The United States of America Senator, Bob Menendez, has reacted to the release of the Pro-Democracy activist and journalist, Omoyele Sowore.

In a statement released earlier today , the Senator who was one the early callers for the unconditional release of Sowore expressed gratitude and has pleaded with the Nigerian Government to ensure his safety.

He said “I’m gratified to hear of Mr. Sowore’s release, and I expect the government of Nigeria to ensure his continued safety and security now that he is out of custody. I am hopeful that moving forward we can rely on the Nigerian justice system for a transparent, credible legal process. According to reports, the EFCC arraigned Mr Kelechi Nwaturuocha before Justice Darius Khobo of State High Court Kaduna on a two count charge bordering on impersonation and Cheating.

Sometime in 2019, Kelechi disguised himself as a lady and a lesbian named Donna Walshak on a social media platform.

He used the fake identity to defraud his victim, Vanessa Rose, of $1900. Investigation revealed that the money from his victim was "wired" to him through the accounts of two Nigerian ladies domiciled in two new generation banks.


The suspect, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. Consequently, the prosecuting counsel E.K Garba urged the court to fix a date for the hearing of the case.

Nigeria’s Ex attorney-general, Bello Adoke, has been arrested by Interpol agents shortly after arriving in Nigeria from the United Arab Emirates.

According to reports, Mr Adoke left Nigeria in October 2015 and has not been seen in the country ever since then. He returned to Nigeria after being held by UAE authorities in Dubai for five weeks in connection with the raging Malabu Oil scandal.

But after a month in the custody of the International Police( INTERPOL) in the UAE, Adoke voluntarily offered to return to the country for interrogation by the EFCC and trial.

The Ogun State Police have caught a man; called Taofeek Oyeyemi, for impregnating his 16 years old biological daughter.

According to reports, Taofeek, 42 years old, was arrested following a complaint by the girl’s mother who reported at the Ewekoro police station, that her daughter who has been living with her ex-husband, was pregnant.

She informed the Police that her daughter said she was impregnated by the father who also took her to a quack medical practitioner to procure an abortion, explaining that the daughter had not ceased bleeding since the alleged abortion was carried out.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that the suspect has 17 children from different women and has admitted sleeping with his daughter several times before the pregnancy occurred; and proceeded to have the girl abort the pregnancy.

Members of the Senate on Wednesday considered a motion on the ‘escalating rate’ of unemployment in the country.




The motion was sponsored during plenary by the immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

In their resolution, the lawmakers proferred solutions to the executive arm of the government for adoption and implementation.
One of these is for the Federal, State and Local Governments to declare emergency on the provision of employment across the country.

The senators also called on the Federal Ministry of National Planning to put the necessary mechanism and programmes in place to achieve this.

They proposed the revitalisation of existing industries and urged the executive arm to initiate sustainable employment fund for the payment of stipends to unemployed Nigerians until such persons secure employment.
Earlier, Senator Ekweremadu brought the motion to the floor through reliance on Orders 42 and 52 of the Senate Standing Rules.

He decried that high institutions of learning in the country produce a large number of graduates yearly without jobs, describing such a situation as a “time bomb waiting to explode”.
Citing a report published by the National Bureau of Statistics in 2019, Senator Ekweremadu stated that Nigeria’s unemployment rate stood at 23.1 per cent of the workforce in the third quarter of the year.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has expressed satisfaction with performance of the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the state-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Prof Igbekele Ajibefun, for a job well-done and for taking the Institution to a greater height.

Akeredolu, made this statement while delivering his address on the occasion of the 9th Convocation ceremony of the University held on Friday.



The Governor said the Professor of Agricultural Economics, whose tenue as the 5th substantive VC of the University will end three weeks time, would be leaving the Institution better than he met it five years ago.

Governor Akeredolu said, “I want to commend Prof. Ajibefun for doing the state and the University proud. On behalf of the people and government of Ondo state, I want to congratulate him for a jobs well-done and for taking the University to the pedestal of its highest ranking since its existence in Akungba 20 years ago.



“Today AAUA is rated the Best State University in Nigeria, number 9 out of almost 160 universities in the country, and number 81 in Africa. That must have taken lots of hardworking and efforts as well as the support of other members of Management of the institution.

He said, ”As part of our administrations understanding of the running of a 21st century-compliant university, we have continued to give the management of all state-institutions the free hand needed to run their affairs.

An elderly couple, Muhammad Liti and Fatima Malam got married in Kano state after eight months of courting.
According to a report by the Dala FM, the wedding took place on Sunday night at Kan Fako area of Dorayi town in Gwale local government area of the state.
Mr Liti paid a bride price of N10,000 to his heartthrob who fries Kosai and Wainar Rogo in the area. The couple reportedly threw a colourful ceremony as families and friends as well as hundreds of residents trooped to the venue to witness the occasion.
The bridegroom, who expressed happiness on finding a life partner, said the marriage was based on true love.



On her part, the bride said she would be an obedient wife to her groom, even though he is eight years younger than her.

A bizarre occurrence has taken place in Okofia, Otolo Nnewi in Anambra state after a man in his 60s reportedly impregnated his daughter twice.



In photos shared on Facebook, the elderly man who is allegedly from Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area had palm fronds tied on his neck. His daughter who was carrying a baby also had palm fronds tied on her leg to show that they engaged in gross and abominable acts.

The father and daughter were then led to a waiting bus where all their property were packed in by the community members.
Facebook user, Okoro Abraham who shared the photos wrote;

“Happening now at Okofia Otolo Nnewi, the location of the unizik college of health. This man from Okija impregnated his own daughter for the second time, now they are asked to leave Nnewi.”

A high court sitting in Yola, Adamawa State, has condemned one Ibrahim Mustapha, a phony medicinal specialist to 54 years in jail.
