Biodun Olujimi, a Nigerian Senator representing Ekiti south has been under fire for reportedly telling her aide to assault a member of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN).

According to report the Nigerian Senator ordered the assault because the PASAN member shared an elevator with her.

The assault ordered by the Senator who was on her way to the public hearing of the Senate committee on petroleum downstream, investigating the N5 trillion subsidy payment to the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC), made workers at the national assembly create a scene on Monday.

An eyewitness told Premium Times that the said the lawmaker directed her aide to “slap” the legislative official, who immediately responded in kind. The PASAN staff however slapped the senator and not her aide.

Mrs. Olujimi left the elevator and challenged the PASAN official, who was immediately shielded by his colleagues.

The PASAN staff refused to apologise, and it took the intervention of National Assembly security officials to rescue her from the scene. Other PASAN members declined comments and refused to give the name of the official involved.

The lawmaker thereafter attended public hearing. In a chat with some journalists after the hearing, she vowed to take up the case with the National Assembly security.

Still on Nigerian Assembly report, a Senator representing Bauchi central senatorial district, Isah Misau has been cautioned by the high court of the Federal Capital Territory, Maitama, Abuja, against making further comments in the media on issues bordering on the charges for which he was being prosecuted.

The senator was re-arraigned by the federal government before the court on amended charges of spreading malicious falsehood of corruption and unethical practices against the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, and others.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has issued a ‘Not To Be Broadcast’ (NTBB) warning against rapper Olamide’s hit song ‘Science Student.’


The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) proscribed the song from being broadcast on all radio and television stations.


The Head of Public Affairs, NBC, Hajia Maimuna Jimada confirmed NBC’s stand on the trending song, stating that the regulatory body did not ban the song but considered it unfit for broadcast.


She told Tribune “NBC does not ban music. Our mandate is on what goes on Radio and TV. Olamide’s Science Student has been declared ‘Unfit for broadcast.’


“The profligate mention and the subtle promotion of illegal drugs declared the song unlawful. We have communicated all our licensees for compliance or they will face sanctions.”

Fulani herdsmen have allegedly killed five people and injured eight others in an attack on Bassa Local Government in Plateau state.
According to the chairman of Irigwe Development Association, Mr Sunday Abdu said that the herdsmen attacked several villages in the Local Government.

Mr. Sunday Abdu further said the incident occurred on Thursday, January 25, 2018, added that over 20 houses were destroyed.
According to report from Tribune, he said

“The causality figure was more than five. I am just going around. Five people were killed in the first village I visited. I am still going round to see the number of people that were affected. My brother is affected, too. Until I finish going round, I cannot tell you the actual figure. As soon as I am through, I will call you.”

A Twitter user, Boakye Mensah Ohene, has warned that making love between 12am and 3am could be "dangerous".

In a series of tweets, Ohene claimed that his pastor told him that the period between 12 and 3am was the "worst time to have sex".

He quoted the pastor as saying that God sends angels to bless people and bring the responses to their prayers around that time.

According to him, when the angels come to see couples making love, they leave with the responses to prayers and other blessings they brought because they are forbidden from seeing the unclothedness of people.

The claim provoked criticism from members of the public on social media, with some accusing the pastor of distorting the message of God.

"People these days are preaching their own words, not the word of God ... Please where in the Bible [does] God forbid married couple to have sex between 12am - 3am?"

one commentator said. YEN.com.gh reader, Jacob Kluste, rejected the pastor's assertion, saying that God sees everything people do at every point in time.

In his view, the only thing people need to do to access God's blessings is to follow the instructions of God and be faithful to him.

"...God will bring your blessings as couples as far as you do the right things, walk in God's way and all other things shall be added unto you according to his riches and glory," he said.
