This is total BLACKMAILLING. I must confess I did not have much to say on this issue again because this is a total blackmail.

Mr Lawrence, I don’t think you know the implication of what you are doing. If I had issue with you, you know my office, why don’t you come and lets resolve it amicably.
I have been in this business for over Ten years and nobody has ever accused me like this before. We met at Seme border around 3pm on the 10th of May. I explained everything to you in details, I told you that we are having issues with NCS but we are still dialoging and secondly when I did not heard from you as we agreed again, I used the value I have collected for your car for another car because I thought that you can’t make it to Lagos again that week. I charged you 400k for clearing the car from cotonuo port to Seme border and we agreed. When we came back to border, I told you that we will have to wait for Valuation because there is issue on ground here and you gave me 800k and asked me to call you when the Value is out. I called you around 9pm that same day to explain the whole issue to you but you told me that you can’t afford and I should refund your 800k to you, we agreed. On the 11th of May around 12:30, you came to meet me in my office and asked of your balance and I gave you the 800k cash.
I never asked you of any additional fee and you did not give me any additional money the total money that you gave me was 400k NGN.

On the 11th of May, after I refund your 800k, you asked me to take you to cotonuo port that you want to see the car. At cotonuo’s port, your saw all what we passed through simply just to satisfy you. Unfortunately, around 9:30pm, they made us realized that the shipping company you used did not alert them to release the car. I took you to the vice controller’s office and he showed you everything on system.
You called me a tout Lawrence, it’s never your fault. When you told me that you can’t afford the duty, I even promised to fly in the car free of charge for you so that you will park it in your compound till we resolve the issue on ground here, I will process your paper and give it to you. If truly you think that I have scammed you,you know what next to do legally. You claimed that I was extorting you, we agreed on a price and you paid me willingly, is that the meaning of extortion? Honestly you are a fool and I’m highly disappointed in you Lawrence. Am not a kid and age wise am not your mate. Do you think that you are dealing with a novice? When I asked you to provide your international passport do you think that I don’t know what I’m doing? I noticed criminal steps that you are taking and I can never let you to put me in trouble because I noticed that you are not comfortable at all when I asked you some questions about the car.

Nairaland is a good and number one Nigerian leading site with educated and expose members which I regards as my family. I have transacted business worth of millions with Naiaralnders and I never had issue like this before. Although, at times we have misunderstand but we resolve it amicably that is what they called maturity. In a business you don’t expect thing to augur well all the time. The way you resolve issues with your clients determine the continuity. Lawrence never told me anything before. Lawrence just went to where I parked the car at border and moved it without telling me and since then I have been calling Lawrence lines, no response. If someone offends you atleast you will let the person know. When the car arrived border on Monday, I called Lawrence to come and see his car and showed him where am going to park it. The next thing I heard was Lawrence went to move the car without telling me. The boys at the park called me and I ordered them to release the car to him and I play along with Lawrence because he did not tell me anything and I don’t want him to think that am after his job or money. When I took you to where I parked your car, close to 40cars that was there did you see any car below 2009 model, these are brand new cars waiting for clearing and the owners are satisfied and comfortable with me.

@ FHEMMY
My mentor I hail you. I have been following your comment on issues like this before and I noticed that you are always neutral. In a business, issues arises, but the way it was solved matters most. I have to correct something here. I have license to clear cars at both Seme and Tincan port. Both ports are legally approved by govt and no risk attached to shipping cars via Cotonuo Port. The only different between cotonuo and Tincan is just the duration. If you are clearing through Cotonuo its faster compares to Tincan. The normal bank payment duty for 2012 GL450 is 3.3m NGN approximately. This is normal fee approved by govt. but we agents and NCS have an agreement because we learnt that nobody is ready to pay that duty because its too high, nobody can afford it. We agreed on a Value. This forum is a public place and as agent, its not everything that I will tell you here. With this agreed Value, when you pay for it, next thing is to pay for FOU and CIU and no custom men will question your paper. The 1.6m NGN I asked Lawrence to pay me for the custom papers, for confirmation of his custom papers, I told him that he will drive the car himself from Seme border to VI and I will sign an agreement that if NCS impound his car because of the custom papers, I will be held responsible. Where have I wronged this man called Lawrence?

We met around 3pm on the 10th of may, on the 11th he asked me to refund 800k and I did, Saturday and Sunday, no work. On Monday the vehicle arrived Seme border and I called him to come and see his car. Since that Monday, I have not set my eyes on Lawrence neither did he call or reply my messages. Who is crook between me and Lawrence?

@ Inspired

I really appreciate your work as a moderator on this forum and also a dealer, it not an easy task at all, Kudos to you. I will like to make something clear to you on this issue Mr. Moderator.

When a buyer and seller are having issue like this, you have to be neutral and try as much as possible to gather concrete evidence before you take your decision. Lawrence was my client and I think that if I have done anything wrong to him. He accused me of extorting him, apart from the 400k I charged him and he paid me willingly, did you asked him if he gave me any other money?
You claimed that general cotonuo clearing is 400k CEFA, what are you insinuating? This is confusion and selfish statement. Normal Custom clearing in cotonuo is 450k Cf and you will have to pay for security, battery and imported card which is not inclusive in the 450k Cf. if you are clearing cars in Cotonuo, you will pay for security, battery and imported card which varies but at the range of 55k cf to 80k cf depending on where you buy your car. Total cost of clearing cars at cotonuo cars market is 550k Cf maximum
Secondly, Lawrence car was not bought in Cotonuo. This particular car was shipped to cotonuo with instructions. Normally, if a car was shipped as normal car, the first thing I will do was to transfer it from port to shipped cars park before the clearing start. But this particular car was containerized and the instruction was to clear the car as a container at the port and deliver to Seme. But I used all the connection I have in cotonuo to assist Lawrence but all what I will gain from Lawrence was all this rubbish. If the car were to be cleared as container, he will spend close to a million Naira and he was aware because I took him to the office of the Vice controller cotonuo port and they showed Lawrence everything on system and explained to him in details.
We are all doing business to make profit, if I charged Lawrence, 10m NGN to clear from cotonuo port to Seme and he paid me willingly and later saw lower offer from different agent. That’s not extorting. I did not force him. Mr Inspired, you are doing business. The way you charge buyer A may different to the way you charge buyer B. I don’t think that the charges Lawrence paid me should be anybody’s business because I know how much am paying gvt as a licensed agent.
I have gone through Lawrence cooked write up. This man is just a nuisance. If it’s real, why did he refuse to pick my call or reply my messages? Till date I never heard from Lawrence. When Lawrence was not comfortable with me, I called him and advised him as a brother to try some else. I don’t want him to feel cheated.

Honestly, Lawrence you are a clown. Do you think that you can bring me down? You are just fooling yourself

regards
