Building of big school buildings,facilities was initiated in Nigeria by Tinubu.He called them millennium schools and he also initiated free WAEC for all students in Lagos state.It is being copied in Nigeria till date.
A whole lot of what he initiated are being copied in Nigeria today and those things signify growth.

Here is a list of his innovations and achievements in education as governor of Lagos state.....

*Rehabilitation and Upgrading of Schools (The "Eko Project": Initiated massive rehabilitation of dilapidated schools, including the rehabilitation of 602 classrooms in 4 primary schools and 50 secondary schools, and the construction of 501 new classrooms in 24 primary and 26 secondary schools.

*Introduced "Millennium Secondary Schools" designed to provide modern learning facilities, specifically targeting overcrowded schools, such as the Abibatu Mogaji Millennium Secondary School in Agege.
Upgrading Schools to Model Colleges.

*Pioneered the upgrading of several schools to Model College status to enhance quality, including Oriwu College (Ikorodu), Agbowa/Ikosi Methodist High School (Epe), and Vetland Grammar School (Agege).

*Introduction of "One-Day Governor" Spelling Bee: Introduced the Spelling Bee competition, organized by the New Era Foundation (led by Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu), which rewards winners with the opportunity to serve as "One-Day Governor" of Lagos State. This encouraged academic excellence and student participation in governance.

*Outfitted over 40 schools with computers and established five new libraries and computer centers in the five divisions of the state to promote digital literacy.

*Implementation of Free WAEC/NECO Fees: The administration approved the payment of WAEC and NECO examination fees for senior secondary students (SS3) in public schools, easing the financial burden on parents.

*Constructed 25 community vocational centres and outfitted government technical colleges to promote practical education and skill acquisition.

*Restructured the administration of schools by creating six educational districts managed by Tutor-Generals/Permanent Secretaries (Level 17 officers) to improve school management and oversight.

*Inclusive Education Initiatives: Developed 29 new inclusive education units to ensure that physically or intellectually challenged students were not left out of the mainstream education system.

*Support for School Sports: Resuscitated the Principal Cup competition and provided N100,000 to each government school to upgrade sports facilities.

*Returning Schools to Missionaries: Initiated the policy of returning schools to their original missionary owners, which helped improve school management and moral standards.

*Increase in Education Access: Between 1999 and 2007, his policies resulted in over 323,000 additional student enrollments across public primary and secondary schools.
