[,,,][/color] Good day to all the gentleman/ladies, and to the car gurus and experts. Your comments and advice here have been of immeasurable benefit. Please kindly help with your superior wealth of experience. I plan to buy a neatly used Ford Focus (2000-2004 model) in two months time. The main reason is I need a 'small' car, easy to maintain, but still with a little comfort/style. I already drive an Akura 3.2TL, but it eats deep in my pocket (fuel-wise). So I need need a smaller car for some runs and even long journeys sometimes. My gurus, do u think the Ford Focus is OK , in terms of fuel consumption, long distance trip, less issues? Thanks as u kindly help a brother. |

JWTheocracy1: My brother I will advice you to go there and visit for like one week... I promise You won't regret it and it would be a very good opportunity for you to explore the labor market and then make a decision. Well said, thanks bro. From all I have read so far on this thread, Abidjan seems to suit my life style, plus I luv to live a different culture, and stay far from some extended family palava. So from a distance I am already liking the place |

good4all40: No!!! their women are not bad at all just pulling your legs that's way l put the sign of lol at the end of it but beware!! because HIV is not 100% avoided with the use of condom, l believed you read the story of Nairalander who just confirmed he is HIV positive he said his condom busted in one of his actions with his client l pray everything is well with him.
People travel or relocate to another country for many reasons, one of them is social amenities, peace and tranquility, family, friends or relatives pressure or seeking greener pasture. I can't speak for everyone because our purpose for traveling to Abidjan is not homogeneous, but l know it's a lovely city to live and work, you will never regret living in Abidjan especially if you go with some cash and have great business ideas.
I can suggest three businesses that l know will thrive in few months of commencement by God's grace. Firstly, it's the establishment of a bakery, there are more than 2 million documented Nigerians in Cote'divoire according to our Ambassador Mrs Ifeoma Akabogu. l had a chat with her last time l visited our Embassy in Plateau l must tell you our Ambassador is one of the friendliest Ambassadors you will ever meet. She is welcoming, decent and highly up to the tasks, but visiting her is strictly by invitation. Abidjan has the highest percentage of Nigerians living in the country, and only few Nigerian bakeries exist in the country according to my research, demand is grossly higher than supply. If you can team up with business minded people like you, you can come up with a decent Nigerian bakery in Abidjan except you have huge capital to start the bakery yourself as a one man business but you know it will requires some cash to start a decent one.
Secondly, starting a transport business is a nice idea too especially journeying from Abidjan to Lagos with a magnificent bus that will have WIFI and possibly a toilet, l remembered l once boarded one young shall grow bus to Lome sometime ago, the bus had a toilet though its small like that of a train, but it's highly manageable. I know Lots of people will patronize you because aside from young shall grow which is quite decent, they are extremely small decent transport companies that journey from Abidjan to Lagos.
Thirdly is starting a magnificent Bilingual school that teaches English and French with Nigerian curriculum, just try to stand out from others have nice building and professional teachers you will make your money in no time, though you might experience some challenges from your competitors or bad wishers but with God's grace and following the right channels you will excel l know top Nigerians in Abidjan in person some are even in their government let me know when you are ready to start l can help you more by God's grace. You can ask more questions here so that others can benefit. Wao, what a response. Thanks a lot for the insightful and really informative response. I agree that people relocate for Sundry reasons. I am surviving in our beloved Nigeria, but wish to still live in a less chaotic clime with better infrastructure and even different ideals to what we have here. I am trying to take my job online, but the seeming high cost of data in Abidjan is a concern. U highlighted three quite good businesses one could go into, but they largely require medium to huge capital to begin. What of small scale businesses? Thanks a lot |

good4all40: I doubt if anyone will be bored in Abidjan if not for Language or lack of money to maximize the enjoyment of the Country. For those that can teach, you will surely get teaching jobs in Abidjan there are more than 50 Nigerian schools scattered all over Abidjan alone, though many of these schools don't have great structures but you should be less concerned about that as long as your cash is rolling in. Most schools l know in Abidjan pay their teachers per day like 2500CFA to 3500CFA per day depending on the school, though the teacher can bargain with the school management to be the getting his or her money at the end of the month most schools if not all will agree to that.
As for the language barrier, be patient you will understand their local French very quickly Abidjan remains one of the the French cities in Africa to Quickly learn local French because virtually everyone in that country speaks French even people as old as 90 and people living in their villages Speak good French too.
As for their women please be careful otherwise l doubt if you will return to Nigeria with N5,000 their women are exceedingly stunning you may not realize what you are into until you get to Ivorian/Ghanaian boarder in NOE and ELUBO respectively and OYO is your name. Try to visit their Zoo they have lots of Animals the last time l visited with my Friend, and also see their beaches and the first Ivorian capital BASSAM you will love you did. If you visit their beach on Weekends you may want to decide to be living near the beach lol. Please stay away from their women except your intention is to marry one of them lol Abidjan has a nice weather all year round.
I call Abidjan the food basket city of West Africa, food is in Abundance here you will love it here, this city can make you become a glutton if care is not taken just eat moderately and save decently. Their Electricity sometimes you will ask yourself are you still in West Africa or Europe?? because many times you can have electricity for three months at stretch without blinking. You will hate Nigeria more if you live in this city for just few days especially if you have little cash.
I know many Nigerians in Abidjan that have spent 30 years or more in the city most of them have not even attempted to visit their home country, don't blame them because about 40% or more now have ivorian passports.
You will continue to ask yourself what has Nigeria achieved as a country since 1960 of her independence. I always want to slap anyone to calls Nigeria giant of Africa, Nigeria is not even ant of Africa a country with no light, no water from the government, no good roads these shortcomings from our government always increase depression and devastation for my country men. l have never heard any news that an ivorian commit suicide in Abidjan atleast their government provide light, water and good roads for everyone and there is a very little gap between the rich and the poor in the country. The Last time l visited Bamako the Capital city of Mali despite the country being poor there were constant light, water and good roads.
You will never know what we are taking for granted in Nigeria except you leave the country. You can ask any Question about Abidjan or about the country as a whole because l visited their political capital(YAMSOKRO) and few other towns and villages last time l visited. This one you harped much on their avoiding their women, are they that bad in terms of manners or they are overtly money-conscious? Or are they marriable? How easy or difficult is it to set up business in Abidjan? Lastly, would u encourage someone who already earns more that 3000CFA per day to relocate to Abidjan? |
