I was trying to check out my profile feed via the instagram app earlier this afternoon and found out it couldn't bring it up.
Thinking this was an internet glitch, I checked my connection, tried accessing other apps and websites, all went through.
Picked up my PC and tried accessing the instagram login page, low and behold I was welcomed with a blank screen.
This confirmed to me the photo sharing site is down.
Wouldn't know if am the only one with this or what is happening but I think soon, there will be update as this seems to be a developing story.

Earlier last year the CBN implemented a 3% withdrawal percentage on excess cash of 500k above for individual, and 3million above for cooperate account so as to promote cashless policy. However the mandate didn't kick start in all 36states until July 1st this year, hence the need to avoid it.

For example; if you withdraw 600k (cash) in a day from your account, you will have to pay 3% of the excess 100k which is N3,000.


One might ask, were they the one that gave you the money in first place? Don't they charge for SMS alert? Don't they charge for ATM withdrawals from other banks even when they know their ATM do malfunction sometimes? and many more way they already do charge us, so why this massive extortion all in the name of cashless policy?

Well, ever since I know am in Nigeria, The country condition has always taught me how to be smart.

So here I will let you know how to avoid the excess Ghost charges in 2 different ways.


1. Internet Banking (Easiest and Safest)

Transferring your cash via online channel to the person you wish to pay is far the easiest and safest way to pay for any goods/service.

All you need to do is walk into your bank branch and get activated.

With this, you can transfer as far as N5million daily with no charges other than SMS alert charges (You can't escape that)

2. Distribution Method (Smart but Risky)


This method is for people who find it as a must to collect cash. Maybe to pay some off record settlements.

It is risky because you maybe robbed for carrying much cash at hand or even killed.

And its smart because you will be beating the banks to their trick by giving them a dose of their very own medicine and avoiding the ghost charges.

So here is how it's done;

Before we start, you will need to have more than one account (or that of your friend which you have access to cash from) and also need an internet banking account.

Let's say you want to collect 2million in a day from one of your 4 bank accounts and you wish to avoid the charges on the 1.5million that lapse the 500k individual limit.

If you proceed to collect everything, you will be charged N45,000 (You imagine if you now pay the Teller's salary)

Instead of this, all you need to do is collect 500k from that account and send 500k each to your remaining 3 accounts via internet banking and you can successfully withdraw everything without paying ghost charges of any kind.

That's all!


You can now see how to easily avoid this ghost charges by Nigerian Banks.

However I would advice you use the internet banking channel as it's easy and safe.

N520,000 withdrawal attracted N600 charge on my Diamond Bank account two weeks ago.

So it didn't start today.

Not that it was much but No black man likes to pay for what he didn't use.

You mean 20,000 on top attracted N600 charges and you think it's not much? That's 3% man.

Was surfing via Facebook earlier today and noticed something in the upper right corner. What's it? Its a new Friends icon.

The Facebook friends icon has undergone a major change that lots might not notice.

Caitlin Winner, a design manager at Facebook, wrote in a Medium post today that she noticed something off about how the faceless silhouettes of a man and a woman were initially designed. While the male glyph had broad, fully rounded shoulders, the female one had an odd indentation in the shoulder on the left side — a marker, she later discovered, for the male glyph to be placed in front of her.
"I assumed no ill intentions, just a lack of consideration," she wrote. "But as a lady with two robust shoulders, the chip offended me."

But drawing in the lady's shoulder sent Winner on a quest to re-do the people icons for Facebook, including reducing the helmet-head look of the woman's haircut, as well as fixing the shoulders and hair of the male icon. But then, it came down to placement: in the old icon, the man prominently stood ahead of the woman, who was scaled to be at a distance behind him.

As a woman, educated at a women's college, it was hard not to read into the symbolism of the current icon; the woman was quite literally in the shadow of the man, she was not in a position to lean in.
After iterations where both the man and the woman were placed equally within the icon, Winner ultimately decided on putting the woman in front, slightly smaller than the man.

It's a small change on a small icon, but from both design and representation perspectives, it makes all the difference.

BVN(Bank Verification Number) activation has been an issue for bank customers ever since CBN made it a mandatory exercise for every account holder.

Earlier, the exercise end date was set to June. On this note, huge numbers of customers trooped in to their bank branches and like soldiers in a war zone, there were uproars in different areas of the country. Customers fighting each other, abusive speech from customers to bank officials and according to some witness count, Some persons collapsed while queuing for activation.

However, it was later postponed by the CBN till October 31st this year in other to permit customers who are yet to register do so. With this, what looked like a war became a nightmare as many retreated for a later day activation and things were back to normal.

One of the major issue of BVN is not just the activation itself, BUT also the LINKING of customers other bank account(s) to an already received BVN.
With this, First Bank Nigeria as its name implies became the first to launch an online BVN linking platform.
This would assist many to link their BVN to their First Bank account at the comfort of their home.

A company named 'Hacking Team' who do help cops in hacking citizens, has been hacked itself.
In some series of Tweets from the Firm's comprised twitter account, the yet to be identified hackers appear to have revealed embarrassing inhouse email messages and a torrent with 400GB of inhouse files, source code, and communications. As at the time of writing, no hacking group have claimed responsibility for the breach yet.

