RIVERS STATE COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COURSES AND REQUIREMENTS.

Environmental Health Technician (Diploma)
Course Duration:3 years
Entry Requirement:
Four (4) credits and two passes in GCE/WAEC/NECO examination. The Credits must be in any of the following subjects: English Language, Biology/Health Science, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing and any other subject. A pass in Mathematics is an added advantage.
Holders of Environmental Health Assistant certificate with two years post qualification experience may be admitted at 200 level of Environmental Health Technician programme provided they fulfill the entry requirement above.

Health Promotion & Education (Diploma)
Course Duration:2 years
Entry Requirement:
Applicants for the programme must possess five (5) credit passes in GCE, SSCE, NECO or Grade 11, must include English Language, Biology and three science subjects including (Chemistry, Physics, Health Science, Integrated Science, General Science, Nutrition).
For the certificate in Health Education, the prospective applicant must possess five (5) passes in GCE, SSCE, NECO, Grade 11, NABTECH, which must include English Language, Biology and other three subjects including (Chemistry, Health Science, Nutrition, Physics, General Science or Integrated Science).
Holders of Environmental Health Assistant (EHA), Junior Community Health Extension Worker, (JCHEW), Medical Laboratory Assistants (MLA), Dental Surgery Assistants (DSA), Certificate Health Education (CHE) and Pharmacy Assistants Certificate (PAC), who have the basic requirements for Diploma, and one year post qualification experience, can be admitted into 200 level of the HPE programme.
Emergency Medical Technician (Diploma)
Course Duration: 3 years
Entry Requirement
Five (5) Credit passes in WASC/NECO/SSCE or GCE. Subjects include: English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Sciences, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings.
Candidate must be physically fit and able to lift weight
Must be free from in controlled diabetes, and hypertension, epilepsy, active respiratory infection (Tuberculosis).
Must have current immunization for Hepatitis B.C, Tetanus, Meningitis.
Must not have a criminal record.
Free from substance abuse
Should have a verifiable residential address.
Medical Social Work (Diploma course)
Course Duration: 3 years
Entry Requirement:
Five (5) O’ level credits in WASC/GCE or NECO which must include English Language, Mathematics and three (3) others, one subject chosen from each of the subject combination: (Government/History, Christian Religious/Islamic Knowledge), (Health Science/Biology/Nutrition), (Economics/Commerce /Geography) at not more than 2 sittings.
Dental Surgery Technician/Dental Health Technician (Diploma)
Course Duration: 3 years
Entry Requirement:
Four (4) credits in WASC/GCE or NECO which must include Biology, Chemistry/Physics, English Language and Mathematics.
Anesthetic Technician (2 years)
Entry Requirement:
Five (5) Credit passes in WASC/NECO/SSCE or GCE. Subjets include: English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Sciences, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two sittings.
Candidate must be physically fit and able to lift weight

Entry Requirement :Five (5) credits in WASC/GCE or NECO which must include: Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Physics and Mathematics at not more than two sittings and must be obtained within a space of 10 years prior to enrollment.
Medical Laboratory Technician (Abridgment)
Course Duration: 2 years
Entry Requirement:Holders of Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate in addition to the above requirements.
Public Health Nursing (HND)
Course Duration: 2 years
Entry Requirement:Five (5) O’ level credits in WASC/GCE/SSCE, which must include English Language, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and a pass in Mathematics. In addition, candidates must possess any of the under listed:Nigerian Registered Nurse CertificateNigerian Registered Midwifery CertificatePsychiatric Nurse Certificate (or Accident and Emergency Certificate etc (for males) plus one year post qualification experience.
Public Health (Diploma)
Course Duration: 2 years
Entry Requirement:Five (5) credits in WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO which must include: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Health Science at not more than two sittings.
Biomedical Engineering Technician Course (Diploma)
Course Duration: 3 years
Entry Requirement:Five (5) O’ Level Credits in WASC/GCE/SSCE in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

Six Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships in South Africa and Sri Lanka

These Commonwealth Master's Scholarships allow successful applicants to benefit from the expertise provided by universities in low and middle income countries around the Commonwealth. They are majority funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP).

Applications are now open for seven scholarships at ACU member institutions in South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Gibraltar.

These Commonwealth Scholarships give talented students – who can be from any Commonwealth country other than the host country – the opportunity to gain a degree while developing new skills and experiencing life in another country.

The scholarships are fully funded, including tuition fees, a return flight, an arrival allowance, and a living allowance.

Federal University Oye Ekiti, FUOYE Inducts First Graduating Engineering Students

As Federal University Oye Ekiti, FUOYE Inducts First Graduating Engineering Students no fewer than 41 engineering graduands of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) have been inducted into the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) during a ceremony for the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 graduating set.

