seeking God can be easily misled by the devil. |

Most people confuse sex with Love...they are two different entities...a man can be sexually attracted to a woman and yet not love her and vice versa.
Most sexual relationships today are devoid of love.....love is the connection of two souls before the connection of two bodies.
Sex is just the icing on the cake 🎂 when love is present, especially in marriages. |

ogascomax: I went on twitter make you come see insult on top someone comments. Most Nigerians just believe that travelling abroad is like an escape velocity. Why are they not talking about the same White people that good numbers of them take their own lives due to depression. Those guys still go a lot there. I have friends in UK especially that speaks of challenges that many Nigerians also experienced. Some are too ashame to come back home. Even the way we pray for grace and favour even in Europe and USA they pray the same too. The rate of homelessness in USA is far more than Nigeria. The number is massive. Shelters everywhere and some people want to whine us here. It's not all green for all that depart at the end of the day. Finally, some people don't even understand the essence of prayer and fellowship with God that is why once they are comfortable they abandoned God. With what is going on in America now: the racial abuse, gun violence, anti_immigration raids, transgenderism, sexual perversion, gay and lesbian rights, etc. I wonder how one can live comfortably in such a place? Even if I have the opportunity to live there, I won't joke with my relationship with God...in His presence is fullness of joy. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Since I Moved To America, I No Longer Pray For 20 Minutes – Oyindamola by judewrites: 1:20pm On Jun 11 |
ogascomax: Some of you think that prayer is all about comfortable life. While Jesus was on earth he prayed a lot. Prayer is a fellowship with God. Scripture says pray without ceasing. Prayer has nothing to do with your need first or your challenges. Prayer should become a character of a Christian. It's a core of your Christian life. God bless you for this answer. The major reason why we pray and worship is not to get blessings from God but to fellowship with Him in His presence. God made man in His own image primarily for fellowship ♥️. That's why the suicide rate is higher in developed climes, because they don't have sufficient time for God, thus they become depressed because God primarily created us for fellowship with Him. |

Mariangeles: Would you (he) say the same if he were a king or a big business owner?
See, if ministry is in one's father's bloodline, then the children are called to ministry, and at least one of the sons should be trained to succeed the father.
Let's just say he's speaking for himself. True, but not always true. A man of God may be on 🔥 but none of his biological children are called to full ministry like himself. The man of God then needs to turn over the ministry to God's choice at his death. This is very rare though, because many see ministry as business, which should continue in their bloodline. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Kumuyi: My Sons Will Not Succeed Me, Deeper Life Is Not A Family Inheritance by judewrites: 7:15pm On Jun 10 |
Mariangeles: Not necessarily.
If you trained your son(s) well to succeed you, they will succeed you.
Aaron's son succeeded him as high priest when he was taken. Aaron was from and headed a family of priests...so therefore it was only natural for his son to succeed him. If a pastor's children aren't called to full ministry like himself or herself, it's not advisable to make them inherit the ministry at their death. RCCG founder passed on to Pastor Adeboye because he obeyed divine instructions, if not his biological children today would have been running the RCCG. Not everyone is gifted to do ministry, that's why in the RCCG, majority of ministers are part-time. A part time ministry cannot do ministry as effective as a full time minister called directly by God. |

As for the super eagles, they shouldn't over celebrate if they win.....the shame of missing the WC should make them a bit sober. |