As reported by Yahoo;
"The Firm has more than 40 employees and sells commercial hacking software to law enforcement in several dozen countries, including Morocco, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates. A recent report from Motherboard revealed that the Hacking Team also supplies spyware tools to the Drug Enforcement Agency to implant software in a suspect’s phone and record texts, emails, passwords, and monitor conversations.
Hacking Team is infamous in security circles for injecting targeted malware into YouTube and Microsoft’s Live services. "

Formed by two Italian programmers, the pair originally created a program called Ettercap that quickly became the weapon of choice for hackers wanting to spy on people. The success of Ettercap led to Hacking Team, and now attention from rival hackers who have renamed the company’s Twitter account to “Hacked Team.”

If you are always the type searching through google for some information, you would have noticed how adverts gets to stick to things you searched for via google whenever you visit a website with a Google hosted ads.

What is DuckDuckGo?

DuckDuckGo (DDG) is an Internet search engine that emphasizes protecting searchers' privacy and avoiding the filter bubble of personalized search results.

In a simple language, DuckDuckGo is the search engine that doesn't track you.

Today in Nigeria, we have different types of modem based on their manufacturer i.e HUAWEI, ZTE e.t.c. Modem can also be categorized based on the network to which they are locked to irrespective of their manufacturer i.e MTN, AIRTEL, GLO, STARCOMM, ETISALAT, e.t.c.

Some of these modem allows you to make and receive calls whereas some does not. Mind you, when a modem is locked to a SIM or a network, the modem doesn't allow you to make use of another SIM or network in it except for the one to which it is locked to; unless you unlock the modem.

So, how do you make and receive calls with your MTN FASTLINK MODEM?

1. Download this zip file GLO 3G PLUS
2. Create a folder on your desktop and name it GLO 3G PLUS
3. Extract the content of the file you downloaded into this folder
4. Copy the folder from your desktop and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\ (for 64bits pc)or C:\Program files\ (for 32bits pc)and paste the folder there.
5. Open the GLO 3G PLUS you just pasted and look out for an application named GLO 3G PLUS with Glo icon

Republican Governor Greg Abbott of Texas signedinto law a bill allowing his state’s clergy to refuse to officiate marriage ceremonies that violate their religious beliefs. Abbott said it is vital that religious leaders are “secure in knowing that religious freedom is beyond government’s reach.”

“Pastors now have the freedom to exercise their First Amendment rights,” said Abbott during the signing ceremony of the so-called “Pastor Protection Act” held outside the governor’s mansion. “Freedom of religion is the most sacred of our rights and our freedom to worship is secured by the Constitution. Religious leaders in the state of Texas must be absolutely secure in the knowledge that religious freedom is beyond the reach of government or coercion by the courts.”

“Texas took a small but important step to further protect the religious freedom of clergy in the face of increasing hostility toward people of faith in all walks of life,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement. “No pastor, priest, rabbi or other religious leader should be forced to perform or recognize a marriage that contradicts his or her sincere religious belief.”

Some days back I called on someone to get me a recharge voucher as QuickTeller failed to top up my device even after deducting my cash.
However I needed to renew one of my subscription service, so i had to buzz someone to get me a physical card.
She sent me the code via an SMS and to my surprise it was a 16digits code.
I was confused and concluded this is some Airtel card mistaken for MTN. (Since Airtel has 16digits pin)
So I called her up and told her she sent me a wrong card, but she insisted it was an MTN card.
I proceeded in topping up my device with it, but didn't go through, perhaps the doubt made me miss a digit or 2 while typing.
So I called her up again and told her it wasn't going through and I needed another card, "this time a 12 digits please"
But to my surprise I got a transfer of the said amount not quite long from her. She told me she loaded the card and transferred to me.
A little bit skeptical at the time and never bothered, until I saw a post from MTN:

Thanking God I wasn't too forward speaking to her about unrealistic the scenario was, because no news outlet posted about the update till now and just had to post it so others can be aware of this and not to go saying someone gave them a fake card.
By the way, Here are some reactions from users, putting in mind the stress it takes to type a 12 digits voucher code, talkless of a 16digits pin.

Many questions are been asked in the Facebook Townhall Q and A session each time, however some question do get my attention and this is one of them.

A fan asked Mark what he will do if he wakes up tomorrow and realize Facebook is no more.

As some do say; "NO! is never a END" and trying never mean you lost out, it only mean you learned and that does not stop you from reaching your goal in life.
Ronke Giwa an On Air Personality/ BroadCaster at Splash FM 105.5 FM is an example of this.
She was auditioned as a contestant on Project Fame years back and Now she is a regional judge.
She shared this on one of her social media channels earlier today, and I decided to share with the public, as words like this gives hope to some who think it is finished after trying and things not working out.

A game you sometimes roll the dice in search for Double Six but never got it until the game approaches the end?
In a 2 persons game, little wonder how a player who is losing suddenly picks up and win the game.
Since its a 8/8 for the 2, the opponent could have just 2 games left while you have 7 games left and yet you came out victorious.
This is how life works, you not there today doesn't mean you won't be there tomorrow.