As part of the one-week programme to mark the first convocation of Federal University Oye Ekiti, graduating students of Faculty of Engineering of the university were on Friday April 28, 2017, inducted into the Nigerian society of Engineers (NSE)

These students graduated from the first five departments of engineering established in the university these are: Civil Engineering with eight inductees, Electrical Electronics Engineering with fourteen inductees, Material and Metallurgical Engineering with seven inductees, Mechanical Engineering with seven inductees and Mechatronics Engineering with six inductees

In all forty one graduands were inducted into the society, including Okeowo Oluseyi who graduated with first class honours in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and was best graduating student.

Highlights of the occasion were the formal induction exercise conducted by the president, The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Otis Oliver Anyaji, who was represented as well as speeches and addresses delivered by some important personalities.

Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Somerekun, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof R .A Omolehin described Ikole campus as the salt of the university as it hosts the edge which FUOYE has over its sister universities in the form of a Faculty of Engineering. According to him, none of the other eleven universities established at the same time as FUOYE in 2011 has an engineering faculty. He also revealed that Faculty of Engineering qualifies FUOYE to benefit from the Petroleum Trust Development Fund, PTDF, and announced that the faculty would benefit in the upcoming facility upgrade. He thanked the ruler and people of Ikole community for their unflinching support to the university.

The Vice Chancellor, who thanked God for the grace to be part of a historical landmark, was happy to see the graduation come true, noting that the induction offered them the platform to become corporate members of the society.

He disclosed that the number of departments in the Faculty of Engineering had risen from five to seven, and would still increase, based on the understanding that Engineering drives technology.

The vice chancellor promised that all the university’s programmes would be accredited by the relevant accreditation bodies and vowed that by the time NUC comes in November 2017; all FUOYE programmes would have been accredited.

He commended the Faculty of Engineering for preparing the inductees and NSE for its effort in ensuring that the Engineering profession is adequately guided to weed off quackery.

The University of Lagos, UNILAG has released How to Apply for UNILAG Postgraduate Trust Fund Grant - ELIGIBILITY, MODALITIES & PROCESSING for intellectually brilliant students.

To assist intellectually brilliant students in research work, engender capacity building, strengthening of post-graduate students training in the University, open the doors to several other benefits, the School of Postgraduate Studies instituted a Postgraduate Trust Fund which was officially launched on Thursday, 7th July, 2016 in the University Main Auditorium during its 2015/2016 Academic Session Annual Lecture.

Following the approval for the disbursement of the Funds by the Board of Postgraduate Studies, the School hereby requests interested Ph.D. students to apply for it.


How to Apply for UNILAG Postgraduate Trust Fund Grant - ELIGIBILITY
Applicant must fulfill the following criteria;

Be a registered Ph.D. candidate and full-time student.
Be registered for the year in which the application for grant is being made.
Must have not spent more than 3 year before application.
Must have completed Course Work with minimum of 4.50 grade point average approved by Senate.
Presented his/her first seminar (Pre-Field).
Show relevance of Ph.D. work to National Development.
Be recommended by both Supervisor and Departmental Postgraduate Committee.
Present a 500-word Proposal, which will be followed by Oral Interview.

How to Apply for UNILAG Postgraduate Trust Fund Grant - ELIGIBILITY, MODALITIES FOR GRANT DISBURSEMENT
a)Grant will be disbursed in three installments (in the ratio 40:40:20), which will be determined by evidence of work done.

Once grant is approved (1st tranche will be released)
When the candidate is about to go to APC (2nd tranche will be released).
Before the candidate’s viva (3rd tranche will be released).
b)Candidate must commit the work within three years from the date of award, otherwise the remaining part of award will be withdrawn.

c)Pre-field, post-field and post Academics Programme Committee (APC) Progress Reports will be required until the work is completed.

The Auchi Poly Matriculation Ceremony Date, Gowns Collection & Other Details – 2016/17 for the academic session has been released to enable adequate preparation from the matriculating students, and other interested stakeholders.

Therefore the Auchipoly management has choosen to inform all the newly admitted students of the Auchi Polytechnic, that the management of the institution has announced the needed Auchi Poly Matriculation Ceremony Date, Gowns Collection & Other Details – 2016/17

Auchi Polytechnic 35th matriculation ceremony for the newly admitted HND and ND students has been slated for April 28th, 2017 at the Polytechnic sports complex.

Matriculants are expected to make a payment of N600 (six hundred naira only) as cost of hiring the matriculation gown and cap which they must wear for the ceremony.

Payments are to be made at Skye Bank (Main Campus).

Matriculating students should present their bank tellers for the SIX HUNDRED NAIRA (N600.00) only to the Cash Office in the Bursary Department of the Polytechnic to obtain the Polytechnic receipts.

The receipts should then be presented to their respective School Officers before the collection of the academic gowns and caps as from TUESDAY 25TH APRIL, 2017.
